Morning Make Up- Green and Pink Double Wings

A new segment I’m trying out where in I show my morning make up routine for various days and chat about what I’m doing that day. Not really a tutorial, more of a random girly chat while we get ready together in the bathroom 😉

Today’s style features green liner with a double wing, I really like coloured eyeliner at the moment and these colours go really well together for Spring or Summer!

Time for another random Morning Make up video in which I do my make up and we chat.
Today is green and pink for Spring.
Start with foundation as usual.
I applied a thick line of green liner with a bit of glitter in it.
I’m packing this week for a trip up north to Brisbane.
Next a highlighter.
We’ve done a lot of traveling this year.
I added a pink shadow all over the lid.
I’m getting quite tired of it, I’d much rather travel overseas than within Australia.
Next was a very thin black line at the lashes to disguise the false lashes later.
That’s the worst part, coming home to mess.
To give a little depth I added darker pink to the outer corner and green near the outer lash line.
We’re going up to celebrate James’ Dad’s birthday and his family is renting some cabins.
Next was mascara and third corner lashes to the outer corners.
By the time I actually uploaded this you’ll probably have seen some of the vlogs I’m going to film during December.
Now to make the wings, using cream shimmer I went over the green line and gave it a long wing. I added a second wing above to make it more interesting.
Or maybe you’ve seen all of them because my magical seeing into the future abilities don’t know when I’m going to upload this.
The top wing is slightly longer. To seal in place I dabbed a little bright green shadow over the top.
While I’m away I promised to work on my seeing into the future ability.
I thought it needed to be a little darker so I touched up the dark pink corner with a little purple to blend it all together.
A nice pink blush and it’s almost done.
As always, lipstick and gloss last.
Phew now I have pretty make, I should probably get packing.
I hope this was a useful video, please check out the blog post linked in the description for more information and tutorials.
Thanks so much for watching.
Bye!

18 Days of V-Logs, Bunnies and Reviews

Long time no round up! I didn’t even realise it was Christmas this weekend, where on earth has December gone?! I haven’t even started getting presents yet… FAIL! Lots of crafting this week though to make up for it 😀

And I’ve almost finished making the basic hime gyaru dress for the tutorial you guys have been asking about for years now… so hurrah!

A lot of people have asked if I will be selling the little Bergamot bunnies. The answer is YES. I am hand sewing the first few batches and that takes time. The first lot will go up for sale on Wednesday (my time) and there will be 11 of them. So if you want one keep an eye out for the announcement here. They take quite a bit of time to make so I’m not sure how long it will be between batches at the moment.

Obviously I won’t be able to post them in time for Christmas (unless you’re in Melbourne and want to arrange pick up) but this lot will come with a downloadable form which you can print and give on Christmas if you’re buying as a present for someone.

Depending on the demand I may open a pre-ordering system for the next batch but I’m not sure on that yet, any suggestions or requests are welcome!

Even though I haven’t been updating daily here (which is going to change now we’ve got the net back) I have been doing my daily V-Logs. I have 18 days  up and running so far, I think we left off last time at day 5 so here’s the rest so far including lots of scenic views of our trip to Queensland! Hopefully you guys enjoy James and I arguing and making fun of each other because there’s a lot of that!

Right! I think that’s enough from me for now, I have to run to the post office and see if I can express some presents *_* I may just give up and send them all next week so I have more time to make them thoughtful.

Name Bunny Competition Winner and Round Up!

I missed yesterday because after several years talking online I finally got to meet the adorable Glo-w. So between that and going away on Thursday I’ve got a lot to catch up on today! Firstly I need to announce the winner of the name Miss Bunny competition 😀 This was such a hard competition to pick a winner of because there were so many good entries and so many of them fit her so perfectly. After thinking about it for several days and trying a few on them out on her I came to a decision…

The winner is Bergamot by The Moonlight Seedling!

Here’s her entry:

You seem to have found my good friend the Lady Bergamot! (Bergie for short) Bergamot was born in a field next to a tea factory in England, an Earl Grey tea factory to be precise, and grew up with her brothers and sisters. While her family was perfectly happy frolicking in the field, eating whatever was growing there, Bergamot liked to sneak into the factory and sample the fragrant tea, nibbling on the lovely scones some of the workers would leave out for her. Because she spent so much time in the factory, her soft fur became scented with the bergamot oil, so her mother named her Bergamot (though her mother insisted on pronouncing it “Berg-a-mo”, leaving the “t” silent, because she thought it sounded more fancy) Eventually, Bergamot acquired a taste for the finer things in life, and the factory workers dubbed her the “Lady of the Factory” (which made her blush so hard that it never went away!). She learned of things that normally go well with tea, such as lace and pearls and macarons. The staff made her and her family a nice cozy hutch in the garden behind the factory, decked out with soft, warm things, pink wallpaper, and all the tea and scones they could possibly want. One day a factory worker was looking a a website on her laptop, and it immediately caught Bergamot’s eye – a delicate flowery background, lavender and lilac and pink everywhere! There were tutorials about how to make cute clothes and accessories and how to do your hair and nails that all just looked sugar-sweet and perfect! Bergamot’s eyes got so wide and sparkly that they got stuck that way! The kind staff member told Bergamot all about this website. The lady who wrote it was named Violet, and she lived in Australia, and always had tea and yummy things, and loved little soft white bunnies! Bergamot was so enchanted, she wanted to go meet this wonderful lady, and maybe stay with her a while and learn how to make pretty things! However, being a bunny, she was used to being around a large family, and worried that she would be lonely with only one friend. Then the worker showed her Miss Violet’s Object of Affection – James! He could cook lovely things, many of which seemed to confuse Miss Violet, because he was from America, and they do funny things in America! So it was decided – Bergamot would go to live with Miss Violet and James in Australia, but she wanted it to be a surprise! So her flight was booked and her plans made in secret, without telling Miss Violet she was coming! She made a little bow out of a scrap of lace (to look more presentable), hugged her family and factory friends good-bye, got on her plane, and the next thing she knew, was sitting on Miss Violet’s doorstep, greeting her with her lovely bunny smile and a big box of Earl Grey tea from the factory!

The first time I saw the name I wasn’t sure about it because it didn’t seem particularly feminine but the more I said it, the more I fell in love with it because it reminded me of the stereotypical tomboyish romance novel Victorian lady who insists on being a little bit different. Now I can’t think of bunny as anything other than Miss Bergamot 😀 I picked Bergamot for a lot of reasons but especially because it is such a fancy original name, it gave me the idea that each different colour of bunny and animal could be named after different tea varieties 😀 The part in the story about James was so cute and the whole thing just fit so well with her. I’m planning to illustrate the story while I’m gone so I’ll post that when I get back too. Moonlight Seedling, I am sending you an email now to get your address and will post your bunny before I leave for Brisbane!

So please meet Miss Bergamot!

I want to give some special mention to some of the other entries as well because so much time, thought and effort was put into them. Special mentions:

  • Paige/Valentine Toffee Verquise- For coming up with such an involved story and giving all of the other animals parts too!
  • Yuehime/Yuki- For coming up with the whole family of bunnies! I loved the idea of her Dad being called Mr Mochi, so cute!!
  • Ling/Gyarubunny- For making me laugh at the idea of a bunny trying to learn to surf to impress a hot lifeguard!
  • Lilly/Porcelain- For an entry which sounded like a Miyazaki movie while still using the line “That’ll teach you to go wandering through the woods, interrupting people’s leisure moments!”. I laughed SO hard at that!
  • Cazz- For the awesomely feminine boy bunny Cornelius Bumblepatch, I am SO going to make Miss Bunny a love interest called Cornelius with a monocle and top hat 😀
  • Sherlyn Koh/BabyMallo- For such a sugary sweet story that was very very cute.
I really want to illustrate some of those stories too, they are all so cute!

I want to say thank you for the awesomeness so when the bunny store opens anyone who entered the competition will be emailed a special discount and I’m going to come up with something extra for the special mentions too because SO MUCH AWESOME! Thank you so much to everyone who entered!

Ok enough about bunnies for now, it’s video time ^_^

This week I didn’t have time to do many tutorials but I have started making a mini V-Log every day. I’m going to do one every day in December because it’s such a busy month for me. I thought it would be a fun way to show you some more of my life… and James features in them a lot too. So here are the ones I’ve put up so far.

Morning Make Up-

Day 2-

Day 3-

Day 4-

Day 5-

Next here are the week’s beauty reviews! I have a Vanity Box review going up here tomorrow and then photo versions of the video hair tutorials which were reader requests.

Ok! I think that’s it for now, I have to go start packing >_<

Today’s morning make up showcases my new obsession with blue eyeliner.
And also my lameness in debating if I need the new iphone 4s.
After my usual foundation routine I started by applying a thick winged line of liquid blue eyeliner.
James and I have a tradition of one upping each other in our phones.
My blue liner obsession started with this Mirenesse one, it’a such an interesting colour.
It started out when I got the iphone 3g and he swore he hated it.
To give definition I added a thin black line using liquid liner, very close to the lash line.
Then he stole it and I didn’t see it for 6 months while he played Bejewelled.
Eyeshadow time.
I applied a light blue all over the lid. I kept it very pale so it wasn’t too intense.
So after 6 months James got his own phone but he got the much better 3gs.
Blend up with some cream shimmer.
Finally this year I beat him again.
I added dark blue shadow matching the liner into the corner and crease to give a little depth.
My contract was up first so I got the iphone 4.
Use a fluffy brush to blend it in together well.
Of course now the 4s is out, his contract is up so I’m considering letting him upgrade.
I used a thick coat of mascara and regular false lashes.
Then stealing it to play bejewelled on as a payback.
Clearly we are both very mature.
With this look I only use a little bit of blush to avoid that 80’s feel.
Hmm so who will win the battle of the phones?
As always lipgloss is the last step.
It’s almost as bad as our scrabble games.
So there you have it, pale blue eyes which are quite wearable and a vicious cycle of phone out doing.
I hope this was a useful video, please check out the blog post linked in the description for more information and tutorials.
Thanks so much for watching.

Twisted Updo Summer Hair Style Instruction
Today’s hair tutorials is for a simple twisted updo.
First brush your hair and pin your fringe to the side.
Brush backwards as if making a low ponytail.
Brush back to one side and slide a pin in the bottom middle of the back and hold it in place.
Now to make the twist.
This is what it looks like from the back.
Pull up and to the side with the pin.
Twist slightly and fold the hair into itself.
Use your fingers to brush through and smooth the non-curl side so the hair sits straight across.
So the technique is twist and fold so the ends are on the inside.
Brushing up through the one side with your fingers makes it look a lot more like a twist than accidentally forming a bun.
To secure with a comb, grab the edge of the twist through the comb and pull to the left.
Flip it and push back into the twist anchoring it to the scalp.
You may need extra pins.
So this is what it looks like when going it from the front.
See the top part forms a cool spiral kind of thing.
Add extra pins into the spiral to secure the top part and use a lot of hair spray to keep it in place.
You can also lightly brush the sides to make sure they look smooth.
The final step for this is styling your fringe. I love using the VS Sassoon Big Styler for this because it gives a lot of volume.
And that’s it, all done.
It can take a few tries to get right depending on how well your hair is behaving at the time.
It’s a nice sleek and stylish look that goes well with so many fashion styles that it’s worth the effort.
I hope this was a useful video, please check out the blog post linked in the description for more information and tutorials.
Thanks so much for watching.

Sleek Updo Hair Tutorial James’ Excitement and 7 Beauty Reviews… Round Up!

It’s Monday so that means round up time ^_^

This week I uploaded the tutorial on how to do that twisted updo thingy that I wore during that pearl and lace comb tutorial back here. I am planning to take photos for photo versions of a lot of these tutorials this afternoon for those who can’t watch the videos/prefer photos. Hopefully they should be up later this week.

I also edited a mini V-Log on the day James got his camera a few months ago. He is adorable, and totally paid me back by filming me getting my new camera/early Christmas present on Friday so I guess I’ll have to put that up too haha!

As I mentioned last week I’m planning to do daily V-Logs through December but those will be edited less and probably shorter than my previos ones. I’m going to keep doing the longer ones too just not every day.

Also I’ve moved my beauty reviews to their own version of the site so click through any of the links below to check it out. This new beauty section won’t change anything here and if you want to follow the daily reviews you’ll need to subscribe there. Yay!

Now back to taking photos for me 😀 I lost a lot of the footage and photos for the scarf knitting tutorial so I’m going to refilm that today and finish up on the basic hime dress tutorial I was making too. I deco’d my new camera over the weekend too so now I want to make a matching strap too, photos soon! So many photos soon hahaha!
