New Craft Tutorials Page, Painting and Stuff- Round Up!

Round up time!

This Wednesday I’m going to be modeling Liz Lisa for the Glamaz  L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival catwalk show which is exciting! I have zero aspirations of being a runway model but this looks like it’s going to be a very fun night! Let me know if you’re coming so I can look out for you ^_^

Probably the most interesting for you guys though: I’ve been doing more work around the site, most notably check out the redesigned Tutorials page. I’m still arranging the categories but finally there are good sized thumbnails and it’s divided up for easy browsing. YAAAAY!

Video from last week, only one but I should be back to regular posting this week assuming I get to stay home and edit for the week.

It’s a painting of the lovely Nessbow!

Violet’s Painting Adventures- Nessbow

This is a portrait of my friend Vanessa from Nessbow. Check out her channel below, she’s one of the nicest people I’ve ever met! Thanks for letting me paint you Vanessa!

Check out Nessbow’s sites here:

This is a new kind of video I’m trying out: art! Over the holidays I got back into watercolours after several years or not painting at all. I am definitely very out of practice with my painting but I would love to continue this series so I can improve more.

Speed painting… Nessbow!
Today I’m painting Nessbow!
Another in my blogger speed painting series.
I started by machine a basic outline in sepia.
Ness writes about fashion and beauty.
Then I did a basic wash of the skin.
And a blue wash on the dress.
I filled in the other basic colours on the hair and flowers.
She also writes about self esteem and being yourself.
I find her to be a really inspiring person both in fashion sense and her outlook on life.
She’s always so positive and full fo great ideas.
More hair details.
Ness has written ebooks and podcasts about developing personal style.
A patchy light purple background.
Her outfit posts are a source of awesome creativity too.
Shadows on the skin and some more definition.
Ness and her partner Ross love comics so I wanted to catch that style!
The comic style of drawing is actually one of my favorites.
And this is one of the first times I’ve translated it into a full painting.
Now adding some detail to the body shot.
She also has an etsy store where she sells her super cute fashion.
This look is quite cartoonish so I outlined everything in thick black,
Oh and her Youtube channel has vlogs and tutorials too!
Clearly she’s a very busy girl.
I have a unique insight because she has been one of my window shopping buddies since moving here!
She just moved away though so I don’t think we’ll be able to window shop for a while.
Hopefully she can come visit again soon!
Thick purple stripes for the background and it’s almost done!
Lastly I touched up a few areas with a pen.
I’ve linked everything in the description so go check NessBow out!
Done!
Hope you enjoyed seeing my version of Nessbow, make sure you check out her links in the description!
The next in my series will be none other than James!
Thanks so much for watching!

Video Tutorial Round Up Time!

It’s been another crazy week, there was a film crew at my house and between that, James’ birthday and some events I haven’t really gotten anything at all done.

For his birthday James asked for both of us to take some time off this week to just do things together so I’m really looking forward to doing that because it means I can put my plan of redecorating the house and doing some crafty type things into action 😀

Speaking of which… I’m clocking off now so I can finish decorating James’ late birthday cupcakes so see you all tomorrow!

The only video I managed to upload this week:

Simple Pull Through Ponytail Hair Style Instructions.
Today’s style is a nice twist (pun totally intended) on a simple ponytail.
This style was really popular when I was in primary school.
First put your hair in a high ponytail.
Pull the elastic down a bit and split the hair under it in half with your fingers.
You need to make a hole there.
Flip the ponytail forward and then pull it through the hole you made last step.
Pull the elastic a little tighter so it’s secure.
So one more time for the detail.s
Pull the elastic out a bit.
Make a hole above the elastic by splitting the hair into two sections.
Poke your fingers through.
Flip the hair forward and pull it through the hole that you made.
So basically what you have is a ponytail which looks as if it was made from two twists.
From the back it looks like this.
It can take a little practice to get it to sit the way you want but the result is worth it.
Add a stylish bow to the top and you’ve got a pretty alternative to a regular ponytail.
I hope this was a useful video, please check out the blog post linked in the description for more information and tutorials.
Thanks so much for watching.
Bye!

Hair and Make Up Video Tutorial Round Up… lots of videos!

Sorry for the lack of posting the last week, things were really hectic when we got back from Sydney and on top of that I managed to catch a horrible cold somewhere along the way that I’m still fighting off.

Enough of that though, it’s time for the round up!

Over the weekend I did a huge amount of back end maintenance which involved basically rebuilding the site from scratch. I only got about half way because of my cold but yay for a faster running site 😀  I’ll finish up the rest this week/weekend but until then things might be a little out of place. If anything is too terrible just drop me a line and I’ll look into it!

Also I’ve started a really big project this week: redecorating the entire apartment! This means more storage posts and tutorials soon because I’m feeling very inspired again. There’s a long rambling emotional post coming up on that too XD

So lots to come and lots to do. Hope you all had an awesome weekend!

Videos since last round up:
