Fooooood Friday 😀 And it’s time to use the chocolate left over from last week’s decoration ^_^ To do so I’m going to make little presents for my friends… ok maybe I’m just going to eat it but we’ll see!
This idea was another one from a Japanese magazine a bajillion years ago. Cute little disposable spoons filled with chocolate fudge or chocolate something, I did mine with chocolate ganache. And I did it the laziest way possible which makes it even more awesome 😉
You need:
- Chocolate
- Microwave
- Sprinkles/decorations/icing
- Disposable spoons
- Thickened cream
Step one, get chocolate.
Step two, try not to eat chocolate.
Step three, buy more chocolate.
Break the chocolate into small pieces in a bowl.
If you’re really into it you could use a double boiler system to melt the chocolate but like I said, I’m lazy. I used the microwave. Put it in for 15sec at a time until it’s around 2/3rds melted.
Let the hot bowl melt it the rest of the way, this way you won’t burn it.
To turn it to ganache you need thickened cream.
Add a spoon full…
Mix it very thoroughly, it looks pretty gross.
Keep mixing until it gets much darker and really shiny. At this point you’re forgiven if you want to eat a few spoon fulls ;P
Grab yourself some pretty spoons…
And put the ganache in! If you want to be anal about it you could pipe it in but that just dirties something else.
Once they’ve cooled down a bit you can decorate them. I used left overs from the last lot so I added a bunch of sprinkles.
And piped a heart and a V so it’s like saying “Love Violet”.
Let them cool in the fridge and you’ve got some delicious spoons. That’s it! These are great to take to parties or as gifts etc.
So now you just have to give them to your friend… yeah of course… definitely don’t just eat them all. I mean that would mean you have pretty much no self control huh? Oh… right.
Yeah, sorry friends who I said would get these.

I’ve always wanted a set of suspenders but I had no clue whether I would wear them. So, rather than waste money I decided to see if I could make some out of stuff I already had then I could test them out with my wardrobe.
What you need:
- Ribbon
- Paper clips
- Scissors
- Needle and thread
- Decorations (I used little bunny appliques)
- Metal letter clip things
First off apologies, some of the photos are pretty blurry because I tried to use James’ new camera without having any clue about the settings. Fail on my part! You can still pretty much see what’s going on though ^_^
The first thing to do is cut the ribbon into 3 pieces, 2 long and 3 shorter. The long ones should be enough to go from your waist, over your shoulders to the middle of your back and the short one goes from the middle of your back to your waist again.
Melt the ends with a lighter to prevent fraying, be very careful not to burn yourself. Depending on the kind of ribbon you have it might not be necessary.
Stitch the ribbons into the Y shape. The long ribbons at the top and the short one at the bottom.
Cover the stitching with something cute… like bunnies 😉
Fold the end of the short ribbon under and stitch it in place. You might want to fold it twice to seal the edge.
Taadaa…
These are the clips I’m using, they were 6 for $1.50 at a junk store and have a strong spring in them, you could also use bulldog clips or even pegs for a cute rustic look^_^
Sew the folded end onto the clip. If you want you could cover it with another bunny but I thought it looked ok like this.
From the back:
Now the other sides are a bit trickier, they involve making kind of a belt system out of paper clips!
Start by folding the edge of the ribbon up and stitching that in place.
Slide a paper clip on like this:
Fold the end of the ribbon up and slip the sewn loop at the end on to the bottom arm of the paper clip to hold it in place. Sure this probably won’t last through *heavy* wear but it worked for me all day.
Now we need a way to attach it to the clip without sewing it so it can’t adjust. So add another paper clip to the bottom loop like this:
And stitch the paperclip to the back part of the clip.
Repeat on the other side and you’ve got yourself some make shift suspenders 😀
I think I might deco the metal ends of these 😀
You would be surprised how well the paperclips work at holding it up, I think it’s probably a combination of the fact that I used thick ribbon and the fact that it’s made of cotton not slippery satin.
Now let’s see if I actually wear them much 😀
I’m totally one step away from getting some 80’s style piano key ones mwahahaha!

Bobbly Updo Hairstyle Instructions
Hello and welcome to another hair tutorial!
This look is a different take on a standard updo.
I do this style mostly when I haven’t washed my hair in a while and want to hide oily roots.
So the first step is to use a dry shampoo.
Pull the hair up into a high ponytail.
I like this style because once it’s in place and pinned it takes a lot to ruin, great for windy days.
On the final pull through the elastic, don’t pull the ends completely through.
It should look something like this with ends at the front.
Push the ends to the side for now.
Take a section of the loop and pull it to the side.
Pinch it in half so it forms two loops and then pin back to your head.
Keep going taking section by section, pinch them in half and pin down.
Pin some to the front and some to the back so they eventually hide the hairband.
It should start to look like a bunch of random bobby loops, hence the name of the tutorial.
Keep going until you run out of hair.
Now let’s deal with the front bits.
Grab your straightener and use it to curl them slightly.
If you don’t like the way they sit you can pin them up higher.
This probably works better if you have shorter hair than me.
If you’re like me, you’ll probably get distracted talking to your friend while you do it.
Pin, curl and straighten until you’re happy.
Finally add a pretty hair clip to finish it off.
I’m using a headband but worn horizontally so it looks into the updo.
Hairspray and you’re good.
Done and ready for a yummy dinner with friends.
I hope this was a useful video, please check out the blog post linked in the description for more information and tutorials.
Thanks so much for watching.
Bye!

Foooood Friday! Today I show you my attempts at a yummy idea I saw in a Japanese magazine like 1 years ago XD Basically the idea was for people strapped for time who wanted to make presents for friends/whatever that were personalised you could take a block of chocolate and decorate the flat side. Easy done 😀
My attempts? Well baking is not my strong point but I’ll be damned if I don’t give it a go XD
What you need:
- Chocolate block
- Icing powder
- Water
- Peppermint essence
- Sprinkles
- Mini marshmallows
- Food colouring
- Freezer bag
First make up some icing, you probably won’t need very much so just stick some icing powder into a bowl, measuring is for suckers 😉
Add a little peppermint essence:
I really wish these stupid bottles came with dropper tops, it’s quite hard to get the right amount out *_*
Add a few drops of food colouring if you want.
Mix together and if needed add a few drops of water at a time until it’s a consistency you can pipe.
Mine was a bit too runny so watch out for that!
Take a break and have a cup of tea because you’ve worked hard so far 😛
Now you need to cut a piece of chocolate to use as the canvas. If you’re like me you probably cheaped out and bought the home brand chocolate so don’t expect too much quality-wise 😉
Decide how much chocolate you will use based on how much you love the person you’re giving it to. I’m giving mine to James… this much?
Hell no I’m not giving away that much chocolate! Realistic:
I love him but I also love chocolate! Unrepentant!
Pour the icing into a corner of the freezer bag.
Snip a tiny corner off so it becomes a make shift piping bag… or you could just use a real one.
Now pipe on a pretty design 😀 I wrote “James” and drew a heart… unfortunately I was a little over ambitious with the S so it looks more like “Jimmy”…
…then it melted a bit so it looked more like Jsmnay.
I piped around the outside too as a border.
While the icing is still wet add sprinkles all over it.
And brush off any extras.
He loves little marshmallows so using some more icing like glue I made a border of them.
Taadaa…
And because it already looked pretty hilarious I added some more icing on top. I’m deleting all of the inappropriate comments James keeps trying to add in here about what it really looks like.
So stick it in the fridge to set and add a cute bag!
Present for you!
Taaadaaaa! I love you Jsmnay! Even if sometimes I’m not sure why…
-_-‘
So I’m sure if you were better at baking/decorating you would be able to draw something actually cute on there! And hopefully the person you give yours to won’t be silly enough to try and eat the cute bag. Happy Food Friday!

Another quick easy prop hat to add to my growing collection 😀 This time I wanted a uniform/70’s flight attendant/military-ish hat for my website introduction video! Again I didn’t want to put a huge amount of time/effort into something I would probably only use this once and maybe as a purikura prop so quick stitching and felt to the rescue!
I used:
- Pink felt
- White felt
- Needle, thread, scissors
I cut out a football shape for the top out of white… |
Folded it in half and then stitched up the fold to give it a seam.
Next I cut 2 squares of white and 2 rectangles of pink (half the height of the white) which were long enough to go around the sides.
Stitched the pink around the edges with the white football piece folded up like this:
Stitch up the sides too:
Flip it inside out and you should get something like this (but with the sides stitched up).
Fold the white squares in half…
And place them at an angle on the sides.
If you stitch it in place and then fold the bit underneath and stitch. Taadaa hat!
Seriously this is a pretty shoddy hat but it did it’s job! You’ll have just to wait for the project it’s being used in to see it on me though ^_^
Now if you want to see some awesome proper hat tutorials you should check out some of The Fashionate Traveller’s posts she makes some awesome hats!

Welcome to a fun new series of videos that I’m doing.
It’s called Morning Make Up with Violet and that pretty much describes it.
This is my first finished look.
Rather than doing complete from scratch tutorials every time I’m going to do short videos which have basic instructions as I do my make up to go out.
First step is foundation and mascara.
I love experimenting with make up so this will be a fun way for me to try new things and loks I normally wouldn’t.
Next thing to do is add small corner false lashes.
I’ll probably talk about my life along the way here too so hopefully you find it interesting.
Today I’m using minimal foundation for a fresh look.
I hate waiting for lashes to dry so I tend to sing terribly and dance around while I wait.
Now it’s time for thin eyeliner with a bit of a wing at the end.
My foundation is pretty shiny, I forget how terrible shimmery BB cream looks on camera.
Today I was getting dressed up for a double date with Celina and Toby.
Celina does beautiful make up tutorials and Toby makes awesome music, check out their links in the description.
I applied a light cream as a highlighter under the brows and down to the crease.
Yellow tones are really starting to grow on me more.
Bright metallic gold all over the lids.
We ended up going to dinner at Hanaichi for Japanese curry and chicken nanban.
I added a subtle light pink in a pointed C shape and blended into the gold.
James love Japanese style pork curry so funny because before he met me he would have never thought of trying it.
Start adding hot pink over the lighter pink at the lash line.
Until the camera falls down.
Oops you guys ok in there?
Nothing broken? good.
After that excitement keep adding the hot pink to blend in to the liner and give it some depth.
James had never tried bubble tea until we started dating either, he pretended to like it for months because I did.
Take the pink right along the lash line.
Eventually he fessed up to not liking it but after drinking it for so long it actually grew on him and now he loves it.
Use a nude liner along half the bottom of the eye and extend the wing out.
I thought it needed more gold so I added more to the bottom inner corners of my eyes.
Lastly I packed on some bronze shadow over the bottom liner for sparkle.
I’ve been considering turning the comments section on YT on lately, I don’t at the moment because I have enough trouble replying quickly on my blog.
What do you think? Do you prefer to comment here on YT? Would you mind if I didn’t reply as quickly?
As always let me know if you have any suggestions!
Lastly I added some nude lipstick and a bit of gloss over the top.
Editing this is making me hungry for curry again!
All done and ready for a night out of the town. So there you have it. I hope you had as much fun watching as I did going out to dinner!
I hope this was a useful video, please check out the blog post linked in the description for more information and tutorials.
Thanks so much for watching.
Bye!
