This random footpath drawing is something that I believe in above all other things. Luck doesn’t just happen, it’s something you control!
How have you guys been this week? I’ve been good, just plodding along with work. I did manage to take a little time to stop and enjoy things though!
I’ve done so much work this month! I’ve planned out all of my posts this year in advance so I can actually be ahead of schedule and make more awesome things!
I may have bought these candles just to get the cute little trinkets inside them >_>
I wanted one of these cute little trees but they were sold out before I could get one!
I managed to drop a tripod on my foot >_<
Bonus photo which will scar you for life: One of James’ photography clients is a school where people learn about aged care nursing. They have the scariest mannequins EVER!!
It seemed a great time for a Home Sweet Home Garden update… mostly because everything in our garden is pretty much dead haha!
Everything was actually going really well during the initial phase and we were ready to begin harvesting things including the radishes which is what I was really looking forward to!
While a lot of the flowers weren’t growing over their entire boxes they were definitely alive and kicking.
The inside herbs and flowers were doing really well too, there was lots of natural light for them and other than a few little bugs they were surviving nicely.
Even my peppermint which I had assumed was never going to sprout made an appearance!
It almost looks as if there’s a garden there… almost!
Then in the space of a 4 day heat wave… everything died >_< I think most of you will have heard me complaining about the heat on social media. We had 4 consecutive days over 43 degrees Celsius and it got up to 45 on some of those days. It went from 20 degrees on Sunday to 43 on Tuesday *_*
Unfortunately… nothing in our garden survived that intense heat!
On the first day we watered like crazy and tried to shade them.
It didn’t really help! We have no air conditioning and because our apartment was built in the 1800’s it is basically just a big heat box so the inside plants didn’t do any better.
Wilted chives!
The birds took this as a hint to try and eat my radishes too >_<
By the third day this had happened and I had given up…
Poor sad radishes! You will never be part of a delicious salad R.I.P. ;_;
So very sad! It kind of looks like a plant horror movie.
Once it cooled down again we tried to revive them but there was no hope.
All of the neighbours plants died too so our apartment block just looks really depressing at the moment. The only thing that survived was William, our Billy Idol Day tree.
I’m going to try growing some new plants again in a month or so when I have time to take care of them again but this time I’m just going to go to a nursery and buy some ready gown plants which are a bit more hardy against Melbourne’s terrible weather!
This post continues on from my last Where I Walk series of photos. I think Melbourne is just as beautiful as Europe so I was interested to see what I could capture here!
Lottie desperately had to get in on it…
But she wanted me to follow her more often than not >_>
My friends -_-‘
Bonus, here are some more shots from Melbourne’s floor ^_^
For Celina’s birthday we went to Vue De Monde. Holy bajeebus was it fancy. Basically it’s known for being a bit avantgarde and experimental with food and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
It’s right at the top of the building and there are panoramic views of Melbourne like this everywhere you look.
It was the fanciest place I’ve ever been and honestly I don’t know if I’ll ever get a chance to do something luxurious like this again so I was determined to enjoy every single moment of it.
We were served several “snacks” before the degustation courses began… the snacks were almost a meal in themselves!
I’m not a food blogger and honestly I couldn’t tell you what was in most of the courses (even though it was explained in great detail to us all as we ate) but… look how pretty it all was!
The table was covered in rocks, sticks and naturish things. The interesting thing was that as the meal progressed every single one was used. Some of the rocks held knives, the sticks were used for cutlery holders and other things were used for serving, it was very cute!
There were so many edible flowers. I love edible flowers. I’m pretty sure it’s an osmosis thing, the more cute things you eat, the cuter you get 😛
I loved the cutlery, I want this in my house so much.
This was totally cool, they made onion soup in a special coffee maker which sucked the liquid up to the top section. It was delicious!
I really enjoyed tasting so many new flavours!
The lovely birthday girl!
One of my favourite dishes, it was made up of leaves and flowers which the servers poured liquid nitrogen over and we got to crush in a mortar and pestle then we added it to icecream. So much of a flavour punch!
SO MUCH FOOD! By the end I was so full, we were there for over 4 hours of constant eating *_*
But there was still more food… desserts!
It was probably good that we got to walk some of it off on the way home.
Random tangent: I walked past this place and had to take a photo of the gigantic giraffe! I want to go back in daylight and see it properly now!
Anyway on the way out of Vue De Monde we were given a breakfast bag for the following day. It had locally produced honey, fresh bread, biscuits and muesli.
Bee!
It was a really delicious breakfast and a lovely thought. The bread was really sweet and delicious.
Epic experience over!! Now I just need to make this happen on a weekly basis XD
I promised myself that we would visit the beach at least once before it got cold again.
While we did get to the beach, the weather was a bit…
But it didn’t stop us from having some fun!
This smile actually says “Yay I’m getting sand blown in my face by this intense wind!”.
It’s a little hard to see in the photo but there were little seagull footprints all around these lost feathers.
James made friends with a bouncy ball he found. Then he lost it in the ocean… then he rescued it from the ocean… then he lost it in the ocean again >_> It was an emotional day for him.
Afterwards we went to La Porchetta for lunch and it was actually really yummy. It looked like a repurposed RSL but it was so good!
Bonus pic:
I did wonder a bit as to the cause of these instructions for our left overs. I mean seriously, did someone actually get sick and sue over something like this? INSANITY.
