I realised over my crafting holiday that for some reason I’ve amassed a lot of coloured wire in my stash. No freaking clue how it got there but I figured if it’s there I might as well use it!
So the first thing I made was a little flower hair clip. It’s pretty crazy looking but I really like it.
I used:
- Wire in various colours
- Bobby pin
Originally I was planning to make this into a magnet but I went with hair clip instead. You could really put whatever backing on that you want though!
I did the flower in two sections. The middle out of yellow and the outside out of red. For the inside I made loops of wire…Then twisted them leaving the end as a circle.
I made a bunch of them like this…
Done! Next the red section. I wrapped the red wire around my fingers…
Then used some pliers to twist the ends together.
It ended up like a tear drop shape.
I flared the end loops out to form petals.
After making a second one I placed them on top of each other with the twisted ends in the middle.
To make the flower a bit fuller I wrapped the wire around my fingers again and twisted in the middle.
I flared it out and then placed it on top of the first red parts. I tied them all together with more wire and then added the yellow part in the middle.
Everything was held together with wire and then I inserted the bobbypin and wrapped it in with more wire.
Done!
You could make so many variations on this style.
I could really picture a gigantic version of this perched on top of a big bun, pinup style!
Now to think of what to make with the rest of the wire! |

Today is James’ birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAMES!!
We’re going to go eat a lot of pizza and watch movies all night to celebrate so I’ll catch up on everything in the morning. It’s relaxing time now 😀
Now a quick craft that I made as a Christmas gift. It’s a cute little paper holder which you can stick on your fridge…
I didn’t think to take a lot of the photos for this one so we’ll call it a quick craft!
I made it from:
- Wire
- Mini pegs
- Magnets
- Hot glue
- Cute charms
I cut wire lengths for the bottom.
I glued the pegs to the ends.
Then on top I glued the little charms. These were ones I made lots of ages go out of paper clay.
I placed them at different lengths.
And twisted the ends of the wires together.
I shaped the twist into a heart.
Added a bow…
And stuck a magnet on behind it.
Easy to make and a cute present to give! They’re great to stick on the fridge to hold important business cards. |

Argh Summer (which has turned very wet and cold this week) has brought out my obsession of daisies again! I took down my wall of daisies a couple of months ago so I now have 50 or so of these little flowers laying around just waiting for fun adorable crafts to happen with them 😀
So the first thing I did with them was make some fridge magnets!
You need:
- Fake flowers
- Hot glue
- Felt
- Magnet strips
These daisies came on a big long chain which I dismantled, you can generally pull apart any cheap fake flowers and get something like this.
Because I want them to sit flat I snipped off the pointy part which attached to the stem.
Then I cut some little squares of magnet strips. The base of the flower is curved so I used felt to create a new base for the magnet to sit on.
Cut a circle of felt and leaving a little room in the middle, hot glue two of the sides like this.
Glue down the other two sides when the first ones are dry. Don’t pull it tight otherwise it won’t form a flat base.
Press down the middle bubble of felt with your finger and it should form a little flat square of felt.
Bam! You have a flat area to stick your magnet to… so glue it down ^_^
Winner!
Now make about 50 more and you’ve got an awesome fridge waiting to happen 😀
Any suggestions for other crafts using these? I’m going to make some hair pins/velcro/alice bands with them 😀 If it’s going to be stupidly hot and Summery I’m going to beat the weather at it’s own game >:D |

Last week’s big week is stretching into a big couple of weeks, I think I’ll need a holiday to get over it all 😉
Very important news first for readers who follow my posts via Google Friend Connect.
Google will no longer be offering the friend connect service to blogs hosted outside of Blogger. Basically sucks to everyone who has built a community and the readers who enjoy reading a variety of sites. So around next week my updates will no longer appear in your Friend Connect Feed >_<
If you still want to receive my updates you have a lot of other options to continue reading so here’s a handy list to make the transition as easy as possible:
So that’s it, if you want to continue following give one of those options a try or if you have any suggestions just let me know! I’ll be sending a reminder message via the GFC app later in the week.
Secondly….
The site will most likely be down this weekend and it’s going through some major back end maintenance. I will post the times and updates during on my Facebook page so follow there to keep up to date.
Thirdly…
Anyone have any awesome PS3 games they can recommend me? We’ve gone through all of ours and I totally need something to de-stress to at night!
On to something a bit more interesting…
Another super quick but effective craft for gifting today: monogrammed slippers 😀
I made these ones for James’ Mum ^_^
It takes about 10 minutes to do so these are awesome for last minute gifts too!Buy some slippers, I happened to find these cute one at Target and while they were super cute as-is I wanted to make them a bit more personal.Draw your letters on some felt.
And cut them out.
Attach with hot glue or by stitching. I chose hot glue because I was pressed for time.
DONE!
Seriously that’s it…
Completely adorable and you could customise the idea a lot depending on the kind of slippers you were starting with. It’s quite cost effective too because you can get slippers similar to these ones at junk stores or places like Daiso for under $5.
Now I want to do some for me! I bought some super puffy Mario mushroom slippers in the Boxing Day sales so I really want to make them cuter 😀 |

My wonderful friend BGDino sent me a very fun cross stitch kit in her last package… a dinosaur! It looks exactly like her mascot so I couldn’t wait to give it a go 😀
The contents included a cute little hoop for display as well 😀Half way through I decided that I wanted to go a slightly different direction to the pattern and give it a more pixel-art feeling with a thick black border and by following the squares rather than diagonal curves.
So funny, the instructions were very explicit in how many threads to use warning you not to run out… I ran out anyway XD Luckily I had the exact same green in my stash already!
My finished dinosaur!
I added in the stripy long stitch background and I’m thinking I should totally deco the frame with some green jewels, what do you think?
Love it! Thank you very much Dino! Such a cute little dinosaur and he’s living on my dressing table now 😀

Violet- It’s really not that hard.
James- Ok it’s doing it again.
Violet- Doing what?
James- Recoding.
What, I have big man fingers.
Violet- Yeah that’s your excuse for everything.
Violet- Hello
James- Hello again though you won’t be seeing the first one.
Violet- We just recorded this whole thing and now we’re doing it for a second time because somebody’s big man fingers didn’t press record properly.
James- Someone’s big man fingers pushed the record button but then…
Violet- Twice
James- You can’t tell when it’s recording!
Violet- Check the back, it’s not hard. Anyway…
James- We made a new channel.
Violet- Stop interrupting me!
James- That’s the first time I’ve interrupted you.
Violet- We made a new channel for all of our vlogs and fun random stuff around Melbourne and we just pretty much argue with each other constantly. So this channel will just be for tutorials and crafts and make up
James- Stuff that I’m not in so you’re probably not interested in.
Violet- Yeah exactly. So if you want to see more of James then there will be an annotation somewhere around here I’m going to put it on your face.
James- Click my face.
Violet- Click James’ face for our new channel which is Violet’s V-logs… you know with Jimmy too I guess. I don’t like him enough to put him in the actual url.
James- Happy Valentines Day
Violet- Happy Valentines Day, happy Valentines Day you guys.
James- Yes
Violet- But anyway, go take a look at the new channel. For the first week we’re going to be uploading videos every day. Just like we did in December. And after that it will be one per week. It won’t effect the stuff on here at all, it will just be new stuff going up over there.
Click James’ face now!
James- Ow, you didn’t have to click me in the eye. No, no, no, no. Would any of you like to be my Valentine?
Violet- That’s a mean thing to do!
James- They didn’t try to poke me in the eye.
Violet- So I hope you guys enjoy it and we’ll see you all later! Bye!
James- Bye!
