Sometimes you want to enjoy the fun of having short hair but without committing to a cut.
What to do? Faux bob style.
You need a brush, pins and hairspray.
Start with clean hair and give it a good brush through.
Section it evenly into two parts.
If you need to, pin your fringe out of the way.
There are several ways to create this style, I will show you two of them.
First the plaited version.
Take one section and start around half way down. Plait loosely until you reach the end.
Tie off.
Repeat the other one and then realise you forgot to get a second hair tie.
Look around frantically then give up and go to the bathroom to find one.
Take 2.
Plait the other side loosely from about half way down to the bottom.
You should have something along these lines.
Now, take one of the plaits and curl it underneath and into a loop.
Roll the loop up towards your head.
Once happy with the shape, pin it in place.
This may take a lot of pins depending on how heavy your hair is.
The plaited version of this style gives a more natural bottom to the bob because of the divided sections.
Repeat on the other side.
Curl it under and up to form a loop then keep rolling up.
Pin it securely in place.
Almost done.
Here’s a side view.
Curl the plait up and pin in place.
Ok now the other technique to get to this point uses ponytails.
Section the hair and tie half away with hair bands.
To create more volume at the front you can pull the ponytails backwards so the hair shifts through the band.
When the ponytails are in front of the area near your chin bubbles.
Now it’s just a matter of using the same technique again.
Curl the bottom of the pony tail upward to form a loop.
Keep going until the band is hidden and pin in place.
Using ponytails rather than plaits give the final lok a very even perfect finish around the bottom.
You can see the coil of hair when it’s pulled back.
One side done.
Now just repeat on the other side.
Curl it under until the band is hidden and pin in place.
Sometimes it can be hard for the pins to grip in your hair.
You might find it easiest to push the pins through the actual band to hold them there.
Regardless of which method used to pin up the hair you should now lightly brush back to make sure there is no join between the bunches.
A little hairspray all over will secure everything in place.
Depending on how you curl it, you can change the angle of the bob.
Lastly you just need to straighten your fringe out and make sure it follows the lines of the bob.
This style works best if you have layers around your face which are around the same length as the bob.
Add a bow if you like and you’re all finished!
For extra bonus points I decided to curl my fringe under and curl the side bits too.
It took a little while to get working as I have had a side swept fringe for a long time.
Worth the extra time though, I love curls.
All finished!
I think this is a really fun way to experiment with shorter hair without having to actually chop it off.
Now all you need is some place nice to wear it and some pretty sparkles to match.
I hope this was a useful video, please check out the blog post linked in the description for more information and tutorials.
Thanks so much for watching.

How To Do A Double Bun Hairstyle Video

This week is shaping up to be a week full of videos I think! Today is the last video Celeste and I made before I upgraded all my lighting so be prepared for awesomeness to come ^_^ I’ve finally finished my crochet bunny tutorial with the video too so that will be up mid week YAY! I really can’t wait to post some of the ones I’ve been working on because the quality is finally something I’m happy about XD

Buuuut back on topic. Today’s video with Celeste is all about the double hair buns. I did a tutorial on double buns quite a while ago but again somethings are easier to understand in video so hopefully this is helpful.

Again imagine this conversation going on:

Violet: I really like this style on you.

Celeste: You think? I bet if James had hair you would play with it all the time.

Violet: Yeah  but I imagine he would shave it just to avoid me doing this to him!

Celeste: You’ve just got to catch him while he’s sleeping and glue a wig on!

Violet: Ooooh that’s not a bad idea!

Celeste: Hime-wig-James!!!

Violet: Double bun James!!

James: *silently plans to return to Russia and never come back*

In case all of you were wondering as much as I was… this is what double bun James would look like mwahahahaha!

Head over to Celeste’s post to see the nice photos!

Hope the video was a bit useful and everyone had a good weekend! Looking forward to putting up the crochet tutorial 😀

Curly Gyaru Updo Hairstyle Tutorial With Celeste

After the fun we had last post I decided I would share all of the videos Celeste and I made the last time she was here. After finishing up with her Hime style squid hair we decided to give one of my favorite styles a try: big curly one sided up do thingy covered in flowers. Catchy name yes?

I will be doing a lot of these videos again as proper tutorials once I get Sophie back from the laptop fixing place because James has set me up a fancy new video area with nice lighting and a backdrop.  Celeste is coming back soon so we can do more together too!

Again no talking, just music so feel free to imagine this conversation in the background:

Violet: I think this style is kind of Marie Antoinette-ish at least that era. Well maybe not in a really historically accurate way but still pretty.

Celeste: Pft very pretty. Almost as pretty as Nyan cat!

Violet: Hahaha! James has been trying to play that all morning on his guitar>_<

Celeste: I wonder if I could get my school band to play?

Violet: Nyan orchestra! So cute!

Celeste: I like this style, very pretty.

Violet: You should do it at home for work!

Celeste: Meh too hard to get up that early XD

Violet: True, also get up so much earlier just to look like the wind blew your hair over to one side and you fell in a garden of flowers?

Celeste: Ahahahahaha!! *sending photos to roommate*

Roommate: Cyndie Lauper!!!

Violet and Celeste: -_-‘

Hope you enjoyed!

So if you want to see the photos James took of Celeste or read more about our day, check her post over here!

Side note: I managed to find a place to fix Sophie, thanks for all of your suggestions guys!! She should be back in action tomorrow-ish 😀

Today on Violet Vision.
Big curly updo.
You need a hair curler/straightener, bobby pins, flower pins, hairspray.
The finished look.
Proper photos in the blog post.
Celeste’s hair was already mostly curled from the last style.
We did this look after taking out hime style hair so the top was uncurled.
You can use a curling wand, straightener or pin curls.
Doesn’t really matter as long as it’s mostly curly.
Pull the hair up into a high pony tail.
Use fingers not a brush so it’s not too neat.
Leave a couple of the curls hanging on one side.
Twist the ponytail once and bunch to the scalp.
Scrunch the curls towards the scalp and pin in place.
Bunch most at the top and over one side.
Fix up any curls which need it with the straightener.
Add lots of hairspray.
Add flower hair pins all over the place.
Taadaa finished.
Quickly, send more photos to the housemate.
Thanks for watching, see you next time.

Medium Length Hime Gyaru Hairstyle Tutorial with Celeste Video

A while ago Celeste came to visit and we decided to have some fun and experiment with various fun hair styles and make up 😀 Celeste had never tried big hime style hair before so I thought I would use her as a life sized doll and play with her hair. We made a quick little video showing the steps. I thought I would post it because I often get questions about my hair. While I’ve done tutorials in the past this might be useful as you can see a bit of detail and how quick it is to create.

That and you can enjoy giggling at us as we go. The audio was no good but if you can imagine this conversation in the background you’re pretty much set…

Violet: *does hair*

Celeste: :O it’s huge!

Violet: Bigger the better 😀

Celeste: *trying very hard to muffle juvenile laughter*

Violet: Ahahahahaha bigger the better, I get it!

Celeste: *Sends photos to room mate*

Roommate: ZOMG SQUID HEAD!!

Celeste: -_-‘

Violet: *snicker snicker snicker*

And much laughter was had all around.

So hope that was a little useful ^_^ We did a couple of other styles which I will posts too. Next time we do something like this I’ll have a new lighting set up so everything will be nicer quality yay!
