After almost a year since the last one of these painting videos I find myself getting back into painting… again.. again?
I tend to only paint when I am relaxed and have lots of time so it doesn’t happen too often. I like to find the perfect tv show or video game that can occupy my mind while I paint. We’ve just finished playing Assassin’s Creed Revelations and to be honest it kind of sucked and I didn’t find it as inspiring as the previous two. So we started playing #2 again last night and I’m already in the mood to get out the water colours!
I think I’ll continue my series of portraits of inspiring people online as well as some other cute things… or realistically I’ll just keep doing portraits of Lottie XD I have a one track mind!
I was considering putting together a few basic tutorials on very beginners techniques for water colours so if you have any questions leave them in the comments!

How To Paint A Pomeranian Puppy.
Today I am sketching my puppy Lottie.
She has been featuring a lot in my Bergamot comics lately.
This is just a quick sketch so I started with pencils.
Then outlined it in pen.
When I started filling it in with a cream wash, the real puppy started getting interested!
I added some shading and a little red for the blush.
I then added in some background in purple.
And a couple of other details.
She’s pretty goofy in real life too!
Then it was time for the ultimate test of skill.
Does the real thing like it?
That’s a pretty resounding no.
Thanks anyway Lottie! I’ll do better next time and bribe you to life it with treats!

How to do glittered shoe soles.
Good morning!
Today I’m going to show you how to glitter some epic shoes!
Let’s get started!
I like to set up all of my supplies before I’ve started.
There’s something worse than realising you’ve forgotten something half way through.
You need fabric glue, glitter and a paint brush.
Start off by cleaning off the area you want to glitter.
With a small paint brush and glue paint a horizontal line to define where you want the glitter to end.
You don’t want to do the entire sole because it will just come off when you walk and it can make the surface a bit uneven.
You wouldn’t want to fall over when you’re out wearing something this high.
Now fill in the rest of the area with glue.
It’s very important that you use a glue that is not water soluble.
I’m using wash and wear fabric glue which is really great for this kind of thing.
You don’t want to leave a trail of glitter behind you every time it rains.
Time for my favorite part: the glitter waterfall.
Pour it all over the glue, no need to be careful here.
You can use any kind of glitter you like but I thought the gold would go really well with the leopard print!
You’ll notice that I’m doing all of this on top of some sheets of A4 paper, this is important and you’ll see why at the end.
Give everything a big shake to get rid of excess glitter.
Take that shoes, this is for my toes!
How can you look so pretty but be so painful!
Because I’m using such a strong glue these won’t need a top coat.
If you’re using something along the lines of PVA glue you will need to top coat it.
There is another tutorial on my blog with techniques for those kinds of glues.
Now remember the paper?
Once you’re done simply fold it up and pour the glitter back into the bag.
Cleaning up glitter can be a real pain but this makes it super quick.
Leave them to dry overnight or however long your glue requires.
Now let’s get back to the shoes.
Run your finger along the sides to clear away any glitter that may have stuck to the sides.
Then using a brush, dust away any excess glitter.
You probably wouldn’t want to use this brush on your face again unless you’re a big fan of a super glitter look!
Make sure you brush them quite hard or else you’ll be leaving a train of glitter everywhere.
Now you’re ready for a night on the town or maybe just looking your best to do some groceries.

Yay for more hairstyles 😀 This one is a big rolled vintagey style. I did a video on this one quite a while ago which is at the bottom of the post along with the downloadable version!
Let’s get into it, start with brushed hair.
You will need a hair sausage or something which can be put in the middle of the roll to pad it out. I did a tutorial a while ago on how to make your own sausage so check that out over here.
Start by brushing your hair backwards leaving a small section on either side of your face.
Decide roughly where you want the end result to sit on your head.
Gently hold the hair up like this:
If you don’t have a hair sausage you can use pretty much anything in that shape. Even a couple of clean socks rolled up will do 😉
Flip the ends of the hair over the sausage like this:
Gently roll the sausage and hair towards your head.
And it should end up like this:
Fluff out the sides so it covers the sausage completely. Pin it in place using bobby pins.
Now give it a a decent helping of hair spray.
Next curl the sections of hair you left down at the front.
You can leave them down like this as a softer version of the look.
Otherwise you can just fold the hair up so it follows the same curve of the roll and pin in place. It should hide the ends of the sausage completely.
Now just style your fringe.
As a finishing touch I like to add a some flowers at the top of the roll or a string of pearls.
All done!
This is a great style for summer as it keeps the hair off your neck.

Just a quick video while I edit the rest of my backlog. A lot of people asked for a tutorial on how I did the decoden on my phone case so this time I actually filmed a video and included the basics. Spreading the glue out like this is the quickest technique but it’s a lot neater if you place a dot of glue on each jewel as you go. .

How to make a decoden bling bunny phone case.
Today I’ll show you guys how I made my decoden iPhone case.
It’s Spring themed and uses a Bergamot Bunny charm.
First lay the main design out so you can see how it looks.
Mix equal parts of epoxy glue.
Make sure to mix it evenly.
Cover the backs of the large piece and glue down.
Draw small lines of glue down from the small flowers and add mini green jewels as stems.
Repeat with the taller flowers and larger green jewels.
You can either place lines of glue or dot each jewel with glue as you place it.
Do the largest flower with even larger jewels.
Add some small lines of mini green jewels randomly as grass.
Now flip to the other end and go all around the edges and camera hole with pearls.
Now it’s just a matter of filling everything in with more pearls.
Work from the outside into the middle.
Try to only do small sections at a time.
You can move the last few pearls around so everything fits nicely and there are no gaps.
Allow to dry and it’s done.
That’s it! Just let it dry properly overnight.
DONE!

The last few times I’ve posted about deco-ing my iPhone there have been a lot of requests for tutorials. I’ve done a lot of deco tutorials over the years but I’ve never been able to do a video because usually deco-ing the thing that I film with XD
This time however I was just doing a case so I filmed the whole thing on my phone. YAY!
The video is below but here are some tips and answers to questions I get quite a lot:
What glue are you using?
2 part 5 minute epoxy. You can buy it at any hardware store, this one is from Daiso.
How long does this take?
Depending on the complexity it usually only takes a few hours.
Where do you buy the parts?
Bergamot Charms are available through my Etsy store. I buy locally at junk stores, sometimes I buy from ebay, Full Moon Deco is great for parts and run by a super nice lady.
Where did you get the clear case?
Ebay.
How are you picking up the pearls/jewels?
I use either a cuticle stick with a tiny bit of water on the end for tiny jewels or reverse tweezers for regular ones.
How long does it last?
If you use epoxy it will last a very good while especially if you take care of it. I’ve had things (cameras mostly) which have lasted for years.
What if I make a mistake?
Don’t deco directly to an item if you are worried about making mistakes, put down a layer of clear contact first. You can easily remove contact if you don’t like the final design.
