Houndstooth is one of my favorite patterns so making nail art in it is a fairly logical next step XD The pattern itself is very basic if not a little time consuming to make. Your finish will really only depend on how steady your hand is and how thin your brush is, in this tutorial my brush is looking a bit ratty so the result is a little wobbly around the edges. That said when you’re more than 10cm away you really can’t tell haha!

Awhile ago I posted a photo of an awesome hair style on my Cuties blog. The style had a bunch of diamantes on the side and there was discussion in the comments about how to do it. Puregirlblue remembered that she had some with velcro on the back so I figured why not make some with pearls and some other things!
This is probably the best photo I got of the pearls, I wore them to the Illamasqua counter opening.
Not really a tutorial because it’s a very simple concept.
Take the scratchy side of some velcro…
Cut it up
And glue it to the back of whatever you want to attach to your hair.
I did some ribbon flowers, stars and pearls.
Everything worked really well except the pearls because I didn’t think about the weight while I was doing it. I used glass pearls because that’s what I had on hand but they are way too heavy to be held in with jut the velco so as a quick fix I ended up using some eyelash glue to keep them in my hair on the night and using make up remover to take them out after. Like Aurorahime suggested putting real/glass pearls on the little metal spirals to either lock them in or just use this technique with regular cheap plastic pearls, that works awesomely!
Just like SheFallsSoftly mentioned you really can do this with anything so next time your hair needs some extra bling this is something to think about 😀
I’ve been seeing these puffy accessories everywhere lately so I figured I would show you all how easy they are to make 😀 Swimmer and a couple of other brands have them as hair clips, brooches and all kinds of things.
This is how my version turned out:
What you need:
Coat hanger/wire
Fluffy yarn (I think the name of this one was flossy or something)
Glue
Diamantes/small bows/pearls/decorations
Pliers
Tape
Take apart the coat hanger…
And use the pliers to make the shapes you want. I did a star and a heart.
Use a piece of tape to hold the ends together…
Get some yarn and start wrapping it around…
Keep wrapping and keep wrapping and keep wrapping… and keep wrapping some more until they are really big and squishy like this:
Hot glue your decorations on in a completely random way and that’s it…
You can then add on a brooch pin or something on the back to attach it to yourself and that’s all there is to it ^_^
You can also make bows in the same style by knitting a square out of this yarn and scrunching the middle of it. Add a little ribbon to hold it in place and you’ve got a very cute accessory!
These pom pom hair ties have been popular for quite a while but (until Daiso recently opened) over here they are very pricey. I made some a while ago out of regular pompoms but when I managed to find some of the actual yarn used for $2 I figured why not make a whole heap more!
This is the original:
These are the ones I made:
The purple/pink/blue one was from Daiso and was $2.80 and the ball of yarn below which could make like 20 hair ties was $2.
What you need:
Pompom yarn
Scissors
Elastic
First thing first, cut 3 lengths of yarn with around 20 pompoms each and tie together at the end.
Now loosely plait them together in between the pompoms. Basically you want the pompoms themselves to be loose but the yarn between them to be bound together.
Something like this…
Continue until you reach the end and tie together so it doesn’t come undone.
Get your piece of elastic and tie in a loop. The size will depend on how big you want the finished product to be. You could also just use a regular hair tie here if you’ve got one handy.
Starting with one end of the yarn tie it in a knot to the elastic around where the join is.
Pull the yarn through the elastic like this…
The pull it up and through the loop it forms at the top. Almost as if you were tying a knot. Pull tight leaving one cluster of pompoms at the top.
This is what you should have…
Keep tying with the rest of the yarn making loops and leaving one cluster of pompoms on the outside each time. It’s kind of like you’re doing a blanket stitch like this.
When you run out of yarn it should look something like this:
Tie off all the random ends and you’re finished!
All finished 😀
It took me around 20min to make both of them and I think I like them more than the original! What do you guys think?

Striped nail art tutorials.
What you need:
base colour polish (light green), white nail polish, clear polish, thin long nail art brush.
First thing is to clean and prep your nails.
If you use a base coat apply this now.
Lay down a base coat of colour.
I used 2 coats to get a smooth finish.
Wait until the polish is completely dry.
This is the type of nail art brush you need.
It’s long, thin and flexible.
Clean your brush and dip it in white polish.
Starting from the furtherest side of the nail, gently drag the brush diagonally from one side of the nail to the other.
Repeat on either side until the whole thing is covered.
It’s easier to place the whole brush on the nail and gently drag the nail away to great perfect lines.
Add a clear top coat and you’re all done!
This style looks particularly nice with jewels or stickers added over the top.
