Mini Bow Hairstyle Instruction
I love bow style hair but sometimes the big ones can be a bit much!
Here’s a simple mini bow.
Grab a section of hair from the top of your head and brush it to one side.
This technique is all about making loops of hair with the elastic so you need a pretty stretchy one.
Mine can go over 4 times… so I wrapped it twice before starting the bow.
Pull the hair through again but this time only a few inches so it’s a loop.
Twist the elastic and pull the hair through again for another loop.
Taadaa you have bow loops.
Now flip them so they face the right way.
And pin them in place.
So one more time in case you missed it.
You should end up with something like this.
To hide the band use a flower or some kind of clip.
You can also split up the tail so it curls on both sides like ribbon tails.
Sweet and cure but not too over the top.
I hope this was a useful video, please check out the blog post linked in the description for more information and tutorials.
Thanks so much for watching.

Cute Pink Camera Lenshood Repaint

When I got my new camera I decided I wanted it to be as customised as possible. Other than deco-ing it I wanted to customise all of the other aspects as well including the straps, bag and any accessories. The first thing I did was paint the lens flower 😀

James get consistently frustrated by me calling it a lens flower because it’s such a girly way to say lens hood 😉 Now I just do it because I know it irritates him mwahahaha. LENS FLOWER!

VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-835_1315 copy

I used acrylic paint and nail polish to do it and these are the steps I took ^_^My lens flower:VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-532_1287 copyI painted it with several coats of white acrylic paint as a base.VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-536_1287 copy

It took 3 coats to make sure it would be completely opaque. Coat 1 was kind of patchy.

VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-537_1287 copy

But all I really needed was a decent base so the nail polish wouldn’t be lost in black so I didn’t bother making it perfect.

VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-543_1288 copy

Once it was dry I gave the whole thing a coat with some nude polish.

VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-550_1289 copy

I gathered all of the polish colours I wanted to use and decided on a design, this one was inspired by a Pucci print.

VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-614_1295 copy

Then I went colour by colour building swirls up from the bottom.

VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-618_1296 copy

It’s quite hard to see at this point because the pinks were all quite similar.

VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-619_1296 copyVioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-622_1296 copy

All of the base colours are done!

VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-623_1296 copy

Here’s one with upped contrast so you can see a bit better.

VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-625_1296 copy

I used a thin brush to paint gold and dark purple glitter around the bubbles to give them definition as well as the top and bottom.

VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-749_1307 copyVioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-830_1315 copy

To remove any bits that got a bit out of the lines I just wiped it away using a cotton bud and a tiny bit of polish remover.

VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-754_1307 copyVioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-758_1308 copy

All finished! Totally girly and very me 😀

VioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-841_1316 copyVioletLeBeaux-Pink-Lens-Hood-836_1316 copy

What do you think? Haha an improvement? The next thing on my list is making a nice camera strap to hold it all together 😀

Morning Make Up- Plum Take Two

A new segment I’m trying out where in I show my morning make up routine for various days and chat about what I’m doing that day. Not really a tutorial, more of a random girly chat while we get ready together in the bathroom 😉

Today’s style features another version of the plum look I’ve been wearing a lot lately, this one has a lot more white ^_^

Time for another random morning make up video in which I do my make up and we chat.
Today is another version of the plum I’ve been wearing a lot of.
This is usually how my morning make up starts off.
Primed and reasy to be awesome.
Yay tea and it’s magical properties.
So getting started, foundation routine first as usual.
I started with pink highlighter under my brow.
I’m so excited about this year, a lot of the things James and I have been working towards are finally happening.
The light purple shadow all over the lid.
This year hopefully we’ll finally be able to buy a house.
I added the plum to the crease and outer 1/3rd of the eye.
We’ve been trying for almost 4 years now so I’m excited.
Next I blended it all together using a fluffing brush.
We’re looking at CBD apartments at the moment, we can’t decide if we like the idea of city lifestyle or living far out and having more space.
I put a thick line of white pencil over my lash line.
It would be nice to have a proper craft room again and James wants a photography studio but I love living in the city so much.
Then added some more white to the middle section of the lid.
If we lived out in the middle of no where we’d have to buy a car again too.
Tea break.
Again I blended the white out with a fluffy brush.
I really love living in the city and having everything within walking distance. It’s great for being able to meet new people everyday too.
I added a fairly thin line of eyeliner to the lash line with a bit of a wing.
I actually really love our current apartment but the ones for sale in the building are a bit out of out price range.
Mascara and false lashes next.
In a perfect world we would probably move over to Docklands, the apartments there are really nice.
Much more expensive than the CBD though.
I topped it off with some Bourjois Rose Exclusif lipgloss which goes on clear then reacts to the PH of your lips to change into a unique colour. I love gimmicks and the colour is actually really nice.
All done.
And who knows, maybe this is the look I’ll be wearing when we finally settle on a house.
I hope this was a useful video, please check out the blog post linked in the description for more information and tutorials.
Thanks so much for watching.

Easy Phone Case Gift – Quick Craft

Another random present that I made over Christmas which might give you ideas on something you could make!

James’ Dad is one of the most practical men that I know, he only ever wants practical things for presents. There’s a family story that he once bought James’ Mum a fire extinguisher for Christmas… she was not particularly impressed XD

So this year he asked for a phone case… but we couldn’t just get him a regular one so I set about making him one with his business logo on it.

VioletLeBeauxgolf-gurus-phone-case629_1395 copy

Take 1 plain iphone case!

VioletLeBeauxgolf-gurus-phone-case626_1395 copy

Draw roughly what you want the design to look like on the piece of clear plastic that you cut from the case’s packaging. This is important so you get the spacing right.

VioletLeBeauxgolf-gurus-phone-case627_1395 copy

Draw the design on the case with a Sharpie or other permanent marker.

DONE! Give to  recipient and enjoy reaction 😀 Practical and personal all in one!

Superbowl Pigs In A Blanket Pizza Recipe! James Guest Post Food Friday

Doo doo doo doodoo doooooooo, doo doo doo doodoo DOOOOOOOOO!!! Don’t worry, Violet didn’t have a stroke, it’s me! JIMMY!!!! =)

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040576 copy

And that first sentence was my attempt at the start of the Superbowl song!!! I should probably mention that neither of us are very into sports. At all. I used to be really into skating, BMX, snowboarding, the kind of stuff that resulted in a LOT of homemade ramps and even more injuries, but that’s about the extent of my sports enthusiasm. The only two games I did use to watch when I lived in America (other than my schools games) were the Thanksgiving Day game and the Superbowl.

But the Superbowl isn’t so much just a game of football as it is an event and that’s why in two days an estimated 111 MILLION people will be watching it. It’s gonna be HUGE!!! And with almost any American sporting event, there will be food!!! FOOOOOD!!!!! Since it’s such a big game the food has to be equally impressive.

To get an idea of how impressive the food should be, football announcer John Madden brought back the popularity of the Turducken during the Thanksgiving Day game. For those of you who don’t know, the Turducken is a de-boned chicken, stuffed into a de-boned duck which is then placed inside a de-boned turkey and then cooked, sometimes stuffing or sausage meat is used to fill the cavities not taken up by poultry. Sounds delicious, I know. If you could find a way to get beef in there then it would be my idea of heaven, but that’s was just for the Thanksgiving game!

Sorry to any vegetarian readers, but I’m allergic to fruits and veg (seriously) so meat has become my best friend. I’m getting a little off topic. The Superbowl spread has to be awesome and that’s what I’m here to help you with today! This culinary creation is inspired by a dish from Japan where you can actually order it from Pizza Hut! I have no idea why this was never made on Iron Chef, but ladies and the two or three gentleman who read this blog, I give you…THE PIGS IN A BLANKET PIZZA!!!! *choir of angels*

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040576 copy

As you can see it’s a pizza, but the crust is made up of pigs in a blanket!!! Brilliant!!! I’m gonna guide you through making this, but I would like to start by saying that if I could have gone to shops and bought crescent dough for the pigs in a blanket, I would have. It tastes so much better, but it’s pretty hard to make and you can’t buy it in stores here. The reason I didn’t use puff pastry is because I takes about 30 minutes to bake and the pizza takes 15, so it would burn.

You will need:

  • Flour
  • Oregano
  • Salt (I use garlic salt because we love garlic)
  • Sugar
  • Dry yeast
  • Sausages
  • Pineapple
  • Ham
  • Basil
  • Tomato paste

Start by pulling a stupid football pose that you thought was a good idea but actually just looks like you’re trying to stop someone from murdering you.

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040506 copy

Then REALLY start by combining 3 cups flour, 1 tsp oregano, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp sugar and 3 tsp yeast. Yeast varies from type to type, so see how much you will need against how much flour you’re using and whether it needs to be dissolved in water first.

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040513 copy

Mix everything up and then make a well in the middle and add 1 and a half cups warm water. Mix that up until it it makes a rough sticky dough.

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040522 copy

Pull a stupid face because your hand looks like it’s mutating.

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040523 copy

Pop the dough onto a well floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes. I like the folding technique. Once it’s come together in a nice ball, pop it into a well greased bowl and cover it with cling wrap. This needs to sit in a warm area to rise, I fill my sink with about 4 inches of fairly warm water and put the bowl in that. Let it rise for 30-45 minutes until it’s doubled in size.

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040533 copy

Does it looks like this? If so, congrats, you didn’t kill the yeast!

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040537 copy

At this point you can work out how many sausages you’re going to need.

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040540 copy

Deflate the dough by dropping it onto a floury surface once again and then flatten it. At this point you need to work out how much dough is going to be your pizza base and how much is going to be for wrapping your sausages. I put two thirds to the dough and one third to the sausages. This gave me a medium crust and plenty for wrapping.

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040543 copy

Roll out your sausage dough into a square (or if you’re an idiot like me then a circle for some reason) and then cut the dough into triangles. This is much easier if your dough is a square…roll your sausages up in a triangle of dough. If you REALLY like your guests then at this point you could also wrap the sausage in bacon and add a little cheese. Mmmmm heart attack-y!

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040546 copy

Smooth your pizza dough to fit your pan and place the wrapped sausage around the outside. I used a little bit of water to help them stick.

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040551 copy

For my sauce I use tomato paste and a sprinkling of dry basil.

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040555 copy

This is going to be a Hawaiian creation, so I added ham and pineapple.

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040557 copy

Add some cheese and it’s almost done! Stick it in a preheated fan forced oven at around 170c (330f) for 15 minutes

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040560 copy

Done!!!

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040569 copy

Just in time for some stupid eating poses!!!

Super-Bowl-Sausage-Pizza-Recipe-1040574 copy

Seriously, it tastes awesome. I meant to brush on an egg wash over the sausage dough, but I was REALLY hungry at this point. Eat the pizza part then dip the pig in a blanket into some ranch/BBQ/tomato sauce, you’re gonna love it! Yummy! Now sit back and enjoy the game. GO PATRIOTS!!!!

How To Paint Checkered Nail Art Instruction
Checkerboard nails are on of my favorite designs.
they are quick, easy and very effective!
Paint a bright base coat and allow to dry.
It’s easiest to paint this with a long flexible nail brush.
Paint two evenly spaced stripes of black along the nail.
And make them into squares by painting stripes the other way.
I had room for 3 on my nails.
To create straight lines hold the brush still then move your nail under it.
This technique works especially well when using your non-dominant hand.
It helps to load the brush all the way up so the coat is even.
Make sure to lean both hands on something steady like a table.
Now begin filling in every second square with black.
Fill in the diagonal squares in the center row.
Don’t worry if the finish isn’t even, when we top coat later it will be nice and shiny.
And that’s about it really.
So again, stripe the nail to create squares to colour in.
And colour them in.
Looking good!
Now you need to give it all a top coat to make the surface even.
Much better!
