Short video on how I do big dolly eyed style make up in under 10 minutes. Simple and quick to do! This was done partly as a reader request tutorial and partly to document my different make up looks.

Today on Violet Vision Super quick Dolly Make up.
Apply your moisturiser.
Then foundation.
Next apply concealer.
Apply several coats of mascara.
Don’t forget the other eye too.
Clear up any mistakes
Apply a big set of false lashes.
Time for the shading.
Apply a thick line of eyeliner.
Make sure yo flick the ends.
Repeat on the other eye.
Use back eyeshadow to blend it out.
Line 1/3rd of the bottom lash line.
And blend it into the flicks.
Lighten the corners of your eyes and soften the edges of the back with white shadow.
Add some shimmer dust to catch the light in the corners and around the edges.
Blend it with a clean brush.
Add lip stain and gloss.
Brush out your hair.
Taadaa finished!

I mentioned last time that I wanted to try different colours… especially violet! E-CircleLens.netwere lovely enough to send me some 😀 I was so excited for them to arrive! This was the cute package that came!
Whenever you purchase they send a travel contact case, last time I got one shaped like a puppy and this time I got this one:
How cute is that? I think it’s very Anna Sui inspired 😀
These are a light violet colour with yellow flecks in around the center. They are 14mm diameter.
Because these ones are quite transparent I found they didn’t make a strong colour over the top of my green eyes but the effect was really pretty anyway. One lens in the left eye, nothing on the right:
Because I naturally have yellow around the pupil of my eye they really bring that out too 😀 With them both in:
Comfort-wise I thought they were really great, I’ve been wearing them quite a bit for the whole day and by the end of the day there’s no discomfort. Verdict- These ones are really good for a subtle look, they purple isn’t overpowering and it looks quite natural. Love them!
These ones are a really bright violet with a black outside ring. They are 14.5mm in diameter.
These ones are my favorites out of all the lenses I own now! They are absolutely HUGE! It’s funny because they are only 0.5mm bigger than the Marie pair but they look soooo much bigger because of the black ring. Lens on the right side, none on the left:
I’ve been wearing these ones pretty much non-stop since they arrived because they give such a cool effect. They are dark enough to cover the green in my eyes and because they are this dark I can wear more/darker eye make up without looking washed out. LOVE IT! They really do give a huge dolly style eye, perfect for hime style!
These were the lenses I was wearing the other day in the curly pigtail hair tutorial and there were lots of comments about them! Verdict: LOVE. Super comfortable, pretty, bright and the colour is awesome!
Mwahaha this is my growing lens collection… I think I’m addicted now!
Now the second part of this post! Quite a few of you have been asking questions about caring for your lenses and how to clean them etc. I’m by no means an expert on the subject but after researching and talking to the very helpful staff at E-CircleLens.netI wanted to try answer your questions… so I’ve made a super quick video about it. On anything more complicated than this I though I would suggest you talk to your doctor or optometrist 🙂 Before you do anything I suggest buying a decent sized bottle of lens solution so you can keep everything clean and hygienic. This is the lens solution I’m using in the video:

It’s no secret, I love cake. No I don’t think you guys get it… I looooooove cake. So much so that the first thing I thought when I was trying to think of a way to store my false eyelashes was cake… and you’ll see why in a minute 😀
If you’re anything like me you have a lot of lashes. Here in Aus they don’t come in the nice little trays, they come in stupid plastic packets which mean it’s really difficult to store and reuse them. My counter tends to look like this after a few days…
Very ugly, very messy and very unhygienic. So what to do? When I found this cheap craft storage box at a $2 store I had a great idea 😀
I decided to turn it into this:
Yep. It’s an eyelash cake.
The storage container looks like this when it’s filled up. Each compartment has it’s own lid so when you need one set they won’t all fall out and it’s transparent so you can see them all at once. It’s exactly the right size so your lashes don’t get crushed or out of shape.
So let’s get started! This is what you need for cakey lash storage:
-Paper clay. I picked up a kit from Singapore but I’ve seen this same kit available on Etsy as well. -Container -Cute ribbon -Icing bag with nozzles -Optional if your paper clay kit doesn’t come with white icing you can use acrylic modeling paste (read more here) -Small false flowers
So this is what came in my kit. It has lots of molds and a couple of colours of clay and a ready to go icing kit.
I wanted a strawberry for my cake so I made one with the mold like this:
Put clay in both sides of the mold.
Squish it together..
You get this:
Remove the extra and you’ve got a strawberry.
You can make pretty much anything you want by hand as well as it’s really easy to work with. I made some macarons, hearts, icecream tops and some of those swirly chocolate wafer stick things.
Also squish some of the yellow clay flat and cut out 8 fairly equal triangles like this. These are going to be the slices of cake on top so make the roughly the same size as the container sections.
I make a bunch of clay bits and pieces at a time because they need to be left to dry over night.
The next day!
Now that everything is nice and dry let’s get going! Turn your container upside down so the lid parts are on the bottom and coat the top sections with epoxy glue.
Glue the triangles you made on 😀
Now decide on the design you want on the top. I like to lay mine out first so I know that it will all fit!
Before I go ahead and glue it all, here is a mini tutorial inside a tutorial on making the wafer swirl things. After they’ve dried you can add the chocolate. I paint mine with brown nail polish 😀
Paint the swirl… fairly self explanatory! Let them dry really well before you add them to the cake!
Now back to the cake!!
Time to cover the edges, get your pretty ribbon and glue it around the edge. You should align it as close to the bottom lids as you can without obstructing the opening/closing. Don’t worry about having a large gap towards the top, we’re going to fill that with icing 😀
I decided to put flowers on the top of mine, glue whatever you decided to put there ^_^
Time for icing!
Fill your icing bag with whatever you’re using for the icing (please use the paper clay or acrylic modeling paste rather than silicon as silicon attracts a lot of dirt in the bathroom) and get any decorations you have for the top close at hand.
So if you’ve been following my Twitter you’ll be aware that I’ve been testing out Circle Lenses!
So what are circle lenses? Basically they are coloured contact lenses which make your eyes appear bigger, they are very very popular in Asia especially with Hime Gyaru models. I’ve been interested in trying them for like 2 years but never got around to it until now when E-CircleLensoffered to send me some 😀
You can’t imagine how excited I was when I came home from Melbourne to a package from E-CircleLens!
Inside the package were 3 different lenses, some pamphlets and instructions, 3 cases and a cute little doggie travel kit!
How cute is this? The little cases for the lenses have bows on them!
They came with cartoon instructions showing you the do’s and don’ts of putting them in and caring for the lenses.
This is the little doggie travel case! He’s found his way to my handbag now!
The doggie opens up and inside is… a mirror, tweezers, a bottle for contact solution and a case!
All of the lenses come packaged really well in styrofoam, when you take them out they are in little glass bottles like this:
It took a bit of work to get the aluminum lids off but that’s probably because I’m incredibly weak heehee!
These ones here are the Aryan Ring Circles.They have a diameter of 14mm which is huge and they last 1 year.
This is a photo of me trying to put them in for the first time. Considering how un-coordinated I am, it’s surprising I didn’t lose an eye! It was a lot easier to do than I was expecting, I think if I can do it anyone can!
So what kind of difference do they make? Here is me with one of the Aryan Ring ones in and one eye natural. Big difference right?
And when you add some make up, they look awesome!
These ones look really dark but still have a burst of natural colour through the middle.

The second set that they sent me are called Walkure Brown and they have a diameter of 14.5mm! These ones are my favorite because they are the absolute biggest! Here’s the comparison between my natural eye and the Walkure Brownup close:
These ones were slightly harder to apply because of the size but once they were in, they just look fantastic! The dark brown works really well with hime style as well which is great for me!
I was surprised how natural they looked on me as my eyes are actually green normally ^_^
From a distance they just look cute!
The third set I received was the Angel EX Greenwith a diameter of 14mm. I was excited about these ones because they were so natural looking and they really made the green in my eyes pop! It probably helped that I’m pretty sure I’ve seen them in Ageha as well 😉
It’s such a pity that these photos don’t seem to capture the real colour of these lenses, they are a really deep vibrant green in real life. I wore them to lunch the other day and got 3 compliments about my eyes, no one even guessed I was wearing lenses XD
They are darker than my natural eyes but the green really stands out!

So my review! Ok the quality of the packing was really good, the box arrived dented by a careless post office worker but the insides were still perfectly ok because of all of the packaging. The complimentary instructions they include are really easy to follow and well set out. I have never used lenses before and I managed to put them in very easily. I have to say that unlike some other resale companies I’ve dealt with, the staff at E-CircleLens were super helpful and really knowledgeable about their products. I couldn’t have been happier with the support I received. The actual lenses were really comfortable to wear and after I got the hang of actually putting them in I didn’t really notice that they were in during the day. On the first day that I wore the Angel Ex Green ones I actually forgot they were in, if James hadn’t reminded me I probably would have gone to bed with them in XD If you want your own sets, all of these lenses can be bought via E-CircleLensfor around US$40 and they last for 1 year if taken care of correctly.

So in conclusion, my first experience with Circle lenses has been really positive, I’m definitely going to keep wearing them and I want to get lots more different colours to try out 😀
Quite a while ago I was sent a bunch of 1000 hour individual eyelashes to test out:
To be honest I wasn’t really thrilled about the idea of individual lashes, it sounded like an awful lot of unnecessary effort to me. I mean who really wants to apply full eyelid’s worth lash by lash? Who has time for that either? It wasn’t until I did a bit of a rethink and took some inspiration from the lovely SuperKawaiiMama that I got some inspiration.
These lashes are perfect for a cute casual look. You don’t actually need to put lashes over the whole eye to get an adorable effect, these are perfect for a cat-flick at the side! Ok so here is how to do it ^_^ These are my lashes to start with, I’ve applied some mascara and given them a little bit of a curl.

This is the packet they come it, it’s a step up from 90% of other lashes available in Australia because the little tray they come in actually has a lid. I hate when you get lashes and they just come in the tray, it makes them useless for storage! This however is good and you get a lot of them in a pack so they last a while especially if you reuse them.
So to begin with get one of the little bunches.
And some scissors.
And cut the tip of the bunch on an angle. You need to do 2 of these (one for each eye so cut them in opposite directions). This is the part that will gradiat to the longest lashes on the ends. If you don’t have one of these it will look like you’ve just one a random flick on the edge.
This is what they should look like.
Now grab your lash glue. I would not recommend this brand unless you are allergic to others like me.
Add a tiny bit of glue to the base of the bunch. Depending on the glue you’re using you will probably need to wait for it to get tacky before applying.
Ok now apply it to you lash line, you should apply it a couple of mm before the end of your lashes. Once you apply the bunch, give it a little pinch to make sure it’s in line with your natural lashes.
Here is a photo of it applied to my lashes, you can barely see it because the shape blends into the length of my natural lashes. In the next photo I’ve highlighted where it it.
This is where it is placed, if you compare the below and above photos you’ll be able to see exactly what I mean and the angle of the cut.
This is how it looks when my eyes are open, it’s much easier to see here but you can still see how it blends.
And here it’s highlighted…
Ok! Now you want to get 2 more bunches per eye. These ones should be full sized. Do them one at a time so you have lots of control over the placement. Add the glue!
And this time we’re going to place this bunch next to the one we just did on the outside side (closer to the corner of the eye). You should make sure that the last one sits on the very edge of your lash line. By the time you’re finished you should have 3 bunches on each eye (2 full ones and 1 angled one).
Once you’ve placed them if you want you can add another coat of mascara to make all the lashes the same thickness or even curl them again. One other tip I have is that if you find they are sticking up at a different angle than your natural lashes, give them a coat of mascara and pinch them together with your natural lashes gently. The mascara will act like a light glue!
So this is what you should end up with:

So there you go! This look is great as an everyday look because it’s not too heavy but the flick at the end is super cute. Now as for a review of the actual lashes I found them to be really good. I was really surprised at how durable they were, I’ve used the same 6 for this look several times. The best thing that I found was that they were comfortable enough to sleep in… probably not something I need to worry about every day but great when you’re on a 7hr plane trip! I was worried that because they weren’t held on by much glue that they would be hard to keep on but I haven’t lost one so far. You can get them from Priceline, Kmart and other beauty supply stores for around AU$7.95 which is an average price for lashes here in Aus. I really like them and I’ll be buying them again… though with this many in a tray I probably won’t need to for a long time hahaha! Have you ever tried the 1000 hour individual eyelashes?

-Lip Gloss- Prestige Vinylwear High ShineJust before the Nuffnang Awards I was sent a box of EcoToolsmake up brushes to test out so here is my review…As someone who is a beginner in make up techniques I am always looking for the simplest, easiest ways to do things. Up until I got this set I was using those little foam applicators that came with my eye shadow pots. They always break and don’t last very long and I found that quite frustrating, I also didn’t like the fact that it was quite hard to get a precise line.
So when EcoTools send me this package I was quite excited to be able to try out some brushes! In this pack there are 5 different brushes and a matching bamboo container, you can also buy the brushes individually and the prices range from AU$4.95 – $22.95 (available from Priceline Kmart & Price Attack) which as I understand it is fairly run of the mill for make up brushes of this level. The brushes in my pack are the following:
-Blush applicator
-Angled Eyeliner brush
-Eyebrow brush
-Concealer Brush
-Eyeshadow brush
I tested them all out pretty well as you can see in the video! I gave them a brief play with before we went to Singapore but the big test was really my make up for the Nuffnang Awards and you can see by looking back at the photos, they passed with flying colours ^_^
The thing with EcoTools is that it’s made from all cruelty-free sustainable materials (hence the bamboo holder). So you can feel like you’re doing your bit for the environment while you’re doing your make up XD When I read the back and discovered that the bristles were synthetic I was a bit apprehensive about whether they would be scratchy but I was pleasantly surprised, it’s so soft it’s kind of like rubbing suede on your face! Also because they are made of bamboo and aluminum they weight practically nothing. That’s great if you’re traveling so you can pack in more copies of Japanese magazines!
My favorite brush is the angled eyeliner one. I don’t use eyeliner often but I’ve found it’s really useful use for getting into to all those annoying parts like the corner of my eyes with eyeshadow! Genius!
I thought the box thingy was quite a handy addition to the pack because I would have no idea how to store something like this. Knowing my track record with my bathroom mess they would probably just end up laying on the counter somewhere ^_^ But now I have the box thingy I’ll keep all my pointy make up items like mascara, lash curler etc in there too!
So final thoughts? Well I’ve thrown out all the old foam applicators and as I mention in the video, I really do like having a set of brushes. I think it’s enough to say I’m using them every day now! I think it will enable me to be more adventurous with make up ideas in future ^_^ I would give these 8/10 over all, they were quite easy to use, the quality and price were good and the presentation was quite cute. I bet they’ll look even better after I deco them 😉
