Christmas Holiday!

Currently I’m waiting on the couch while James cooks an epic dinner for us so I just wanted to put up a quick note saying I hope you’re all having a lovely day whether you celebrate Christmas or not.

I don’t celebrate it so we decided to go to the Zoo today and it was awesome! Best day I’ve had in ages 😀 I took a huge number of photos so there will be a post about that all soon but here’s a teaser shot ^_^

I hope you all had as much fun as me and I hope you all have a lovely night too!

Christmas at the Zoo

Melbourne Snapshots!

It’s been a while since I’ve done snapshots so there are lots this time!

Earlier this week we had a crazy wet day, lots of places here in Aus have flooded and people have been losing their houses to the water *_* It hadn’t been raining very much where we live until yesterday when there was a sudden down pour, of course I had picked that day for an epic shopping trip -_-‘

This river I’m next to is actually where the tram was supposed to be… the track was under like 3-4 inches of water!

Snapshots!

It looks like a boat!

Snapshots!

I’ve had a lot of business meetings with people this week too, very lucky that some of them aren’t as boring as others… some of them involve gigantic pink guava drinks 😀

Snapshots!

Having a business lunch with Marie from One Day in Paradise at the Guava Bean. Omg those drinks were soo good!

Snapshots!

We saw this beautiful car the other day in a bridal precession. The poor bride looked like she was dying from the heat though!

Snapshots!

The shops here are fully decked out in Christmas stuff now. This is the first time I’ve been to see “Christmas windows”. The theme this year was The Nutcracker, while they were kind of pretty..

Snapshots!

The dolls faces kind of creep me out…

Snapshots!

Oh this is my favorite busker! He sings kind of Japanese blues with a slide guitar and he’s really good, I want to buy one of his cds when I have the money!

Snapshots!

I’ve actually been able t get out more to do some holiday shopping lately. I haven’t decided what t pu on my Christmas list but I’m thinking new clothes because I’m so sick of my wardrobe.

I almost bought this cute bowler hat, yay for hats in summer!

Snapshots!

James of course just wants to look at cameras when we go out XD

Snapshots!

It seemed to go from Winter to Spring to Summer over the course of like a week, all of the trees are now completely green and so pretty!

Snapshots!

All of the streets look like this now:

Snapshots!

Architecture time!

Snapshots!

Snapshots!

Snapshots!

Snapshots!

I saw this tiny little sparrow having a bath in the dirt, so cute! ^_^

Snapshots!

I also saw this doggie pillow that I really want to make in a show window display:

Snapshots!

I managed to find these cute tights on sale from Halloween too XD

Snapshots!

James was the photographer for the Rock and Roll Ultimate Jam Sessions so he spent the day playing with classic cars.

Snapshots!

Of course with Super Kawaii Mama there passers by wanted photos too XD

Snapshots!

The inside of the theatre was beautiful..

Snapshots!

Snapshots!

I got to meet up with Nessbow too who is so crazily stylish. Of course I completely forgot about photos because we were having too much fun XD I only got this one of her coming across the road! She brought James and I Halloween candy, so nice!

Snapshots!

We spent that day getting supplies for making flower hair clips 😀

Snapshots!

I had to post these funny drinks we found the other day, the pink one is supposed to make you more beautiful because it contains collagen and the green has chlorophyl XD Sounds so wrong but tastes so good!

Snapshots!

We took James to Costco for the first time too this week! He was so excited because we really don’t have anything like Costco here in Aus XD

Snapshots!

Most exciting part for me… seeing a wall of Buenos! Hahahaha!

Snapshots!

Ok I lied… the most exciting part was the yummy berry sundae at the end!

Snapshots!

James got himself a hotdog and we all spent about 20min laughing at the diy onion dispener thing >_< Again sounds so wrong but tastes so good…

Snapshots!

The result:

Snapshots!

We did *so* much shopping that day, mostly groceries that we really needed but also spending some early Christmas money on clothes and house hold things.

Snapshots!

Between Celeste, Kev, James and I our bags took up more chairs than we did at lunch XD

Snapshots!

At lunch we came across who shall now be known as “Passive Agressive Santa”. He came up to us when we were eating lunch and said hello, we said hello back and continued eating as none of us are of Santa appropriate age anymore XD

He then stated loudly “I hope you’re not ignoring Santa! People that ignore Santa don’t get any presents!”. So we played along and took a photo with him, it was very awkward and his beard was very scratchy!

Snapshots!

I photobombed Kev and Celeste! Santa also questioned James’ photography skills and made a couple of other creepy comments >_<

Snapshots!

James was less serious! When we had finished our meal and paid our bill he came walking after us saying “You’re not running away from Santa are you?! You’ll get no presents”. Thus Passive Aggressive Santa was born and quoted for the rest of the day.

Snapshots!

On the way out we saw a less Passive Aggressive Santa… though someone seems to have applied lipstick to this one and he’s wearing a skirt. So he was dubbed Cross Dressing Santa. I find him a lot less disturbing than regular Santa XD

Snapshots!

Later that day I also found something that might make me want to clean the house more often… leopard print mop!

Snapshots!

And lastly I will leave you with this absolutely terrible costume that James spotted in a junk store XD So wrong!

Snapshots!

What have you all been up to?

Outfit Of The Day- My New Pink Gradient Hair

Today’s post is quick because I’ve been taking photos for new hair tutorials all day and I am so sleepy now!

I just wanted to show off my new hair cut and colour XD I’ve been thinking of a new style for a while now, my hair had gotten so long and I really needed to trim the ends. I haven’t had layers since I was about 14 so I decided to do that. I also decided it was time for a colour change so I gave myself a pink/copper gradient rather than the dark one I had previously.

This is the dodgy phone pic after I did it all and styled with hot rollers^_^

My new hair

This one shows off the colours much better and was after pin curling for a night…

My new hair

The first day I wore it out:

My new hair

I have to say I absolutely LOVE it. Couldn’t be happier with the result and I think it’s really me! I didn’t lose much length but it’s made it so much more manageable and healthy.

My new hair

I think the cut is so much more versatile now and I’ve already been able to try a lot of new styles to wear so I’m very happy ^_^ It also means I’ve been able to wear curls all day just from pin curling over night so that is a massive improvement too. Also it’s majorly bouncy so I feel like I’m in a Pantine commercial every where I go now XD

The back:

My new hair

And lastly, here is a bonus pic of me having myself a Farrah Fawcett moment in front of a display fan while we were out shopping XD

My new hair

So many of my friends are having total hair make overs at the moment, it’s really exciting! What are you all planning to do with your hair next?

The Australian Blogger Listing Registry!

I’ve been a little bit distracted lately! Lots of really important things are going on at the moment which involve lots of change and hard work… but hey when is that not the case right? XD

One of the projects I’ve been working on I’m happy to announce is now officially online!

It’s called The Registry and it is a categorical listing of Australian blogs. It’s not very big yet, I’ve only got a couple of hundred blogs on there so far but it felt like it was time to launch so here it is! Go take a look, you could spend hours going through all of the really awesome blogs there and if you have an Australian blog please do submit it!

The Registry!

Secondly I couldn’t leave you without any pictures so please enjoy the photos from this year’s Nuffnang Christmas party!

Here are a couple of my favorites from the night, you can see the rest in the side show at the bottom ^_^

The party’s theme was “Blue Hawaii” so everyone dressed to match! This was the most Hawaii-ish outfit I could think of with my limited wardrobe XD

Nuffnang Christmas Party 2010

Celeste and I made everyone their own little flower hair clippies and cookies with hibiscuses piped on… except they kind of melted in the car on the way so they looked a bit psychedelic XD

James spent ages blowing up this palm tree! He was so light headed after that! I have some delightfully inappropriate photos of him posing with the palm tree but I think I’ll leave those off the internet to protect modesty 😛

Nuffnang Christmas Party 2010

I can’t remember what everyone was laughing at… so just pretend I said something hilarious and go with it 😀

Nuffnang Christmas Party 2010

Of course it was a blogger event so there was MUCH cam-whoring around 😀

Nuffnang Christmas Party 2010

The Honey Bar even made us all our own Blue Hawaii drinks, they were so pretty!

Nuffnang Christmas Party 2010

I was so glad to catch up with, meet and say goodbye to that many Melbourne bloggers. It was a fantastic night out all around, I think you can tell from the photos how good of a time we had ^_^ I really think that Melbourne bloggers are close like a family and while every once and a while we have squabbles over silly things (what family doesn’t right??) we still all just love getting together and hanging out! I really hope that we can get together again before next Christmas!

Out of interest do you all prefer me to post each photo and add captions or just a few with a slide show? I always worry that my captions are a bit lame >_<

Hope you’re all having a great night/day!

Illamasqua Myer Melbourne Counter Opening :D

Last weekend I was lucky enough to get to go to the launch of Illamasqua’s Myer counter here in Melbourne. It was so much fun! I went with all of the MBBE girls and it was like a gigantic playground 😀

All of us had a lot of fun playing around with the awesome hand painted mannequins on their runway!

MBBE Illamasqua

Having heard so many good things from my overseas friends about the brand I was super keen to try everything out, especially the foundation. I have a really tough time trying to match my skin because it’s so pale. Everything either looks too dark or too orange :S Having heard a lot about how awesome the range of foundations were I was first in line to test it out with the lovely make up artists!

MBBE Illamasqua

Very excitingly they actually had a shade of the Rich Liquid foundation that did match me 😀 😀 😀

MBBE Illamasqua

It made my skin flawless! After testing how long it lasted for the rest of the day and night I was so pleased that I went back to buy a bottle last Friday! I’ll do a review soon with some proper before/after pictures so you can see the effect.

MBBE Illamasqua

Everything there was set up really well, the staff were super friendly without being pushy (which as you all know I love!) I’ve been back twice since then and they were all just as lovely.

Looking through the shelves there were so many products that really appealed to me. Lots of bright things and lots of encouragement to experiment with different looks. Lots of colours and styles that you wouldn’t find in department stores normally. The tag line for the brand is “Make up for your alter ego” which I really like. I love that they embrace the more out there styles.

MBBE Illamasqua

James took so many photos that day that I’ve put them all in a side show to make it easier ^_^ You really need to see the awesome job the make up artists did on the girls! So much eye candy 😀

Very fun day and I just know I’m going to be going back soon haha! Big thank you to the lovely Christabel for organising the day for us!

Have you guys ever tried Illamasqua before?

Bobbi Brown Myer Melbourne Counter Opening and Palette Reviews

Until MBBE I was a Bobbi Brown virgin… is that embarrassing? According to my friends it is XD BB is a luxury brand here and it’s always been out of my price range so you can imagine how excited I was to have the opportunity to try the products out!

Celeste and I were invited to take a tour of the new Bobbi Brown counter opening in Myer and it was very eye opening!

Bobbi Brown Counter Opening/Review

So many pretties and shiny things to eat up my bank account!

Bobbi Brown Counter Opening/Review

They had framed photos of her first notebook where she swatched the lipsticks that lead Bobbi to start her very first collection…

Bobbi Brown Counter Opening/Review

I was very pleased to see lots and lots of their skin care line. I’ve been using the eye cream recently and I really like it!

Holiday palettes=very pretty!

Bobbi Brown Counter Opening/Review

Our lovely hostess Alexis who was absolutely packed full of great information about the products, the brand and also Bobbi herself. It was very interesting to learn about the philosophy and woman behind the brand. It’s all about natural beauty and while that may not be my personal style I have total respect for women that can pull it off!

Bobbi Brown Counter Opening/Review

We were lucky enough to receive awesome gift bags too which I was super excited about!

Now what everyone’s waiting for… palette review!

Bobbi’s Holiday Glamour Set

Bobbi Brown Counter Opening/Review

This set is basically an all in one travel kit. It comes in a seriously cute little zip up bag which is really good quality. I know that the bag will still be with me even after the make up is used up so very happy with that. If you can find one in store, touch the insides because it feels awesomely silky  😀

Bobbi Brown Counter Opening/Review

On the left side it’s filled with 3 brushes (blush, lip and shadow) and a mascara. The mascara is quite lovely, the formula is nice and smooth and it’s dark. It doesn’t give an insane amount of volume or length so I think it would be best used when adding false lashes or going for a pretty natural look. Unfortunately it brought up one of my allergies so no natural look for me >_<

Bobbi Brown Counter Opening/Review

The brushes were really lovely, nice and very soft. Sturdy and no bristle loss at all while I used them.

The palette has 4 shadows, 2 lip glosses, 2 lip colour and 1 blush.

Names of the colours:

Bobbi Brown Counter Opening/Review

The eye colours are definitely for a more natural look than I’m used but the shimmery one on the top right really gives them a boost.

Bobbi Brown Counter Opening/Review

The quality of the shadows were really nice, which is really what you would expect considering the set costs AU$240. I think the shades really don’t suit my skin which is unfortunate 🙁

Bobbi Brown Counter Opening/Review

The colours were very long wearing and lasted from morning until night with no touch ups.

Bobbi Brown Counter Opening/Review

I enjoyed the lip colours a lot, especially “pink bouquet” and “ruby”. They both went on like a dream 😀

VERDICT: Lovely bag, lovely brushes, while the colours of the palette didn’t suit me I think on the right skin tones they would be quite lovely too. The price is the big falling point for me as I would personally never be able to afford $240 on a Christmas gift, it’s not far off being  a week’s rent! That said, you are really paying for quality and there is a huge amount in the pack when you think about the value of the brushes, bag and mascara too…. so if I had the kind of budget that would allow it, I probably would splurge on this if the colours suited me.

Day to Night Cool Eye Palette

Bobbie Brown Reviews

According to the marketing material, this one is aimed at “the busiest woman on your list”… that sure sounds like me!!

This palette was much more my colours than the previous one, pinks sparkly greys and white. Looks really nice on and the brush was lovely. The one thing that I noticed with most of the shadows that I’ve played with from BB was that they are very light and fluffy. You don’t have to dig to get colour at all which is awesome but you do tend to end up with a bit of a mess at the end XD

VERDICT: Really loved this one. Priced at AU$99, again it’s most definitely a luxury brand but should someone slip this into my Christmas stocking this year I certainly wouldn’t complain ahahaha!

Bobbi’s Beauty Rules

Bobbie Brown Reviews

This palette is an accompaniment for the book of the same name. The book is aimed at teenagers using make up for the first time and basically about finding yourself and your style.

The shape and construction of the palette is very clever, it opens like a book, has a magnent closure and an eyeliner which slots into the spine. That said it doesn’t come with a brush or an applicator which I think is an oversight as most teenagers just starting out with make up probably wouldn’t have their own or maybe wouldn’t have the skills to apply with fingers etc.

The lip colours at the top are all very squishy glosses which are quite pretty colours even if they don’t suit me personally. I really liked the blushes and the formula was very easy to use, very difficult to use too much so probably good for teens too XD

Again the shadows were very nice and fluffy. I *loved* the light purple here too, very shimmery and pretty.

Bobbie Brown Reviews

VERDICT: At AU$115 I would have needed to save a a long time when I was a kid to afford one of these (I only earned $40 per week at my job during highschool) but I imagine if you had really awesome parents this would have made a good starter kit as a birthday or Christmas present!

So far of all of the Bobbi Brown products my favorites are still the gel eyeliner and eye cream but I’m going to save those reviews for another day! Overall I’m very pleased with quality of products and while I can’t afford them personally I would have no hesitation on recommending them to someone with a higher budget ^_^

This afternoon I’m going to get the 10 Step make up consultation so I’ll let you all know how it goes!
