This was my outfit for dinner the other night.
I hadn’t tried doing the bow hair style for a while but it works muuuch better now my hair has grown a bit. My bow is giant!
Outfit details: Skirt- Hand made Top- $2 pink tank top from an opshop Cardigan- Free from my mum Jewelery- Random stuff from Diva/Annie K Stocking- Myer Shoes- Modified from Payless or somewhere
I think that my favorite thing about this outfit is that it’s cute but still really casual. I actually didn’t feel over dressed for once at dinner but still got compliments!
Also thank you all for your lovely comments on my/James’ Nuffnang entries, comments like that make me really love blogging <3

Evening everyone! Nuffnang is having another competition to win tickets to the Regional Blog Awards.
For those who haven’t heard of the competition it’s basically to show how fun Pringles are and you have to use the word “Krrunch” in place of the word “fun”.
Anyway this is my entry, I hope you enjoy it!
Today has been a very boring day π
There is absolutely nothing to do. It’s my day off so there’s not even any work to keep me occupied.
There is nothing going on online either *_* No new emails, slow Twitter day and no comments to reply to!
Luckily my savior arrives! James is home and behold he’s brought lots of yummy Pringles π
Yaaaay! Maybe today won’t be so boring after all! Maybe it will be a Krrunch day!
After just one chip something amazing starts to happen….
I am transformed from plain old boring Violet to……………..
SUPER AMAZING KRRUNCH PRINCESS GIRL VIOLET! Gone are the boring pajamas and pig tails, replaced with a hime style ensemble! I’m ready to rid the world of bad style every where, look out people with bad fashion sense, IT’S KRRUNCH TIME!
Hmm now that you mention it, this outfit looks a little bit plain doesn’t it? I wonder how I could jazz it up a bit?
Hmm maybe Pringles will come to my rescue again!
Now what do I need? I’ll separate the cardboard from the coloured front and go from there.
Now I can gather up some other craft supplies life felt, glue and the staple of a Princess’ closet: lace!
I’ve got lots of ideas what to do but I’m going to start with 3 to begin with. Here is what I’m going to start with…
I cut a bigger circle out of the Pringles box to make the base of idea #1 and taped them together. I added some glue to make sure it would stick and left to dry.
Idea #2 sees me cut a small tube cover the outside with some squishy batting.
Now time to decorate idea #2, I got some nice ribbon and started wrapping it around the tube.
Here’s what it looked like when that stage was finished…Then I covered Idea #2 in pink felt to match my dress!
I added some pretty decorations to cover all the yucky edges and left it to dry again. Can you guess what it is yet?
While idea #1 and #2 are drying let’s get started on making some decorations for them! Remember when I stripped off the wrapping from the Pringles can? Well I’m going to make some roses with it. First cut it into strips varying in width depending on how big you want the finished rose to be. Then fold them in half so the red is on the outside.
Start at the end and fold it backwards on an angle. This is actually how you make ribbon roses but it works the same with paper.
Start curling it around. Fold the long edge backwards again and keep rolling, continue doing this over and over again.
It’s starting to look like a rose! Keep going until you reach the end of the paper and glue the end out of the way.
Taadaa!
Repeat and make a bunch of them to decorate everything with π
Did you guess what Idea #1 was? It’s a mini top hat! Now add some roses and ribbons to make it even prettier.
And Idea #2? It’s a bangle! Add some roses to that too, everything looks better with roses!
Now those ones are finished, time to move on to Idea #3! I cut a Pringles can to this shape:
Next I glued the lids on both sides and covered it in felt and lace. I added a ribbon handle and used one of the roses I made as the closing mechanism.
So Pringles inspired me to make all of these adorable pieces!
Now to model them all! Cute right? Not bad for a couple of Pringles cans and lace!
Thanks Pringles, you sure made my day Krrunch in the end ^_^
This outfit looks pretty good now? I am ready for a night out on the town! (Preferably in Singapore *hint hint*)And a close up to end it all nicely ^_^ SUPER AMAZING KRRUNCH PRINCESS GIRL VIOLET TRIUMPHS AGAINST A PLAIN BORING OUTFIT!What do you guys think, am I in with a chance? It’s Krrunch time, get playful! Cross my fingers that Nuffnang will like it too ^_^
by VioletLeBeaux | Sep 21, 2009 | Beauty, Hair, Hair-Tutorials, Hime Gyaru, Tutorial
Well after doing it every day for the last year or so I’ve developed some short cuts and easier ways of doing things. So I decided to made a revised tutorial and include the information about hot rollers in the bottom. The best part about this version is that there is very little teasing involved so very little damage π
We are going to end up with this: Now the secret to being able to do this style of hair with minimum teasing/damage is having something to stick in the middle to hold everything up. I borrowed this idea from Super Kawaii Mama’s video on 1960’s beehives. You need something to hold the center shape and a ratty old hair extension.
I use an old bandanna folded and then rolled up, you could use whatever you want as long as it gives the same basic shape. This gives a great amount of pouf and is sturdy. You can really use anything that will hold the shape. Now find an old hair extension you’re never going to use again and tease it until it’s solid and matted, this helps it keep it’s shape.
Roll it around the bandanna.
Secure the ends with some bobby pins. Pinch the ends in and secure with more bobby pins until you can’t see the bandanna anymore. Finished! Now you can start trying it out with your hair!
First separate the front section of hair which will become the bump.
This is the front section: Clip it to the side for now and keep it out of the way. Now place the hair piece on to of your head just behind the section you clipped. Secure it with some pins, I usually use one on each side then one for the front and one for the back. Don’t forget to put one in the front of you’ll find your bump gradually sliding backwards during the day.
Unclip the section of hair and divide it into 3, with a larger portion in the middle. Brush the middle section upwards and give it a good dose of hair spray. If you want to make it easier to manage you can tease (back comb) near th e roots but it’s not completely necessary. Pull it backwards and pin it behind the hair piece. Now do the same with each side. Brush it, spray it, pin it and spray it again! This is how the back looks:
All finished! Now it’s time to curl the rest of the hair. You will need your hot rollers, I have a set from Vidal Sassoon and they are awesome. Make sure to heat them up for the recommended time and always follow the instructions. I use mine on the hottest setting because I have very hard to curl hair.
You are also going to need the little clippy things to keep them in. I prefer the plastic ones to the metal “U” shape ones because they are quicker and easier to use. If you have hard to curl hair like me then you will need something like Tresemme Curl Activator spray. Some people use curling water but I have no idea where to get that from. Anyway give your hair a spray all over with the curl activator.
Brush out the rest of your hair, be very careful to hold where the pins are so you don’t ruin all the hard work you just did!
After you have heated the rollers get one ready to use. Don’t touch the hot part! The first this we want to do is get rid of all of the pinned ends so we can’t disturb the top bump It doesn’t really matter how you roll this part because it’s going to be hidden by a bow at the end. I’ll show you exactly how to roll them properly in a second. Clip it out of the way! Ok! Now let’s section a piece to curl. I like to start with the piece on the side and in front of my ears because I want these to be the curliest so I leave them in for the longest. Grab your section and brush it. Spray it! Brush through again to smooth it. Now grab your roller and twist the hair around it at the bottom. As you roll up catch the end of the hair in and keep rolling so it holds. To get this perfect you’ll have to experiment with your hair, for example if I roll these underhand the curls won’t hold but if I roll them overhand they curl nicely. It’s all about experimenting to find what works for your hair type! Clip the roller into place and you’re done.
Here is a video of how to roll them:
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eqWCai9gcs]
Β
Do the other side too.
Now start sectioning the back and rolling them up too. Start at the top and work down. Fit in as many as you can, the small the sections of hair you roll the better they will take the curl. This is how mine looks when it’s all done π Give it all a good final spray. If you’re going to try hime style hair, make friends with your hair spray! Now it’s just a matter of waiting! Go have breakfast or do your make up. Wait at least 20min until all of the rollers are completely cool to the touch! I went and replied to some of your wonderful comments about the new layout π Hi internet people! Ok time’s up! You should take them out front first and then from bottom to top at the back. When you pull them out they will look kind of funky. Curl them around your finger to point them in the right direction. Hurrah a pretty curl! Now spray it in place!
Here is a video of how I take them out: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_ha4pbmbvs] Now do it with the rest of them.
And you end up with this! If you don’t like how some of the curls are sitting just gently separate them with your fingers. Fix up your fringe and add some accessories. All finished π And the back: The side: The end!
On another note, does anyone know how to stop blogger from compressing photos when I upload them? My photos are very good quality but when they are uploaded they get pixely and washed out π I’m seriously considering just getting my own domain bleh.
I hope you all enjoyed the hime hair tutorial and if you have any questions just pop them in the comments and I’ll try my best to answer π

If you’re interested in them, you probably know how expensive Hime Gyaru styles can be.
Dresses at Jesus Diamante go on average for $700 and then there are shoes, accessories, hair pieces, make up supplies and all the rest that goes into such a detailed look. A lot of being a Princess is in the details and details can be expensive!
But I am a firm believer that people should be in control of their own budgets and if you want something bad enough you’ll make it happen. I know that it can be tempting but I am not the kind of girl who will spend her rent budget on a pretty dress! That’s why when I want something before I’ll buy it, I will toss up whether it’s worth making it. I’m not saying I don’t love brand to death but I love my $2 store as well π
So the other week James and I took a trip to Lincraft, our local craft supplies/fabric store for supplies to make some new accessories. James found some 3D glasses that some kid had left behind… stylish no?
He looks like such a ladies man holding all of my craft supplies XD
In the same complex as Lincraft is my faaaavorite burger place “Big Chief Burgers”. Oh they are the most delicious thing you would ever wrap your mouth around.
James once told me that if he could he’d marry that burger XD They make a cute couple! I’d be ok with that as long as I could get free burgers!
In case you were ever wondering what Hime Gyaru’s eat, the answer is gigantic burgers which are pretty much as big as their hair… and a side of chips with secret country sauce. I bet you thought we only eat delicate cakes with tea… ok I admit it, I had a cup of tea just out of shot of this photo π
And for desert? The best cheese cake in the universe: cookies and cream! Man I’m getting so hungry just thinking about this again!
So after all of that delicious food I got down to doing some crafting. I’m quite a messy crafter, this is what my table looks like…
And in case you’re interested here are some of the things that made it out of the mess of pearls:
A ring with blue paper flowers, pearls and purple beads. The flowers have little dew drops on it.
Pink paper flowers on a barrette clip thingy. Looks super cute with Kitty rolls.
I couldn’t decide whether to put this on a brooch clip or a hair clip. I think I might just make 2 and have both!
I love this little ring. Actually I just love jewelery with dangly things π
Double felt hair bow with a string of pearls.
Lace and pearl felt iPhone pouch . I wanted something cute for Ruri to sit in, the little pocket in my bag is too hard to get to.
Red felt iPhone case for Ruri. The heart on this is actually a flap to give it extra security.
Pearl bracelet with dangles!
My favorite of the things I made that day was this pearl watch π I got the watch face at Lincraft ages ago so I just added the pearls and flowers I bought that day with a couple of bows and tadaa! I also made another pearl necklace that day but I was wearing it while I took these photos so I forgot about it!
Not bad for an afternoon though right?
I’m sure you’re all sick of seeing all my silly craft things by now though so I’m going to write a proper guide to Hime on a budget and leave it at that for now ^_^
Have a good afternoon and good luck with your hime gyaru crafting!

So outfit post! This outfit was from last week before I ruined my hair.
How are you all doing? I’m very excited today, I can’t tell you why yet but it’s exciting! As soon as I sort out the details I’ll let you all know π
Β
Skirt- Angelic Pretty Everything else- Random off brand junk. I do looove those shoes.
Mostly what I wanted to show you with this outfit is the hair, this is a variation of one of the tutorials that I was requested to do. As soon as I fix up my hair colour I’ll be able to post it!
It works better with hair a bit shorter than mine but it’s a great time saver as it takes around 5 minutes to do! Nice and easy for a casual outfit!
by VioletLeBeaux | Aug 31, 2009 | Craft, Hime Gyaru, Storage/Utility-Tutorials, Tutorial
Today I’ve got a quick and easy tutorial for you, a hime gyaru shopping bag.
Well even with the best laid intentions I didn’t have a particularly awesome weekend. In fact I would go so far as to say it sucked. I’m not going to get in to everything here but the one thing I will mention is my horrible hair dye mishap. I had been planning to give you all 2 hair tutorials this week but after the hair incident (which left me a strange ashy blonde with completely different coloured roots) you’ll have to wait for my hair to rest for a few days so I can dye it again hopefully back to normal.
So anyway instead of a hair tutorial I’m going to show you how to make a pretty shopping bag. I believe that as many aspects of my life as possible should be filled with beautiful things. It follows fairly easily that I don’t like plain old grey shopping bags. After reading THIStutorial on Craftster I was inspired to make my own portable, reusable, beautiful bag ^_^ Mine is quite different than the original because I wasn’t reading the pattern as I was going so it folds differently.
Let’s get started then! Here is what you will need for the shopping bag:
-Fabric for the bag (and lining fabric if you decide to use it, I didn’t and it’s perfectly sturdy) -Plastic bag for pattern -Lace, pearls or other decorations
Cut the seams off the plastic bag at the top and bottom.
Unfold it so it looks like this:
You now need to use this as a pattern to cut two pieces like this out. If you are using lining cut some of that out too.
I had some spare pink lace that I decided to decorate mine with. I laid out the lace in several layers to get the effect I wanted. Then I sewed it all down.
I sewed a layer of lace flowers across the top of the lace. Now you should cut out a piece of fabric for the pocket, I decided to put a lace bow on there so I cut that out too.
Now sew the pocket onto one side!
Next it’s time to overlock all the loose seams and overlock the sides and tops of the handles together.
Now it’s time to put those origami skillz to good use! On the sides you should fold them in on themselves like the original plastic bag was. The handles should fold in on themselves too. Do it on both sides and then overlock the bottom seam. I then covered the bottom seam with lace flowers to match the top.
The few last steps are very simple. Sew the seams around the top and handles so they are neat. Then if you included the lace bow on the pocket, gather it in a piece of ribbon. Lastly I added a string of pearls which will double as a handle when it’s all folded up.
Here is an animation of how it folds up! 1. Fold the bottom underneath 2. Fold the side in 3. Fold the other side in 4. Fold the handles backwards 5. Fold it under on it’s self and push it into the pocket. 6. TADAA!
Β
If you don’t want to put it in your purse you can carry it in with the pearls until you need to fill it with groceries etc
Time to take it for a test drive!
When you buy something then unfold it and tadaa!
Sorry that wasn’t my best tutorial, I wasn’t expecting to use these photos as a tutorial. I was very crafty on the weekend, I’ll show you what else I made next time! Let me know if any of you make a hime gyaru shopping bag too!
