How To Do A Mini Bow Hairstyle Photo Tutorial
Omg finally photo hair tutorials!! James has made me a nice new set up to take the photos in so you’ll be seeing lots more of this in the near future!
At the bottom of this post there is a downloadable version and a video in case you get stuck.
So let’s get into it!
Start with brushed hair.
Grab a small section at the top of your head and brush it up and to one side.
Using a hair tie, make a ponytail but leave quite a bit of extra hair tie.
Pull the hair through the band again but only pull it a little way so it make a little loop like this:
Twist the hair band so it traps the loop in place:
Hold the loop in the palm of your hand and pull the loose hair through the hair tie again to form a second loop.
You should have something like this:
You can see the direction the hair comes through the band in this photo an the way the band wraps around.
Now to make it look more like a bow, push it forward and pin in place.
You can use the tail of hair to make the middle of the bow and cover the hair band. To do this just pull it backwards and pin there.
Like this!
I prefer to cover the band with a little flower.
This style looks extra cute if you curl the ends so it looks like a ribbon!
All done!
It’s worth giving it a blast of hairspray to keep in place. If you don’t want to use hairspray or you have thinner hair you can tease the ponytail so it has a better chance of staying in place.
Sometimes it’s easier to understand these kinds of things by seeing it in video form so here’s a video too!
I hope guys all enjoyed this tutorial as much as I enjoyed making it! Lots more to come, the new year is making me feel re-energised and creative!

Side Ponytail With A Twist and Pink School OOTD
It feels like I’ve been doing a lot of outfit videos lately but they are so much fun! I feel like you can get a better sense of how an outfit really works in a video.
Today’s is a pink school-ish number. I wore it when James’ parents were visiting. We played pool and I cheated won fairly because of my awesome skill.
An easy hair tutorial too, this one is good for summer and even better if you like braids but can’t work out how to do them around the head! It’s a basic side ponytail but the back is all twisted!

How To Make Your Own Hair Curlers
Ever wanted to make your own hair curlers? I haven’t really but I did want to see if foam rollers would work in my hair so I set out to give it a try!
You need:
I used some off cuts from the craft box I made last week.
They are extremely easy to make, you just need to cut the following shape: It’s basically a heart at the top and a squiggle at the bottom, it looks a bit like a key. Make sure to cut a hole in the heart and a line down the squiggle. Really you could just do a circle at the top but the heart is cuter 😉 Repeat depending on how many you need. I decided on 6 because I wanted to use them for a light wave effect in my hair. Before you use them make sure the end of the squiggle is the right size to be pulled through the hole in the heart. This is how they will stay together. Now to use them, brush your hair out and hairspray it. Grab a section of hair and poke it through the cut in the squiggle. Roll the whole thing upwards to your head. Poke the end of the squiggle through the hole in the heart and it will stay in place. Repeat with the other sections of hair. Where you place the curlers will effect the kind of curl you get in the end. Sleep with them in overnight. I actually found these to be more comfortable than pin curls as they are so squishy. In the morning unravel them all very carefully. The curls are just a little wavy rather than spiraly. If you want tighter curls you need to do smaller sections. After brushing through and styling they look quite pretty! You get the pretty waves without taking up time in the morning or putting in much effort. And from the back: Overall I would call this a success, the rollers worked well for the wavy effect I was looking for. I may make some more so I can get a variety of curl shapes too. What do you think? |
Peach Eye Make Up and 4 Fun Fringe Styles
In the spirit of trying some new things I decided to give the peach colours from my 88 palette a spin 😀 Morning Make Up with peach!
I started off making a video on my tips for keeping your fringe nice in Melbourne’s insane weather and instead I got a bit carried away and did a video with 4 fringe styles XD
Time for the vlogs!

Using a Crimper For Volume and Lazy Day Make Up
It’s really starting to warm up here. The hotter it gets, the lazier I get XD
Inspired by that, here is my ultimate lazy day make up!
And in another lazy-ish style, here’s how I use a crimper to get some volume at the top of my head. It’s easy and it lasts really well. Good alternative to teasing for simple styles!
And as if that wasn’t enough, here’s the laziest vlog ever 😀 We went to Werribee Open Range Zoo so here are some super cute animals! You know how much I love Meerkats!
And here’s two Lottie videos because I love seeing her as a puppy like this!
Hope you all had a good weekend! ^_^
12 School Friendly Hairstyles and Rose Garden OOTD
The first video today is another request. I get many comments and emails asking for school appropriate hairstyles and looks. It’s a bit hard to answer because every school has different rules. When I was at school the thing I worried about the most was sleeping in slightly more XD With that in mind I made a video with 12 different styles which are quick, simple and don’t require much explanation. Really they’re basic styles just jazzed up a bit using hair accessories. Really, accessories are the key here to make these plain looks more interesting!
Next some cute Lottie goodness!
Next up is a rose themed outfit of the day video. I really enjoy making these 😀 We filmed this one in the state rose garden, so pretty there!
Now some more footage from the family visit! This pretty much wraps it up from the visit 😀
Hope you all had a good weekend! ^_^
