Cel’s Deco Nail Store Review And Competition!

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100207

Today’s review is a little bit special because it’s a review of a shop run by one of my long time readers: Cel! Cel has been a reader from all the way back when I was at Blogspot and I didn’t even realise that she had opened her own store until recently when I saw some of her pieces online.

Located in Greece, Cel’s Deco Nails has stores on Etsy, StoreEnvy and Zibbet. As the name suggests, she makes kawaii themed decoden pieces and beautiful nail art. She has been nice enough to put together some pieces for a giveaway as well for you guys at the end of the post!

In her photos everything looks extremely high quality so I was curious as to whether it held up in person!

il_570xN.503312663_asm2 il_570xN.471718446_7oc0 il_570xN.505487108_19v7

So on to the review!

The package arrived safely via airmail with no issues, it was sent over the holiday period so while it was a little longer than regular international postage that was down to Australia Post being busy and understaffed rather than a shop problem. The package was bubble wrapped and decorated with deco tape. Inside there was a selection of Greek candy and chocolates for James and I to try in an upcoming vlog!

The jewellery was individually wrapped in tiny bags and placed in a sturdy box for shipping. Everything arrived in tact and even though the outside package was a bit banged up from the journey.

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review

All of the items came packaged in sets in little organza bags.

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review070840

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100178

Unpacked there was a really big mix of items including rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review070842

Let’s have a look close up! A lot of the pieces I received were handmade resin set on metal backings.

Earrings:

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review070845

These earrings were actually my favourite pieces in the entire package, mostly because they are beautiful but also the hook clasps that Cel used as a base have a closure system at the back. I love wearing drop earrings but they always get caught in my hair and end up falling out and getting lost 🙁 With these ones, the hook clips in so there’s no chance of them coming out later!

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100185

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100142

Here I am doing my best show room model posing with the matching earring and ring set. Clearly I’m not going to be a Wheel Of Fortune model any time soon 😉

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review2

The matching ring was adorable too. I love that a lot of her items are available in sets.

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100145

The resin jewels were perfectly set and I thought that the choices of glitter were really well matched to the individual pieces and pretty.

Bracelet:

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review070844

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100181

In terms of quality I think everything is very good for the price point. I’ve worn my favourite pieces several times over the last few weeks with no visible wear. Comparing them to other pieces I have in my jewellery box, the metals were very strong and not at all easily bendable so I think that’s a good indication of quality.

It’s not a fair review if I don’t point out downsides but the potential only down side I would make note of is that as with all metal costume jewellery you need would need to take appropriate care while wearing it to make sure that the finishes will remain perfect eg. not getting hand cream or water on the pieces while wearing them etc.

Rings:

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100186

Even the tiny metal filagree parts on the rings were sturdy which surprised me.

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review070843

The rings come on standard adjustable bases which would suit most people’s finger sizes. I have very small hands so when wearing the pieces I had to make the ring even smaller but that was easily achieved.

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100210Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100213

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review070847

The pendants came on a mixture of necklaces including stiff wire and black leather. I liked the stiff wire the best as it was a bit more delicate and suited my current style.

This Alice in Wonderland set was on the wire:

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100183

I thought the pendants were a really good size as well, they were little and delicate but not so much that they would get lost in an outfit.

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100216Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100221

Of course, what kawaii themed shop would be complete without some Hello Kitty?

The rings:

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100190

And the matching cuff bracelet is just gorgeous. Again I have very small wrists so cuff bracelets like this tend to just fall off me, if this is also an issue for you I would suggest making sure you look at the measurements before ordering.

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100191Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100193

But nothing compares to the glitter resin, it’s my new obsession. It’s just so hypnotically pretty!

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100187

I actually requested this pendant because in the Etsy photos I couldn’t stop staring at the glitter… when it arrived, I literally spent like 10 minutes staring at it in person. It’s just so sparkly… and now I sound a little like a crazy person… but hypnotic! I don’t wear much black so I’m going to switch the leather out onto a silver chain or possibly a string of pearls so I can wear it with everything. Hypnoglitter!!!

Cel-Decoden-Jewellery-Review100207

So the verdict: I thought the shipping was quick, the quality was great and the designs were very pretty. I think a lot of you will love Cel’s nail art and her decoden. I personally love the resin pieces the most. Cel’s store has a large range of different styles from cute and pink to more dark and gothic so I think it’s definitely worth a look.

Now the fun part…

A Ridiculously Accurate And Not Exaggerated Day In My Life – Clearasil Competition!

This competition was sponsored by Clearasil.
For more information on sponsored posts please click here.

Clearasil is launching their new Daily Clear Vitamins and Extract Range and they are holding a competition to celebrate. The range contains a scrub and wash which are gentle enough to be used daily but still being powerful enough to help clear your skin and give you the confidence to take on the day. It’s definitely hard to be at your most confident if you’re worrying about your skin!

Clearasil-Advertorial-142

P1120680

My pack even came with a pomegranate, yum! P1120684

The range is aimed at women who “…work hard and play hard” and as I’m apparently one of them, they asked me to test it out and see how it gave me the confidence to get through a typical busy day.

The problem is, my typical busy day isn’t very glamorous or internet worthy. In fact, those of you who watch my Daily V-Logs will know that most of my day look a lot like this:

Clearasil-Advertorial-415

And being even more realistic they look like this:

headesk

My days consist of answering emails, breakfast, writing posts, answering emails, lunch,  filming tutorials, taking calls, answering emails, dinner, writing tutorials, replying to comments, eating chips while drinking tea and answering more emails. Even Clearasil can’t make that look interesting.

Super glamorous, right? All of those things happen in front of the computer so it’s not like it makes for thrilling viewing!

But you know what’s more interesting than my actual life? How my life is in my dreams!

“How does that go?” I hear you asking….

At 9am I am woken by rays of sunshine streaming through my window as animated birds sing a jaunty morning tune. I’m already fully dressed, my outfit is awesome. I hope the birds didn’t dress me in my sleep, that would be a bit weird.

I don’t even need make up because my skin is so clear, my lashes are just that long and my eyelids are naturally gold and purple. If your eyelids match mine, you might want to consult a doctor.

Clearasil-Advertorial-123

I check my emails in bed and everything is positive! Oh look, a Nigerian Prince has written to me, that sounds lucrative!

Clearasil-Advertorial-129

I could play with the puppy in bed all day but instead I decide I should probably go do my morning cleansing routine.

Lucky for me, I’m so awesome that my skin just absorbs products via osmosis. YAY!

Clearasil-Advertorial-142Clearasil-Advertorial-143

At 10am I decide I should probably do some work on the computer… screw that though!

Instead I use my mind powers to make all of that work just do itself 😀

work

That leaves me more time to think about how busy and important I am!

Clearasil-Advertorial-303

With no work to do, I head out to a really fancy place to meet someone for lunch.

At 11am I’m a bit early for lunch though.

Clearasil-Advertorial-158

Hmmm what could I possibly do while I wait?

Oh right…

Clearasil-Advertorial-167

When my lunch date arrives at 12 we have a very fancy lunch.

Deep fried balls of rice? Doesn’t sound so fancy… Arancini? Totally fancy.

Clearasil-Advertorial-175

After my busy important lunch it’s 1pm and time for a spot of shopping. Not regular shopping mind you, fancy shopping only.

Clearasil-Advertorial-196

By 4pm I’m a bit peckish so I stop at a lovely cafe for a spot of tea.

Clearasil-Advertorial-229

Better instagram those chips, that stuff is totally internet worthy and the general public needs to know whether these were crunchy or not! They were btw.

Clearasil-Advertorial-217   Clearasil-Advertorial-235

After  a bit of a relax at the cafe it’s 5:00pm so I head off to meet a friend after she finishes work. On the way I’m complimented by all kinds of random strangers on how confident, adorable and amazing I am. It’s probably the Clearasil.

Clearasil-Advertorial-282

At 6pm while drinking bubble tea with my friend I realise I should probably do some more blogging. I’m so good at it that I don’t even have to look at my phone. Sup.

Clearasil-Advertorial-275

By the time it’s 7pm I’m pretty tired from all of the being fabulous I did today so I head home.

When I arrive James has made me a 7 course dinner with all the trimmings.

Clearasil-Advertorial-293

Lottie is prepared for my arrival too of course. She’s a good dog and never pees anywhere she’s not supposed to. Don’t you love that?

Clearasil-Advertorial-152

By the time it’s 9 we’ve finished dinner so I do my nightly cleansing routine using the new Clearasil range again.

I decide to turn it into my own tv commercial and see how refreshing all of that water splashing around is.

Clearasil-Advertorial-327

What, you don’t shower in all of your clothes? Well I wouldn’t want to disappoint those animated birds by taking off all of their hard work!

Clearasil-Advertorial-339

10pm- with my busy day out of the way it’s time to do some relaxing! I love watching movies at night and knitting.

Clearasil-Advertorial-300

By midnight I’m all tuckered out. It’s been such a long tiring day that I don’t know how I managed it all! Time to go to sleep with my puppy and animated birds. James isn’t allowed in the bed, we have separate twin beds like Lucy and Ricki because we’re so awesome.

Clearasil-Advertorial-318

And so ends my super busy day, hopefully tomorrow is just like it!

All joking aside I did actually try the new range.

P1120686

The results (and price) were nice so I’ll be continuing to use it.

Clearasil-Advertorial-372

The smell was fresh and  both products felt really nice on.

Clearasil-Advertorial-374

Afterwards I had a very clean feeling even though it was gentle enough for my sensitive skin. Even James tried and like it.

Clearasil-Advertorial-407

10 Travel Tips.

Hello we’re currently on holidays in Brisbane. We got back a few days ago from The Sunshine Coast and now we’re staying at James’ parent’s place.
Trip? That means time for packing tips!
I get a lot of questions about how I fit all of my clothes and junk in because I try to pack fairly light.
So I thought I would just make a video and show you guys!
Travel Tip #1.
Get the best suitcase you can afford. Hard case with 4 wheels is my favorite.
Two wheels is not enough, two wheels is never enough!
The four wheel ones are so good because you can pretty much push them around with a finger.
And I’m not very strong so I need a suitcase that wheels itself.
So for this trip I’m taking my new pink Cherry Blossom suitcase.
It’s from Hideo Wakamatsu and they were nice enough to send it to me.
My suitcase is a bit different to most other suitcases because it has a lot of other extra features.
For example it has a little coat hanger that comes with it.
It also has these dividers which unzip and then the second one on this side which clips down over here.
So when you open the suitcase everything is completely flat and nothing will have moved around which I really like.
Travel Tip #2
Use space bags or smaller bags to separate everything.
By space bags, I mean these vacuum sealed bags, I’m sure they have other names in different countries.
Even if you don’t plan on vacuuming them up they are really useful for dividing things and then if you have to open your suitcase in the airport or at your destination nothing will have moved around inside.
So you won’t get an avalanche of junk falling on you. k
Tip #3.
Bring a scarf.
Especially scarves you can crush up and they basically stay the same.
This one goes will pretty much everything, it’s light enough that it’s good for summer but when it’s bunched up it will keep you warm in the airport.
I hate being cold on planes
Tip #4
Pick good crushable fabrics.
I like to take things made of chiffon because they are floaty and breezy for a holiday but also easily crushable and they never crease.
You could roll this skirt up and throw it off a cliff and it would still look like this.
You know, unless it got snagged on some branches or something or a condor stole it and flew away and ate it because it thought it was a fish.
I don’t know what condors eat…
Anyway!
Chiffon is really good so I always pack lots of chiffon.

10 Packing Tips – Win A Beauty Travel Case From Hideo Wakamatsu

This giveaway was sponsored by the Hideo Wakamatsu Australia.

For more information on sponsored posts check out this FAQ.

Omg 2 competitions in a week? That’s pretty awesome! This week is giveaway week and next week is craft tutorial week, I have a lot of sewing things coming up now that I’m home for a little bit 😀

Before we get to the winning part, I wanted to show you guys some packing tips using my new Hideo Wakamatsu luggage set because I often get questions about this kind of thing.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu364

Here’s the video I made about it while we were away!

I have been lusting after Hideo Wakamatsu suitcases for far too long as I first saw them in 2007 when I researched luggage for a trip to Japan. I was basically over the moon when they offered to send me a suitcase and the matching beauty case for review!

The brand is based in Japan/USA and the new collections come out here around twice a year. If you’ve ever seen the typical Japanese school backpacks (aka Randoseru) you’ve seen one of his family’s designs.

The set arrived in boxes and was sent via courier. Everything was wrapped up in plastic too. When James saw it unwrapped the first thing he said was “Well, everyone will know which one yours is!”. I’m sure there are statistics somewhere to prove this wrong but I also (probably delusionally) think having an awesome design like this would deter thieves because it’s so easy to spot.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu353Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu361

After unwrapping they look even prettier in person!

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu365

I was sent the Sakura 62cm TSA Check-In Trolley and the Sakura Beauty Case. The pretty pink Saukra is the most popular in the range but f you’re into wilder things I suggest you have a look at the Safari range because it’s animal print!

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu371Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu372

This is going to sound dumb but my favorite feature of the range (other than how adorable the print is) is the wheels. I don’t think you know pain until you’ve tried to drag a 23kg soft shell 2 wheeled suitcase which has a broken metal arm poking out through an airport. This moves like a cloud in comparison. My second favorite feature is the soft return spring on the handle which makes it go down slowly like those self-closing drawers from Ikea! It’s the little things….

This one weighs 5.4kg empty so if weight limits are an issue in your area I would take a look at the Tarpaulin range which doesn’t have the girly design but it is only 2.7kg so yay extra shopping space room. The Smart is another one to check out if you’re looking for shopping space because it’s foldable and can be put inside a suitcase on the way there and expanded on the way home for shopping – check out this video. It’s not available in Australia yet but it will be here in around August.

I would still recommend anything with 4 wheels, I actually pushed it through the airport (with 18kgs of clothes inside) using two fingers. Seriously.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu391

Not being weighted down by luggage when you are running through an airport? Best. Feeling. Ever.

Hideo-Wakamatsu65

James has the worst airport luck ever so I try to minimize any potential problems. We call it McDuff luck. Seriously, I don’t think there has been a time we’ve flown in the last 6 years where there hasn’t been some kind of problem. He always gets security scanned too, I think he looks a bit dodgy  😉

Aaanyway… the whole range comes with TSA locks so if Customs officials want to look inside and search it’s relatively quick and painless.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu380

I found the snap locks to be very convenient and much quicker than a zip especially if like me, you tend to over pack things!

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu394

It’s much easier to sit on the suitcase and snap lock it than it is to have to zip round the edge and try to force the zip when it’s caught or broken.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu493

The inside of the case comes with a lot of interesting gadgets. I don’t know if all of my previous luggage has just been super old but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one which has so many extra functions *_*

It opens completely flat which makes packing each half very easy but I’ve propped it up for the photos so you can see what’s going on.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu443

Each side is closed up with it’s own divider and each divider has a purpose. The top one is a garment holder and is detachable so you can take it out at the hotel. It even has it’s own little fold up coat hanger which clips into the top of the case to keep things neat.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu488

I actually used this to hang belts, scarves and stockings because they are the little things that I tend to have to dig for and can never find at the bottom of my luggage.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu477

The other side of the garment bag has a mesh zip section which I used for cables and chargers. That whole thing clips up to the top of the bag to hold everything in place and keep it safe.

I don’t think it was actually part of the suitcase but the paperwork came in a clear zip reusable bag which I intend to use for carry on liquids on future trips. For this trip I used to to hold our beach things. Everything has a use!

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu451

The top of the coat hanger can fold down and actually grip on to the top of the bag so it’s locked in place too.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu484
On the other side the divider is a mesh sleeve which I used to hold flat things like notebooks and art suplies.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu498
This wouldn’t be a good review without pointing out things that I didn’t like. The only thing I had problems with while we were traveling was pressing the button to pull up the handle on the suitcase. My nails are ridiculously long at the moment so I couldn’t fit my fingers in XD I had the same issue with opening the beauty case until I realised I could actually use the plastic part of the keys in place of my fingers!

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu402

Overall opinion of the suitcase? After traveling with it I can honestly say I love it. I’ve had a love affair with it from afar but I was a little worried that I’d built up unrealistic expectations. I hadn’t, it was totally awesome. I think the middle size is perfect for both domestic and international flights (especially with the lower weight limits these days). Completely stuffed full it didn’t exceed 18kgs. If it was an extended international trip I might look at the larger size but this managed to work for both James and I on a 10 day trip so I’m very happy with it. Pulling it was a breeze, I love the gadgets and features, definite recommend.

I am planning to customise it with my monogram on the front to make it even more of a deterrent to thieves ;D

Lottie seemed to think it was her new house -_-

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu512

Now the beauty case!

Obviously I love the design, I also love that it has a lock and a combination code.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu509

Inside there were instructions, a pull out tray, a foldable mirror and stickers which you can spell out your name with.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu408

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu436

The tray clips into the case or can be clipped to the front for easier access. The mirror then clips on to the tray and can be angled to whatever is easiest.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu411

Inside were some elastic straps at the back to hold small items like jewellery. The lining is fabric and wipes clean of make up/spills quite easily.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu427

I loved the mirror and the removable tray, the lighting in the bathroom of the place we were staying sucked so it made it a lot easier to just carry everything to the balcony and do my make up and hair there! The main compartment is huge too. I easily fit my hair appliances, make up, skin care and a LOT of accessories in there. The sturdy construction and lock meant that I felt comfortable enough to actually check this in separately which was good because I had packed the suitcase so full there was no room XD

The only thing I wasn’t 100% on about the beauty case was that you couldn’t really keep small items in the tray while traveling. I had it checked in on the way up and of course it was shaken around and I’m sure probably stood upside down so when we got to the other size all of the small items had scattered everywhere. I solved this by wrapping a small scarf around the tray on the way back to secure everything inside. Easy!

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu419

Over all thoughts on the beauty case? Love it too. I love that it’s a matching set, I love that I can check it in separately to save room for more clothes and I love that the space inside is so versatile. The mirror is super handy and the case is extremely strong so I don’t need to worry about damaging the things inside or anything getting crushed.

Cherry-Blossom-Hideo-Wakamatsu518

Sorry Lottie, you can’t come with us =(
