DIY Nail Polish Holder – Tutorial

Ok so I keep seeing these nail polish bottle holders for sale and while the idea is kind of useful, it just seems kind of a bit much to spend that kind of money on something that you can make in 30 seconds with a piece of wire…

Literally all you need is some thick-ish jewellery wire and some pliers to snip it (and curl the ends around if you want to get fancy… or safe).
Cut off a length of wire, maybe 30cm depending on how huge your polish bottles generally are… then curl it into a spiral. I got all upmarket and twisted the ends over so I didn’t stab myself with it later.
Make the spiral wider on the bottom so it has a steady base.
Now bend the spiral over it’s lopsided and the polish bottle will tip a bit.
Insert the polish bottle and you’re done…
Now you can access the polish more easily and didn’t have to pay any money for the privilege. Of course you could just, you know, tip the bottle slightly… but who has time for that anyway 😛

Jingly Pearl And Gold Bracelet Take 2 – Tutorial

My obsession with pearls and gold chain continues today with another bracelet. This version is much more jingly so people will hear you coming ^_^

You will need:

  • Chain
  • Pearls
  • Clasps
  • Wire or thread

To begin with, cut a piece of wire around twice the size of your wrist and attach a clasp to one end of it. Make sure it’s nice and secure because it will be the weakest part of the bracelet.

Slide the end of the chain onto the wire, then a pearl and then the chain again a little further down. You can vary the amount of chain you leave between pearls for different effects, I chose to thread it every 10 links.

Continue alternating between pearls and chain until it’s as long as you want it to be.

Once you reach the end just tie off the wire, attach the other part of the clasp and then snip the extra wire.

Such an easy bracelet to make but it’s so effective and looks really expensive!

I love it! Now I’m thinking of perhaps making a matching necklace too!

Let’s Go To The Beach! Melbourne Snapshots

I promised myself that we would visit the beach at least once before it got cold again.

While we did get to the beach, the weather was a bit…

It’s a little hard to see in the photo but there were little seagull footprints all around these lost feathers.

James made friends with a bouncy ball he found. Then he lost it in the ocean… then he rescued it from the ocean… then he lost it in the ocean again >_> It was an emotional day for him.

Afterwards we went to La Porchetta for lunch and it was actually really yummy. It looked like a repurposed RSL but it was so good!

I did wonder a bit as to the cause of these instructions for our left overs. I mean seriously, did someone actually get sick and sue over something like this? INSANITY.
