All Time Beauty Favourites- Mascara

Back to beauty favourites! I get asked a lot which make up I’m wearing and honestly most of the time it’s pretty much the same thing. I don’t change stuff up very often once I find something that really works for me. So I’ve decided to do an “All Time Beauty Favourites” series and today is mascara!

I have a lot of eye allergies and mascara is something which I’m very sensitive to 🙁 This means I have to be very picky with it and once I find something good I stick to it hard!
From left to right below:
Mirenesse Vibralash-  Definite favorite and best of the group. It’s one of those tubing mascaras so it stays on all day and then comes off in tubes with a little water. I didn’t react to this at all and I LOVE it. I would totally buy it again but it’s quite expensive so I am trying to find a more budget friendly dupe at the moment. I think I am close to giving up and just buying this again though.
Lancome Ôscillation-  Great for the lower lashes because of the weird pointy brush. Didn’t really stand out a huge amount though so I’m a bit indifferent.
Clinique High Impact-  Another average one which I didn’t react to. Good but it can be a bit hard to get off.
Catalina Geo-  Pretty much the same as the Clinique. I didn’t react to it and it’s not a tubing mascara but it’s fairly easy to remove. I like that it comes with a spare tube as well, that’s cool!
Maybelline Mega Plus Volume Express- LOVE this mascara but I have a minor reaction to it ;_; It gives crazy volume but it’s a little liquidy so it tends to get everywhere when I apply it. Also it’s lid is a jerk that won’t stand up by it’s self and ruined my photo!
God mascaras have long stupid names.
So I really love everything about the Mirenesse except the price! I love tube mascaras, they are so great but so hard to find now that the technology isn’t a big deal ;_; Have you guys tried any other ones? Let me know if I’ve seen any others!
Hope you found that helpful and see you next time I do an All Time Favourite post!

Strawberry Deco Roll Cake – Cute Food

Less of a tutorial today and more of an adventure in baking! A while ago, Kim came over with the idea that we could try our hand at baking together. Craziness ensued but we managed to product a perfectly good Japanese style deco cake roll out of it. We went with a strawberry theme inside and out!

The recipe we used is from the Create Eat Happy blog, have a look at it here if you want to make your own.

The basic process is fairly easy, the recipe is for a basic swiss roll batter which is divided into various colours and then piped. First you draw all of the little details onto baking paper in various colours. Kim was clever enough to print a template to use under the baking paper.

So we piped on the spots and stalks of the strawberries and baked it for a few minutes so it was dry.

Then we piped the rest of the strawberries and baked that too. Lastly we added the rest of the plain batter to make the full roll. In the end when you turn it all out you can see the pattern really clearly.
Once it’s all cooled down you added whipped cream and strawberries to the inside and then wrap it up.
Once it’s set in the first it should look something like this!
Omg so yummy! These are the perfect amount of sweet without being too much.
They go perfectly with a nice cup of tea!
Of course some extra strawberries don’t hurt either!
Now that I understand the process I really want to experiment with more designs and recipes! Seriously SO yummy!

Eating Out Snapshots

Somehow I ended up with a hard drive full of delicious food photos. Not that I’m complaining but editing them makes me so hungry again!

My favourite food lately has been pho and rice paper rolls. I’ve been making them at home a lot and they’re so yummy!

And green tea ice cream from Rice Workshop!

Obviously brie…

We tried this monstrosity: cheeseburger pizza. It was seriously terrible. Two delicious things turned into sadness.

Kimchi fries: DELICOUS

What have you been craving lately? I need some more comfort food to make at home!
