Evil Doll Illamasqua Make Up Transformation!

Last week I was lucky enough to get an invite to the Illamasquacounter opening at Chadstone shopping center. Considering how much fun the city launch was I was really excited to go. They had flown in 3 of their best make up artists to give us all transformations too so that was the icing on an already awesome cake!

Champagne and orange juice was waiting when we arrived.

With lots of the MBBE girls it was awesome to catch up with good friends.

Lovely make up artist Daniel Busuttil welcomed us to the event. All of the MBBE girls are in agreement, he has the most perfect eyebrows that any of us have ever seen.

With the lovely Celina from Fables in Fashion:

And Jaciewho had a “Futuristic Mad Men” themed make over…

Love this photo of her so much:

And this one too, Jamestook so many awesome photos of the night!!

After all of us had caught up, the transformations began!

Illamasqua_www.JimmyAmerica.com_023

I was given the royal treatment by the fantastic Philip Buck who is so funny and sweet. The girls started plotting ways to keep him in Australia and not let him go home!

Now before we get to the “after” pictures I should probably explain the idea of an Illamasqua Transformation. The tag line for the brand is “Your Alter Ego” so a transformation is different to a regular make over because it is supposed to take you completely out of your comfort zone and show you an alter ego. So if you think it will be too traumatic to see me in anything other than sweet cutesy things it’s probably a good idea to skip the rest of this post -_-‘

Philip’s skills were amazing. I told him the look that I usually go for and that I wanted something completely crazy and he ran with it!

Illamasqua_www.JimmyAmerica.com_048

My eyes started freaking out at the powder (crazy sensitive eyes) half way and watering everywhere so I undid some of his beautiful work, instead of re-doing he took it as inspiration and turned it into something even more awesome!

This sparkly pigment was awesome and I have added to my want-list!

Starting to get darker now…

After, the transformed Tim Burton nightmare me:

By the end of the transformation there was a whole crowd of onlookers watching us XD

Some of the MBBE girls and I trying to do our scary faces:

We’re not so great at being scary though!

The rest of the post is just going to be pic spam because it was so cool it deserves pictures!

Haha the poor other girls were convinced that they were going to have nightmares about me!

I think James was a little worried about waking up to this too hahaha!

My absolute favorite photo:

All in all it was a fantastic night and I really enjoyed breaking out of my comfort zone. I like trying new things, that’s how you discover old favorites! I would definitely recommend having an Illamasqua transformation, it’s an awesomely fun way to try something new.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my alter ego 😉

How To Make a Blythe Boater Hat

So yesterday I showed you how I quickly redid the cheap boater hat I bought a few weeks ago. Well I thought seeing as there were quite a few scraps left over I should probably do something with them too! So what I made was a little mini boater for my Blythe XD

Blythe Boater Hat Tutorial

What I used:

  • Left over straw from the hat
  • Hot glue (because it was an experiment, you could easily stitch it to make it look more polished)
  • A couple of pretty flowers

Blythe Boater Hat Tutorial

So first thing I did was stretch and break some of the fibres in the straw so it was easier to bend it to the shapes that I wanted.
Starting with a small spiral and fold the end over itself:

Glue in place.

Keep following the spiral around getting bigger and gluing along the way.

Blythe Boater Hat Tutorial

One it’s big enough to be the top of the hat cut and glue the edge in place.

Ending up with something like this…

Next it’s time for the middle part. Start by measuring around the circumference of the circle you just made.  and form a loop of the straw, glue together!

Blythe Boater Hat Tutorial

Spiral it down until it’s tall enough, cut and glue 😀

Something like this:

Now the last part before it’s all put together: the brim.

Again spiral it out and glue in place.

Now it just needs the top to be put on!

And that’s it! Much quicker when you’re making them doll sized XD

The view from the top…

And after adding a couple of flowers it looks much cuter! Mine looks a little dodgy with excess glue because I was experimenting as I went but I’m sure if you were more careful you could get it perfect ^_^

And that’s it! Quick and easy so your doll can be as stylish as you 😀 Do you guys want me to try and make more dolls things or do you all prefer people sized things?

Cancan Hat Straw Boater Hat Modification Take 2!

I’m a sucker for a bargin and so when I saw a plain looking straw boater hat in Big W for $15 I grabbed it thinking there is no such thing as having too many hats 😀

Boater Hat Modification 2

Being in a hurry to wear it when James took me on a picnic I stitched a couple of flowers on the sides to wear it out. That was was a good lesson though because that day I learned that this hat is too big and blows off at the slightest breeze *_* So something had to be done!

Boater Hat Modification 2

First thing was to remove 3-4 layers around the edge to make it less of a big sun hat and more of a cute barbers shop quartets hat 😉

Boater Hat Modification 2

Basically to do that (just like my other cancan hat tutorial) I snipped the tread and unwound it.

Boater Hat Modification 2

The stitched the end in place…

Now to prevent it from falling off I got some combs:

Pulled off the decorations….

And stitched them on the inside. Now it attaches to my hair nice and snugly and won’t go anywhere!

Boater Hat Modification 2

Nice quick modification and very happy with the results 😀

Boater Hat Modification 2

I haven’t worn it out since the modifications but this is what it looked like before I did the brim, I’ll post more photos when I wear it out.

Snapshots

Tomorrow I’ll show you what I did with all the left over bits from the brim! Hint: I made someone else a really small hat XD
