Outfit time ^_^
Shoes- City Beach maybe? Can’t remember but it was some beach-ish store like that Dress- Made by me. Beret- Portmans, modified by me Scarf- Forever New Cardigan- Gift from my MotherI love this dress, every time I post a photo of it someone asks about it XD So to avoid confusion and repeating myself here is the dress’ vital statistics:
- I made it as a back up for my 2009 Nuffnang Awards night dress
- It took around 3 hours to sew
- I made up the pattern and it is the one I base 90% of the dresses I sew for myself on
- The fabric was from Spotlight, possibly from the quilting section, I can’t remember
- I got such a tight/tailored/good fit by adjusting it on myself
- No I can’t make another one because I can’t find the fabric again
- Yes the pattern on the dress is the same as my blog’s background, I scanned and photoshopped it until it looked good, took a few hours.
I think that’s everything XD |
I don’t have much purple in my wardrobe but I really wanted to try and coordinate this top because it’s got such pretty buttons!
Cardigan- Ice Shirt- Forever New Skirt- Present from Celeste Gloves- Forever New Shoes- Bodyline
Shorter than I usually wear but still kind of cute ^_^
As the weather gets much chillier I’ve been busting out all my warm clothes again and loving it!
Don’t worry I didn’t dye my hair, though the panicked PM’s on Twitter were very funny!
Wig- Fashion Addict Shirt- Paige Flynn Skirt- Vintage present from Super Kawaii Mama Hat- Made by me Stockings- Myer, dyed accidentally pink by my washing machine. Jacket- Forever New, modified by me
I really need to finish modifying this jacket, I love it but the fit isn’t quite right yet and I want to add to it and make it a bit more personalised.
Again this has been full of casual clothes but as Winter sets in more I think I’ll have more motivation to get dressed up more!

So remember that leopard print nail art I was talking about when I reviewed Molten Metalics from Face of Australia? I actually got around to doing it! No, it’s not particularly original and I’ve done the same pattern a bajillion times but it’s still hard to not look at in the sunlight!
I’ve previously done a video tutorial on leopard print but some people have trouble following videos so here’s a nice easy quick photo tutorial of the steps.
What you need:
- 3 colours of polish
- Thin brush
- Clear topcoat
I’m using false nails, these were the only ones I had left in my stash and they weren’t quite the correct size or the shape I prefer unfortunately. Kind of makes me want to grow out my natural nails again or get awesome glitter acrylics but I just don’t have time or patience for it at the moment >_<Start with clean, filed nails.
Apply 2 coats of base coat and wait until completely dry. The base colour I used was White Gold.
The next colour I’m using is Gold. This is where the tiny paint brush comes in handy!
Paint little splotches all over the nails randomly.
They don’t need to be even or the same size, you can make them as big or small as you like.
Last colour I’m using is Bronze.
Use the tiny paint brush to edge the spotches. Don’t worry about being neat about it and don’t go around the edge in a complete circle, you want it to be broken up into 2-3 parts with gaps between them.
Let it dry, apply a clear top coat for extra shine and you’re done!
You could reverse the colours to put a light leopard print on a dark background for a really pretty effect too.
This is a really good pattern to break your teeth on if you’ve never tried nail art before because it doesn’t matter if you make mistakes 😀 |

I love capes 😀 When I saw this one in the shape of a gigantic bow from JD I was struck with lust. I’ve seen quite a few in that shape over the years but this one was just beautiful… and also $500+ ;_;
I had a heap of white faux fur left over from a commission several years ago so I decided to try out a diy version. This is my end result:
What you need:
- Faux fur
- Fabric for the lining
- Sewing machine/overlocker
- Pins
- Needle and thread
Cut out the main shape out of the cape from the faux fur:
Cut out the same shape from the lining and also cut out a rectangle for the middle part of the bow in both the fur and lining fabric.
Pin the main part on the cape together with the lining, good sides sandwiched together. Around the edges poke as many of the tufts of fur into the inside as possible so they don’t get caught on the outsides when you sew it all together.
Over lock the top and bottom edges so you have something like this:
Do the same thing with the little rectangular piece: pin, overlock together the top and bottom seam.
Turn both of the pieces inside out.
This is roughly what you should have…
If you want you can overlock all the raw edges at this point but because they will be encased in fabric and this isn’t going to get much wear and tear I didn’t bother.
So now we need to pleat the edges to form the bow shape. I pleated into 3 folds:
Use the needle and thread to hold them together and repeat on the other side too:
It’s a bit hard to see what I’m doing in the photos here but basically the small rectangular piece is going to join the two pleated ends together. Poke the pleated part into the middle of the rectangular piece and sandwich it between the fur and lining. Fold the edges of the rectangular piece under so nothing is exposed and then hand stitch it all in place.
Repeat on the otherside and it’s a nice big bow 😀
You can see the pleats and stitches better on the inside:
And the finished outside…
And me wearing it!
So tenchincally this was free because I already had the materials but to buy faux fur like this is only around $15p/m at Lincraft so I imagine you could very easily get everything you need for under $20 and probably more around the $12 mark as you don’t need a whole metre for this!
What do you all think?
