First off we took a trip to Cacao Green which is a new frozen yoghurt place at 285 Swanston St. Celeste was there for a food blogger event and as James and I have been writing for her on her food blog, we tagged along.
Me with the adorable owner Alvi, she was so sweet!
This is the best green tea latté I’ve ever tried period. I’m completely addicted to them now, I’ve been back like 3 times for more because even the large is only $4.70 XD
I had a delicious berry parfait (again I’ve been back for these!) so delicious.
James’ tried the blueberry waffles and he said it was the best he’s had in a long time.
I love hanging out with food bloggers, they are always so friendly and it was awesome to catch up with everyone!
I know I’ve mentioned visiting here before in snapshots when they just opened but it’s so yummy I could talk about them all day haha!
Everything here is all natural, fair trade, organic etc and the yoghurt is made from organic non-fat milk if you look out for things like that.
Toppings
So that was an awesome day and I definitely recommend heading over to try a green tea latté 😀
I think a lot of this snapshots post is about awesome places we’ve eaten >_< We were recently introduced to Korean fried chicken at a place called Gami Chicken and after discovering they deliver to our apartment it’s become a dangerous obsession haha!
Cute sign at Gami:
Kev and Celeste trying to be serious for 5min so we could take photos.
Kim and I were trying to take photos together but SOMEONE was kind enough to photobomb us, she was so quick though the she looks like a ghost!
And my ever classy boyfriend does not let greasy chicken fingers get in the way of making the same face he makes in every single photo ever.
The poor trees in our area can’t decide whether it’s Winter or Autumn because of the strange weather so most of them seem to have dropped half their leaves and given up in protest.
I can’t believe it’s been so long and I haven’t posted these yet, I need to get organised and do snapshots more often. Months ago we had an MBBE meet where everyone brought make up they no longer needed or didn’t suit them and we swapped. I of course was running on half a brain that morning and forgot my bag of stuff >_< Seriously fail, I have since swapped and given it all to friends/bloggers who it would suit so it worked out in the end!
So much stuff!
Of course wer were all totally orderly about it…
Ok maybe not..
No clue what we were talking about here but apparently it was hilarious and involved some kind of hat!
Taking a change of pace, this is the saddest looking puppy ever:
Second only to this puppy (my Dad’s dog Ruby) who is only pretending to be sad so I will turn the heater on next to her basket.
We went to an event at MadMex so I could write a post for Celeste’s food blog and I had my first taste of “authentic” Mexican food.
James was in paradise here because he misses all of the Mexican available in Texas while he was growing up. I was really surprised how much I liked it too as I’m not a fan of spicy things.
Here in Aus, Mexican isn’t very common so they printed instructions of how to open a burrito on the napkin XD I think I still failed at it hahaha!
I’ve been looking around at a lot of junk stores lately for storage solutions and I spotted these cute garden pike thingies. I want to buy some and break off the legs so I can glue them to the bottoms of our windows, it would be so cute!
An adorable mini tea pot:
That’s all for now, tune in to the next snapshots post to laugh at the face I make tasting an oyster for the first time in many many years. I’m considering making a gif out of it XD
Months ago Celeste and I were out shopping and she spotted a belt she liked, one of those ruffly elastic ones with the bows on the front. She almost bought it but it looked wrong when it was stretched because it lost the cute ruffle. I found a bunch of left over elastic in my stash when I cleaned it out so I thought I would have a go at making her one instead.
What I ended up with:
What you need:
Lace
Elastic (thick)
Fabric
Sewing machine/overlocker
Bows for the front or more fabric to make bows
Snap closures
Needle, thread, scissors
Start by measuring around your waist and cutting two pieces of elastic. You can adjust how much elastic you want depending on if you want the belt to be tight or just a bit snug. Leave around 5cm more than you think you need so the ends can overlap for the closure.
Lay out the elastic on the fabric and measure so you can cut 2 strips which are twice as long as the elastic and with 2cm extra for seams on the top/bottom.
You should have something like this:
Cut 2 pieces of lace which are as long as the fabric. Lay the first piece of fabric face up, place the lace along the edge with the nice edges pointing towards the middle…
Then place the other fabric on top, good side down so it sandwiches the lace. Mmmm lace sandwich…
Pin in place if you need to. There shouldn’t be much lace sticking out the sides if any. Now overlock or sew down each long side to form it into a big tube.
You can see when I lift up the top layer of fabric, the lace is being sewn into the seam between them. When we eventually turn it all inside out it will poke out the top and bottom without needing to be top stitched.
One side sewn and flattened out so you can see what I mean a bit better…
Stitch the other side too and you should end up with a tube like this:
Open up the hole at one end, turn it all inside out and flatten it. If you want it to be flatter you can iron it and top stitch each side.
Now thread both pieces of elastic through and make sure they don’t twist along the way. If you need to you can use a safety pin in the end to push them through.
It should be all bunched up like this:
Making sure the elastic isn’t twisted, overlock down each side to hold it in place.
Now you have a big stretchy ruffled thing…
Hand stitch a couple of snap closures or hooks on to the ends.
If you want you can fold the edges into seams to hide the raw stitching but as it’s going to be covered by the bows it doesn’t really matter.
Now stitch on some bows to one side and you’re done!
Taadaaa finished!
Now fingers crossed Celeste will like it and I’ll be able to show you it all being worn ^_^

This week is shaping up to be a week full of videos I think! Today is the last video Celeste and I made before I upgraded all my lighting so be prepared for awesomeness to come ^_^ I’ve finally finished my crochet bunny tutorial with the video too so that will be up mid week YAY! I really can’t wait to post some of the ones I’ve been working on because the quality is finally something I’m happy about XD
Buuuut back on topic. Today’s video with Celeste is all about the double hair buns. I did a tutorial on double buns quite a while ago but again somethings are easier to understand in video so hopefully this is helpful.
Again imagine this conversation going on:
Violet: I really like this style on you.
Celeste: You think? I bet if James had hair you would play with it all the time.
Violet: Yeah but I imagine he would shave it just to avoid me doing this to him!
Celeste: You’ve just got to catch him while he’s sleeping and glue a wig on!
Violet: Ooooh that’s not a bad idea!
Celeste: Hime-wig-James!!!
Violet: Double bun James!!
James: *silently plans to return to Russia and never come back*
In case all of you were wondering as much as I was… this is what double bun James would look like mwahahahaha!
