Melbourne Snapshots

Snapshots time!

Some of these photos are from months ago that I only just found today *_* I don’t know what on earth is going on with my computer’s filing system everything is out of order and I seem to have randomly lost a bunch of photos. Need to be more organised!!

Quite some time ago James and I were working on a video project which needed a voice over so our clients organised a recording studio. The lovely Jen and I are going over the scripts below.

Our sound technician for the day was just awesome, so knowledgeable and being in the industry since the 70’s and working with some absolutely massive names, he had some epic stories!

VioletLeBeauxDSC_0225_2019

The whole place was decked out with 70’s style stone walls so it was kind of like stepping into a time machine. James and I were more interested in the tech equipment though, it reminded me of when I worked in theatre a long time ago 😀 So many buttons!

We were lucky enough to visit Doll at the Mount before it closed too, it’s basically a tea house which is filled with dolls, knick knacks and toys run by the loveliest ladies.

They had pink sugar, so cute!

And zomg so many sandwiches and cakes, all of the little details were beautiful! Cupcakes covered with edible glitter, little flowers from the garden as decoration. So many varieties of scones too.

YUM!

Random hair clip that I snapped a picture of so I would remember to try it at home… the picture didn’t work: I completely forgot about it until now -_-‘

I got to catch up very quickly again with Jessicat before she headed back to Malaysia and we ate at the Pancake Parlour. It was so god to see her again but these are some of the photos that have disappeared >_< If I find them again I’ll post them! On the not of Pancake Parlour, it was nowhere near as good as the Brisbane one. The prices were higher, portions much smaller and the quality of the food was much lower. That said service was better and we didn’t wait long which is a change compared to Brisbane! I really do miss 24hr pancakes in a gigantic old refurbished church though!

We went to a restaurant which is one of the first places in Melbourne to have touch screen ordering, Novelty for the win!

Looking at this photo reminds me that it’s been ages since I curled my hair, I’ve been very lazy! Actually I’m thinking of getting a curling iron for some variety, as I usually just do pin curls or use my straightener. Do you girls have any recommendations for one? I thought about getting the mini curler which is from the same line as my straightener because it’s been so good but I’m worried that with a mini one it will take forever to do my whole head!

Some of the delicious food at that place:

And James being his usual classy self…

VioletLeBeauxP1040413_360 copy

Speaking of James’ classy self, we went on a double date with Celina and her partner Toby to a buffet place a while ago. James was sad to see that they had burger ingredients but no burgers so he made his own with a dinner roll -_-‘

I also tried oysters for the first time in like 8 years and this was the resulting face:

He took several photos of my reaction that he’s threatening to make into an animated gif if I didn’t show you a picture of the best steak he ever had… It’s from the Intercontinental hotel and apparently if it was legal he would leave me and marry it.

Back to less manly things, here is some more random architecture. I totally want to live in this building just so I can sit in the turret and look longingly out the window.

P1040264 copy

This building over in Docklands had a gigantic anchor flag thing on it’s roof which was pretty cool.

VioletLeBeauxP1040398_345 copy

Pretty walkway between buildings, I want my future house to have gigantic iron gates like that 😀

And for today’s humour this is apparently what happens when James doesn’t have enough *actual* work to do, he practises his skills and plays in Photoshop and makes fictional magazine covers -_-‘ I swear if there actually was a magazine such as and they actually asked me to be on a cover *cough yeah right*  this I would brush my hair and put on a reasonable amount of make up on first.

And I will leave you with the fluffiest puppy ever. EVER.

Hope you guys have an awesome weekend!

Outfit Of The Day and Make Up Post!

Funnily enough this is the only actual outfit in this outfit post XD I don’t know how this happened but apparently I only took make up photos over the last few weeks, not outfit ones >_<

Dress: Discount store at Harbour Town Jumper: 7 Angels Shoes: 7 Angels Beanie: Made by meThat outfit was for a casual MBBE meet up, I was testing out an Estee Lauder palette so it was all browns and natural colour. The result is still quite nice though.VioletLeBeauxP1040928_3673 copyI have been trying out coating my lower lashes with mascara and using lower liner too for the first time. For this look I just did the lashes on the outer half of my eyes. I quite like it but it’s not something I would do every day.

This was a more colourful experiment that I tried out for the second time to meet up with my friend Alice for tea.

Violet LeBeaux_One Day In Paradise_023

She said it reminded her of a fairy and I’m inclined to agree ^_^

Violet LeBeaux_One Day In Paradise_025

I’m still refining this a bit and seeing whether it looks best with lower mascara or not but I think it’s a really nice look.Violet LeBeaux_One Day In Paradise_024

Tutorial on this has been requested so once I get it right I’ll make one ^_^Violet LeBeaux_One Day In Paradise_026

LAstly the whole lower mascara/eyeliner has lead me to some fun experiments

Violet LeBeaux_One Day In Paradise_001

This looks is a lot more grungy and much darker than I’m used to wearing but James really liked it XD

Violet LeBeaux_One Day In Paradise_007

He had a bunch of new lighting that he needed to test so I was the stand in model again >_<

Violet LeBeaux_One Day In Paradise_002

These last two photos are crappy phone pictures taken from my mobile blog to show some more of the bottom lash experiments I’ve been doing. This one uses little corner bottom falsies that I think I really like.

And this one is just to show that I do actually have lower lashes, I didn’t even know they existed because they’re blonde!

So what do you all think, are you a fan of lower lashes or do you prefer to do your top ones only? Do you guys have tips for applying bottom mascara without stabbing yourself in the eye/making a big mess?

Cute Heart Pin Cushion Sewing Tutorial

Ages ago someone requested a pin cushion tutorial so this idea has been bouncing around my head for a few months but I didn’t have the materials until now.

Heart Shaped Pin Cushion Tutorial

You need:

  • Felt
  • Stuffing/fabric scraps
  • Needle/thread
  • Lace
  • Rose ribbon
Heart Shaped Pin Cushion Tutorial
First you will need to decide how big you want your heart to be, I was using scrap lace so I had to measure how much I actually had to go around the heart!
Heart Shaped Pin Cushion Tutorial

So cut two hearts…

…and one long rectangle which is long enough to go around the outside of the heart. You will also need 2 pieces of lace as long as the rectangle and two pieces of the rose ribbon to cross over the top.

Heart Shaped Pin Cushion Tutorial

Sandwich the lace between the rectangle and one of the hearts like this:

Heart Shaped Pin Cushion Tutorial

Carefully stitch all around the outside, wrapping the rectangle all the way around the heart. I’m using white thread so you can see what I’m doing:

Heart Shaped Pin Cushion Tutorial

Make sure that you pleat the lace as you sew so it goes around the curves of the heart. Trim the excess of the sides and stitch it shut. From the top it should look like this:

Heart Shaped Pin Cushion Tutorial

Now put the rose ribbon across the top in an “X” shape. In the photo below I accidentally put the top heart felt on first but it needs to go ribbon then felt on the very top otherwise it will be on the inside!

Heart Shaped Pin Cushion Tutorial

So stitch around the top heart leaving a couple of centimeters gap on one side.

Heart Shaped Pin Cushion Tutorial

Turn it inside out through the hole and it should puff up with the lace sticking up nicely. Fill it with stuffing!

Heart Shaped Pin Cushion Tutorial

Then you just need to stitch the hole closed and you’re all finished.

Heart Shaped Pin Cushion Tutorial

Done! Pretty cute.

Heart Shaped Pin Cushion Tutorial

You can use it as a regular pin cushion or to hold larger things you’re using like small scissors under the rose ribbon.

Heart Shaped Pin Cushion Tutorial

Took around 20 minutes to make and I’m sure if you did a better job than I did it would make a lovely present! ^_^
