Snapshots from Brisbane Pt1

I took a lot of photos when we went to Brisbane in December… I really mean A LOT. Like when I took out all the crap ones I still had 300+ that I liked and wanted to post *_* I cut it down again to around 175 so I’m going to split it up into two posts this weekend and just tell you about the funniest and most interesting parts! The rest of them (mostly just pretty stuff) will be uploaded to my Facebook page tomorrow if you want to go see what else we got up to!

So let’s get into it before I feel like adding even more photos haha!

I had delicious fudge for breakfast the day we left. I’m sure fudge is a food group right?

The bathroom toiletries at the airport get more hilarious every time I go back!VioletLeBeauxP1000966_1137 copy

I didn’t have much else to do on the plane because I was too sleepy to work so I entertained myself by taking photos of the pretty view.

VioletLeBeauxP1000985_1139 copyVioletLeBeauxP1000978_1138 copyVioletLeBeauxP1000995_1140 copy

I started illustrating Bergamot’s story on the way too but I didn’t get very far.

VioletLeBeauxP1010001_1140 copy

It was so cold that little ice crystals formed on the window, hilarious considering it’s the height of summer!

VioletLeBeauxP1010014_1142 copy

We arrived and went straight to James’ Dad’s golf store to do some work and have some lunch.

VioletLeBeauxP1010024_1143 copy

I spotted these cute polishes that came with diamante rings at a shop near by!

VioletLeBeauxP1010021_1142 copy

I can sniff out claw machines in any state!

VioletLeBeauxP1010028_1143 copy

I continued taking wanky artistic photos in our room 😀 Sepia makes everything look artistic!

VioletLeBeauxP1010055_1146 copy

Deep fried crumbed camembert for dinner=win!

VioletLeBeauxP1010062_1146 copy

While James enjoyed the Foxtel I spent my time taking photos of Bergamot with various creepy Christmas decorations.

VioletLeBeauxP1010077_1148 copy

Kris’ (James’ brother) friend Courtney made us cupcakes to eat on the drive up!

VioletLeBeauxP1010080_1148 copy

James ate them while wearing two hats for some reason.

VioletLeBeauxP1010081_1148 copy

We drove for ages to find his favorite burger place was closed down and turned into a fish shop. Much crying was done ;_;VioletLeBeauxP1010084_1149 copy

I found Bergamot a pretty necklace in the parking lot so it wasn’t a complete waste!

VioletLeBeauxP1010087_1149 copy

I also spotted the worst costume idea ever at Spotlight. “Going Snookz”?!

VioletLeBeauxP1010089_1149 copy

The drive up was long but we found ways to entertain ourselves… like this.

VioletLeBeauxP1010096_1150 copy

We stopped at some particularly scenic lookouts though pretty much every direction I turned looked something like this.

VioletLeBeauxP1010164_1157 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010168_1157 copy

I took more wanky sepia photos… like a lot of wanky sepia photos.

VioletLeBeauxP1010187_1159 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010202_1160 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010199_1160 copy

We drove to the wrong hotel and spotted a kookaburra who was waiting for his dinner. When we got back in the car to find the right hotel James was attacked by a grasshopper or some kind of bug, I screamed, he slammed on the breaks and we both got some pretty intense whiplash *_* WHY DOES NATURE HATE ME?!

VioletLeBeauxP1010189_1159 copy

Finally we made it to our cabin!

Ours was suspended above the trees on polls which freaked me out a little bit.

VioletLeBeauxP1010668_1207 copy

Did I mention that I took a lot of artistic photos? The roof of our cabin was very pretty.

VioletLeBeauxP1010687_1209 copy

The bed and spa looked directly out onto a view of the valley.

VioletLeBeauxP1010205_1161 copy

That night we went to James’ Dad’s birthday dinner, here’s the guest of honour!

VioletLeBeauxP1010207_1161 copy

SO MUCH DELICIOUS FOOD.

VioletLeBeauxP1010227_1163 copy

These table decorations show that even classy food cannot make James classy.

VioletLeBeauxP1010242_1164 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010270_1167 copy

James took my camera for most of the night and played around with the settings. Kris looks like he’s having a fantastic time XD

VioletLeBeauxP1010258_1166 copy

He also didn’t eat most of his food (other than the steak) preferring to make it into some kind of crazy monster smoking a carrot cigar. Yes.

VioletLeBeauxP1010280_1168 copy

Birthday boy doing his best to camwhore!

VioletLeBeauxP1010305_1171 copy

James and his Mum looking over some of the photos.

VioletLeBeauxP1010309_1171 copy

Poor Bergamot drank a bit too much wine and was seeing stars all night mwahahahaha…

VioletLeBeauxP1010310_1171 copy

When we got home to the cabin we sat around with Courtney and Kris talking and the lights suddenly turned off. As it turned out they cut the electricity for 6 hours to install a new transformer. We made do with our emergency candles!

VioletLeBeauxP1010314_1171 copy

The next morning we decided to give the spa a test out and had the most hilarious experience of the weekend *_*

VioletLeBeauxP1010316_1172 copy

Whoever had been there before us didn’t leave it particularly clean and there were dead bugs all over the spa, also spiders everywhere. James cleaned it out and we started to relax. After a while we turned on the bubble jets and the bubbles on top started to disappear… then I noticed the water was full of dead bugs and we were sitting in dead bug soup! IT WAS DISGUSTING! They had all come shooting out of the bubble jets *_* SO YUCKY, I think I’m scarred for life!

VioletLeBeauxP1010323_1172 copy

After that adventure I thought it best to stick to showers XD

VioletLeBeauxP1010330_1173 copy

The view was stunning though and it provided lots of fun opportunities for testing out the new camera.

VioletLeBeauxP1010338_1174 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010356_1176 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010350_1175 copy

James also spent most of this time with a camera glued to his face.

VioletLeBeauxP1010357_1176 copy

We explored Montville and it’s handicraft shops and I met the loveliest ladies who were making the items in the store.

VioletLeBeauxP1010388_1179 copy

The lady in the middle made the earrings I bought, so cute!

VioletLeBeauxP1010385_1179 copy

Flowers were in full bloom everywhere!

VioletLeBeauxP1010378_1178 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010411_1181 copy

Of course for some reason we were almost magnetically drawn to the candy shop in town, it was called “Fudgyboombahs” mwahaha!VioletLeBeauxP1010398_1180 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010399_1180 copy

They had SO many fudge varieties all with hilarious names.

VioletLeBeauxP1010401_1180 copy

We took quite a few varieties home and they were all delicious!

On the way to Mooloolaba we stopped to take the obligatory Montville tourist shots at the lookout. Of course it was raining so the view was completely obscured!

VioletLeBeauxP1010416_1182 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010418_1182 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010422_1182 copy

Such cute little houses!

VioletLeBeauxP1010432_1183 copy

We visited Underwater World for the first time since I was a kid and it hasn’t changed at all, I even remember half the exhibits! By this point in the day both of us were sooooo hungry so we had lunch there and I ate the WORST “gourmet” burger I’ve ever eaten. Seriously it was so dry I can’t even describe it.

VioletLeBeauxP1010436_1184 copy

We finished lunch just in time for the seal show, it was SO cool!

VioletLeBeauxP1010451_1185 copy

It had some hilariously adult jokes too XD They got a volunteer from the audience (who was totally working secretly for the show) and she got to feed the seal, then it was supposed to kiss her on the cheek but it pushed her in the water and stole her pants! The other seal was supposed to give her pants back but it kept sticking its head under water to sneak a peek instead! Dirty seals!

VioletLeBeauxP1010459_1186 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010475_1188 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010485_1189 copy

This one totally reminded me of Pilot from Farscape 😀 😀 😀

VioletLeBeauxP1010487_1189 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010486_1189 copy

This lobster had a really beautiful colourful shell…

VioletLeBeauxP1010489_1189 copy

But all I could think about was how delicious it would be 😀

VioletLeBeauxP1010515_1192 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010499_1190 copy

James’ favorite animals here (and at the zoo) were the otters, after seeing how cute and lazy these ones were sun baking I had to agree!VioletLeBeauxP1010519_1192 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010524_1192 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010530_1193 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010536_1194 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010538_1194 copy

Rub their tummies!!

VioletLeBeauxP1010540_1194 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010547_1195 copy

We got a private show from one of the seals who wanted some attention. She came right up to the barrier to pose!

VioletLeBeauxP1010562_1196 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010568_1197 copy

James and I had slightly different reactions to the shark teeth.

VioletLeBeauxP1010576_1198 copyVioletLeBeauxP1010579_1198 copy

But he was also childish as ever -_- It DID say “Canal Cruise”.

VioletLeBeauxP1010600_1200 copy

The storm as we drove on the way back was insane. It chased us all the way home but was so beautiful.

We had a pizza party that night in the cabins and James and I fell asleep pretty much as soon as our heads hit the pillow.  He did try to start a fire but that’s a story for tomorrow’s post. Part one finished and part two tomorrow! Hope you enjoyed as much as I did taking them 😀

Shirt: Vanity BoxSkirt: Valley GirlShoes: Present from CatBag: Christmas present from my Mum

Hair accessories: Present from BG Dino

VioletLeBeauxP1030747_1407 copy

It was so hot that night that all I wanted to do was stay inside and sit in front of the open fridge door. Instead we trekked all over the city watching various fireworks. I can’t wait to post the rest of the photos from this, it was such a pretty night, I’m so behind in Snapshots >_< Seriously in December I took over 1000 photos… and that’s with the terrible ones cut out!

VioletLeBeauxP1030743_1407 copy

My bag strap broke about 30 seconds after we took this photo so I had to carry it around by the mini handle all night, totally my luck!

VioletLeBeauxP1030742_1406 copy

Here’s the make up from that night too!

VioletLeBeauxP1030907_1423 copy

I’ve been wearing a lot of plum colours mixed with gold lately.

VioletLeBeauxP1030905_1423 copyVioletLeBeauxP1030906_1423 copy

Plum and white blended is my favorite. You can see my eyes closing more and more in these shots because it was so late at night, I fell asleep on the couch right after XD

VioletLeBeauxP1030904_1423 copy

I’ve been filming lots of hair videos so here’s a random shot of one of the looks I was doing, I make awesome faces while adjusting lighting 😀

VioletLeBeauxP1030608_1393 copy

This one was my Christmas Billy Idol Day outfit! The weather was going crazy from 35 degrees to raining every few hours so I wanted to be extra comfy. Of course my hair only lasted about as long as the tram ride!

VioletLeBeauxP1030023_1334 copy

Dress: Lizlisa

Cardigan: Ice

Scarf: Forever New

Shoes: Big W decorated by me

VioletLeBeauxP1030021_1334 copy

I’m so glad I dressed in layers, the heat was horrible for the first few hours but as soon as the rain hit my scarf and cardigan were perfect protection!

VioletLeBeauxP1030019_1334 copy

While I was digging around I found these old outfit shots I don’t think I ever posted too! Same shirt but two very different coordinations: skirt and shorts ^_^

Oh and speaking of Billy Idol day, I can’t resist sharing one of James’ gifts to me this year! He designed me a shirt with Billy Idol and my favorite litteral music video phrase 😀 😀 😀
LOVE!! I can’t wait to have this printed, I’m going to wear it all the time!

Bidol

Very related to shirt design, if you’re in Aus and you are creative do check out the competition Face Facts Tees is holding at the moment, it’s a campaign for educating young people on drug use consequences so I personally think it’s a very good cause and wish I was in the age group to enter myself!

Here’s the full information for those who want to enter:

Don’t miss your chance to win up to $2,000 cash, festival tickets and get your design on this year’s Ecstasy. Face Facts t-shirt for the National Drugs Campaign!

If you’re aged between 15-21, simply create an image that shows your support for an anti-drugs theme, including this year’s tagline “Ecstasy. Face Facts” somewhere on your design and upload it to our online gallery. The top designs as voted by you and your mates will be in the running for great prizes. So go on – get creative!

This is a wonderful way for Australia’s youth to hear an important message about the negative effects of ecstasy, paired with an amazing opportunity for aspiring designers and creative types to have their work used in a national campaign.  The competition will have two winners in different age groups:

•The winner in the 15-18yrs category will receive a $2,000 cash prize plus a $200 Moshtix voucher.

•The winner in the 19-21yrs category will receive a $2,000 cash prize plus a double pass to Creamfields Music Festival summer tour.

A runner up prize will also be awarded in each category.
Entries will appear online at the Face Facts Tees competition hub in a voting gallery accessed via http://www.facefactstees.com.au/. The winners will be chosen from the top 10 designs with the most public votes. Each winning design will be printed into a limited edition t-shirt to be distributed as part of this year’s Ecstasy. Face Facts campaign at Creamfields Music Festival, Rock the Schools and other media  outlets.

Check out the Face Facts site for more information, to enter or to see the other entries and vote!

Site Black Out – SOPA/PIPA

Just a heads up that tonight the site will be blacked out as a sign of protest towards SOPA/PIPA and all similar bills internationally.

I don’t normally talk about political things here but this is such an important situation that directly effects both this site and the internet at large.

While these bills are specifically American there have been similar censorship talks here in Aus and I believe that this is something that would effect everyone worldwide.

I have problems putting my thoughts together as eloquently as others do on this topic because it’s a difficult and complex issue. I think this video explains things quite well though.

I believe in copyright laws what I don’t believe in is vaguely worded laws which leave so much room for interpretation. Rules need to be clearly defined so people can follow them  and not able to be changed when it’s convenient. And I think having no recourse for site owners or expecting them to check EVERY single page in every single site they link for its content is absolutely ridiculous.

A while ago there was talk within Australia of an internet filter controlled by keywords. This isn’t one of those “oh it won’t effect me” things, if the government decided to block the word “lolita” for it’s negative connotations that would absolutely effect both myself and so many people I know. This kind of thing would have direct effects on sites I love and use every single day.

This is not the right way to do things.

Here is a list of sites with posts explaining things in more coherent detail:
