Mini Bow Hairstyle Tutorial and Beauty Stuff… Round Up!

So much happening this week it’s a bit crazy *_*

I have an unexpected trip to Sydney for a couple of days so I’ll be away a bit. Hopefully I’ll be allowed to video some of it but I’m waiting for confirmation, if not I’ll definitely post when the official stuff gets released!

It’s a week of new stuff launching too which is pretty exciting!

James has launched his etsy store finally with prints, I’ll do a proper post about that tomorrow with some of his photos, I’m really proud of him finally doing something he’s wanted to do for years!

I’m launching my etsy store this week too, I’ll be selling packs of new tutorials on top of the stuff that’s here. It’s been a lot of work to get ready but I’m quite pleased with how it’s all going and I hope you guys like it too. And there will also be Bergamots in the store FINALLY but not for another little while yet. In the mean time I will be putting up some smaller Bergamot themed items in the next few weeks too! So a post out that soon too hahaha!

Aaaand I’ll be launching a new Youtube channel this week too, one just for my V-Logs ^_^ That way if you prefer to just watch them, your inbox won’t be stuffed full of tutorials and vice versa. I’ll be celebrating it with a new video every day for the first week and then I’ll be updating weekly from then on. Surprise, there will be a post on it XD

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg, all the things I’ve been working on the last few months are finally coming together so I’m kind of running of excitement overload at the moment haha!

This week’s videos:

Torn Clay Flowers Tutorial – Quick Craft

Another very simple paper clay flower tutorial today. This one plays up with one of my favorite things about paper clay: it’s paper-ish tearing ability!

The end result is something along these lines with very ragged deconstructed edges.

This is the paper clay that I’m using, I want to try making my own but I found this for $3.50 at Tokuya the other day.VioletLeBeaux-clay-torn-rose-diy-75_1329 copySo start with a ball of clay.

VioletLeBeaux-clay-torn-rose-diy-76_1330 copy

Roll it out on a flat surface.

violetlebeaux-clay-torn-rose-diy-78_1330-copy

Tear off long strips of clay that are around 1-2cm wide. You’ll see that the clay has really ragged edges like roughly torn paper.

Strips:

Start by rolling an edge of one of the torn strips.

violetlebeaux-clay-torn-rose-diy-81_1330-copy

Continue rolling around so it forms the shape of a flower. I found that it felted the shape to pleat the strip every few cm because that flares out the “petals” a bit more. As you go around you might want to wet the strips slightly so they stick better and if you want to you can roll the bottom end between your fingers so it forms a stem.

All finished!

So there’s another variation on a regular rose ^_^ I think this one is more like a carnation.

Melbourne Snapshots! Rooftop Cinema

In December we finally got to do something I’d wanted to do for months: Rooftop Cinema!

Kim suggested we go ages ago and we had been waiting for a warmish night when something we actually wanted to see was on. The answer? LABYRINTH. So many shots of David Bowie’s crotch and none of us had actually seen it before! But I’m getting ahead of myself XD Here’s a pretty bike James saw on the way…VioletLeBeauxP1020634_1297 copy

We had tea and dinner at Hanaichi before the movie.

VioletLeBeauxP1020629_1297 copy

And did the exchanging of Christmas gifts, of course Kim’s were much better wrapped than mine ;_; Such cute packaging!

VioletLeBeauxP1020626_1296 copy

After that it was the LONG trek up to the top of the building for the movie.

VioletLeBeauxP1020640_1298 copy

The session was completely sold out so it was pretty busy, we decided to stake out our seats early so we had a good view.

VioletLeBeauxP1020642_1298 copyVioletLeBeauxP1020644_1298 copy

Tell you what, the view was pretty damn good!

VioletLeBeauxP1020647_1298 copy

There were rows of comfy deck-chairs and even though the forecast was fairly warm it got chilly very quickly

VioletLeBeauxP1020648_1299 copy

We of course were dressed for Summer >_<

VioletLeBeauxP1020649_1299 copyVioletLeBeauxP1020656_1299 copy

We were there so early that we sat around taking photos for quite a while before the movie started, everyone else was over at the bar XD

There was a burger stall next to the screen who delivered to your chairs, so cute! The fries we had were SO good.

VioletLeBeauxP1020683_1302 copyVioletLeBeauxP1020682_1302 copy

Obviously I can’t show you any of the movie but it was aaaawesome! We kept a tally of how many shots of David Bowie’s crotch there were. The first half of the movie was much more crotch heavy with 15 shots while the second half only had 4.

VioletLeBeauxP1020735_1305 copy

We were so cold though, at half time we rented some blankets to snuggle under but the wind just came right in the back of the chairs. I think I was an icicle by the time the movie was over.

The cinema was even prettier after dark though!

VioletLeBeauxP1020718_1304 copyVioletLeBeauxP1020724_1305 copy

So conclusion? Labyrinth is a hilariously awesome movie. I loved the rooftop cinema and definitely want to go again but next time I’ll wear warmer clothes and ignore the forecast XD

VioletLeBeauxP1020726_1305 copy

The pretty lights were still out on the way home too 😀

VioletLeBeauxP1020738_1306 copy

Oh hai there.

VioletLeBeauxP1030628_1395 copy

Skipping ahead in the timeline to New Year’s Eve!

VioletLeBeauxP1030741_1406 copy

James LOVES NYE, I’m pretty indifferent but I’ll go anywhere he likes so we usually do something involving watching fireworks!

VioletLeBeauxP1030754_1408 copy

We took a tram down to Docklands to see the 9:30 kids fireworks and it was completely packed. Of course the tram was like 15 minutes late so we got there half way through.

VioletLeBeauxP1030758_1408 copyVioletLeBeauxP1030761_1408 copy

Traditional kiss at 9:30 sounds so much lamer…

VioletLeBeauxP1030772_1409 copyVioletLeBeauxP1030770_1409 copyVioletLeBeauxP1030777_1410 copy

The harbour was so pretty even if the boats were all trying to outdo each other with their horns *_*

VioletLeBeauxP1030782_1410 copy

I take a lot of photos of the same thing but then I can’t decide which one is nicer… I need to get better at that.

VioletLeBeauxP1030783_1411 copy

But so pretty!

VioletLeBeauxP1030785_1411 copy

Docklands was packed but there wasn’t actually anything to do there so we left right after the fireworks. I don’t understand why places like this don’t have market stalls and things to actually do? Between the 9:30 and 12am fireworks the only other thing I could find there was a stage with terrible music.

VioletLeBeauxP1030789_1411 copy

So after that we came home for a bit then decided to walk to Southbank to see what they had.

VioletLeBeauxP1030795_1412 copy

There weren’t really any markets here either but they had my all time favorite busker playing! His name is George Kamikawa and he is so talented! It was a pleasure watching him until the late fireworks ^_^

VioletLeBeauxP1030800_1412 copy

There were a lot of people dancing out the front too, it was adorable!

VioletLeBeauxP1030812_1413 copy

The fireworks were a lot bigger here and we were right under one of the buildings so they were pretty loud!

VioletLeBeauxP1030835_1416 copyVioletLeBeauxP1030858_1418 copy

And this time we did the proper kiss at midnight but I was too busy filming to get photos haha!

VioletLeBeauxP1030866_1419 copy

So much fun! I really enjoyed both nights ^_^ Next year is my turn to think of something to do for NYE so I’ll have to find something suitably explody but with something fun for me to do too!
