Rock Style Ankle Boots Customisation

A couple of years ago I did a boot customisation. I took some gigantic boots and cut them down to be nice and fitted. You can see the original boots customisation tutorial over here.

It’s time for the sequel 😀 😀 😀

This time I took some poorly fitted weird boots my Mum was getting rid of and turned them into cute ankle boots!

I made these…

Out of these…

I love them now! Ok let’s get into it 😀DIY-Ankle-Boot-VioletLeBeaux-0072

Things I used:

  • Old boots
  • Faux fur trim from an old jacket hood
  • Chain and some charms
  • Felt
  • Needle and thread

So let’s get into it!

First I pulled up the cover part so I could see what I was dealing with. Easy enough, it was all fabric except for the bottom part which was faux leather.

DIY-Ankle-Boot-VioletLeBeaux-0039

So I cut off the top.

DIY-Ankle-Boot-VioletLeBeaux-0040

This was quite a cute shape but I had the idea in my head to make the front more the shape of a court shoe.

DIY-Ankle-Boot-VioletLeBeaux-0041

So I snipped it down into a “V” shape.

DIY-Ankle-Boot-VioletLeBeaux-0045

To finish off the raw edges I cut strips of black felt and stitched the around the edges.

They folded over to hide the edges.

Done:

Next I removed the faux fur trim around the old hood.

Done!

Then I stitched it around the edge of the shoe tops.

DIY-Ankle-Boot-VioletLeBeaux-0062

Then it was just about accessories!

DIY-Ankle-Boot-VioletLeBeaux-0037

I stitched two rows of chain coming from the fur.

Then added the crosses in. This is is much darker than my usual style but I really like it at the moment!

The charms are easily removable too so I could switch them out with something pinker later when the mood strikes me ^_^

DIY-Ankle-Boot-VioletLeBeaux-0067

DONE! It really didn’t take very long and it was quite fun to do.

Different from my usual style but very fun!

Now time to wear them!

Very Quick Basic Braid Hairstyle Tutorial

This is a really quick video on how I do basic braids. It’s not really that comprehensive but it’s the basics! I might do another one which is more detailed if anyone’s interested. .

Very Quick Basic Braid Hairstyle Instructions
Today I’ll show you how I do a basic braid.
This is easier to pick up if you already know how to plait.
This won’t be a comprehensive video, this is just a quick video to show the way I do it.
Brush your hair backwards.
Grab a small section at the top.
Divide into three even sections.
Plait it by taking the right section and placing it over the middle section.
Place the left section over the middle then.
Then the right section over the middle.
When you are about to plait the next section from the right, add to it by taking another small piece of hair on that side and including it with the original piece as you plait.
From this point, every time you move a section of hair to the other side, add a little more of the loose hair from that side.
Make sure the extra pieces you’re adding are nice and even so the finish is neat.
You’ll soon be able to see that it looks like a regular plait but with all of the side pieces added in.
I may do another one of these videos with some different camera angles as it’s a little hard to see what’s going on.
Difficult to film as fingers are always in the way.
The further down you go, the easier it is to see the pattern and understand what’s going on.
It’s good to try doing this on a friend before you try on yourself so you can see exactly what your fingers are doing and where they need to be.
Once there’s no more hair left to add in, you should plait down the rest of the way down.
You could also try a fishtail braid here for a more interesting finish.
My arms aren’t long enough so I have to do it around the side.
And that’s it, once you understand the basic mechanics of how the hair fits together it’s very easy to do all kinds of crazy braids.
I hope this was a useful video.

Thanks so much for watching!
Bye!

Short Nail Art And My Nail Growing Pledge!

Once every couple of years I go through a nail growing kick. If I don’t have acrylics I always have short nails. Partially because I have naturally weak nails, partially because I am terrible with fidgeting/biting them and partially because I hate the idea that when one of them breaks I have to get rid of all of them.

Ok the real reason is that I have no self control. Like at all. None. Not even a little bit.

But I really want to grow them out again. I thought maybe if I make myself accountable to all of you guys I might actually do it!! In fact if any of you guys want to grow out your nails too we could all be accountable to each other. We can share tips, blog about it and measure our progress etc 😀

So who’s with me?!

Leave me a comment if you want to join in and maybe we can do a weekly progress check. I can link any posts you make about it and do a heap of nail art too.

I’m going to grow them out starting right now, I’m feeling inspired!

As some more inspiration, here are some photos of nail art from the last time I grew out my nails. I was actually pretty successful so here’s hoping we can all do it this time!

They got to be around this length before one of them snapped and I cut them all off:

I’m totally on a mission now, no more biting, no more fiddling and no more poor cuticle care!

From now on only nail polish, hand cream and awesome looking fingers.

I think with all of us trying to do this together I can develop will power 😀 Leave me a comment if you’re going to take up the challenge too!!
