How To Do A Faux Short Ponytail Hairstyle – Photo Tutorial
Time for another hair tutorial. This week I’m doing a faux mini ponytail!
As usual, here is the video version of this style and the downloadable one is down the end!
I love having long hair but sometimes it’s nice to have short hair too. I don’t want to cut it so how can I have a little cute ponytail without the commitment of a cut? It’s actually pretty easy!
Start with putting your hair up into a high ponytail. Don’t pull the hair through the whole way on the last wrap of the elastic.
So it should make a little loop with the tail part around the front like this:
Now push the loop down on the back of your head so it sits flat. Pin it in place like this:
Now tease the ends of the hair a bit. This will prevent them from splitting later.
Pin the ends of the hair down just in front of the hairband to your head.
Fluff the hair out and add some hairspray.
Now flip the hair back over the loop and fan it out so it covers the bump properly. It should cover the whole loop and look just like a really fluffy mini ponytail! I like to add a bow to the front for a finishing touch.
Pretty cute and no commitment!
My hair being pink makes this look more obvious and harder to hide the bump, it looks a lot more natural when the hair is all the same colour XD Hope you enjoyed the tutorial and good luck if you give it a try! |

Watercolours and Fashion Illustration
Some more sketches and paintings? Yeaaaaah I think so!
I’ve been really interested in fashion illustration recently so my nightly paintings have reflected that.
Here are a couple of random dresses I designed just to have something to practice with:
These are a combination of watercolours and inks.
I absolutely love this purple ink, it’s so amazing. It makes me want to dig up all of my inks and paint with them too.
I also decided to do some fashion illustrations from famous designers to test my skills. This one is a Donna Karan piece from the Spring 2013 line.
These next two are from the Chanel 2013 Resort collection, the second and 4th in that photo. We were in a park recently to help with some filming and I had the hardest job: guarding the expensive camera equipment while sitting and eating chips… what? It was totally hard >_> So anyway I did a little landscape painting…
I also continued the series of texture studies with a few more of these paintings *_*
I like this colour combination a lot. I finally got myself a pink tube so no more tedious mixing for me! And lastly, here’s one of Lottie. I’m trying to learn how to draw dogs but for some reason I find them so hard! And here’s one more in which I was testing out some salt techniques. I think the effects are really cool! Hope you enjoyed, I’m going to buy a massive stack of paper and get some serious painting done in QLD next week. Also for those of you who asked me if I would sell any of these paintings, I thought about it for quite a while and I’ve decided to go ahead with selling both prints and originals. They will be added to my store when we get back from the coast so look forward to it! |
Outfits Of The Day- The Violet Triplets Part 2
You guys seemed to enjoy the Violet Triplets last week so after a lengthy conversation with my brain again I decided to post some more. This time the conversation was a little more ranty…
Violet: Time to write some posts again!
Brain: BUT I SPENT ALL DAY WRITING EMAILS!
Violet: Yeah… but you can’t just post about emails.
Brain: Y U NO BUY BRAIN PRETTY CLOTHES??
Violet: … we are on a shopping ban…
Brain: NO! PRETTY CLOTHES NOW! KTHXBI!
Violet: … No, writing posts now!
Brain: LOOK, I FIXED SENTENCE: “NO WRITING POSTS NOW!”. VIOLET BE CAREFUL WITH GRAMMER K?
Violet: -_________________-‘
Dress: One of my Mum’s dresses modified
Shirt: Thrift store
Shoes: Spendless
I love these shoes with a passion but they are the most uncomfortable things in the world. So bad!
Dress: 7 Angels I went for a bit of a vintage look this time. This dress I’ve had for a long time but I couldn’t think of a flattering way to wear it. The length is a little odd and the fit is very boxy. After adding a belt and styling it in a more 1920’s way I really liked it! Dress: Valley Girl I love this dress, so much so that I bought one in purple too XD It was on my shopping ban… but it was only $3.50… so it doesn’t count right? I am completely obsessed with the orange tights at the moment, it such a fun colour! Jeans: Valley girl, bleached to be pastel This outfit was part of my promise to try and wear all the things in my wardrobe that I never get around to wearing. I’m trying to force myself to clean out, if I can’t find a way to style it, it’s gone! Dress: Thrift store Dress: Mini Maos I wore this for a photo walk… that’s exactly what it sounds like: photographers walk around around and take photos. I was pretty out of place but James had fun! Shirt: Bergamot! I am so excited, the Bergamot merch store is going to be revamped and relaunched this week with some extremely cool things. Look forward to it! Shirt: 7 Angles The more of these I write, the more I notice patterns with my shopping habits XD This shot is from when we went berry picking. It was so much fun! I ate waaaay too many raspberries XD Dress: Modified from my Mum This was one of the first triplet shots I took! You guys can tell I’m pretty addicted to them… Brain: STOP WRITING… SHOPPING AND CHOCOLATE AND CHIPS AND BUENOS NOW! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!! Sorry guys, got to go >_> |
