How To Do Dior Cannage Nail Art

Time for some slightly more complicated nails! I’ve been really obsessed with Dior’s Cannage print recently. It is apparently based on the woven designs on Napoleon’s chairs. Tiny design? Sounds like a nail art challenge to me!

Anyway the design is very intricate and involves stripes horizontally, vertically and on both diagonals. This is my finished result:

So let’s learn the basic pattern in a bigger form before we get crazy fancy and tiny with it.

Keep in mind that you may find it easier to paint with if you water your acrylic paint down a little bit so it has a smoother consistency. Don’t worry about any bumps as the clear top coat will smooth it all out.

This version uses a slightly larger brush and features only one of the 8 sided patterns in the very middle. In the design below it, you can see one I did with a very small brush making the design smaller and more intricate.

Whether you go big or small it’s a really pretty design!

Hope you enjoyed and let me know if you give it a try!

Tullip Festival – Melbourne Snapshots

Before we went off to Switzerland we visited the Tesselaar Tulip Festival. Ultimate photo opportunity!

The problem with ultimate photo taking opportunities is that you turn around and your whole group looks like this. How epic are the poses Tobias makes while he shoots?

Celina and I tried making cute poses together…

But for some reason we just ended up looking like we were in a buddy cop movie.

Seriously epic posing.

This beautiful sun filled photo was unfortunately the only sun we got all day. The weather was TERRIBLE.

Melbourne-Tulip-Festival-262

It was freezing and muddy and after seeing the fields it started pouring rain so we had to leave. We thought we’d seen the whole festival but looking at the map later we noticed that the rest of the event was behind a hill which we hadn’t seen… we only ended up seeing 1/4 of it >_<

This is why you should read the maps they hand you on the way in people!

But on the plus side it was really fun and how pretty do the pictures look?

I’m trying to edit this so the entire post isn’t the same photo of flowers over and over again… but they all kind of look the same after a while.

I also discovered that my camera has a mode which adds sparkles.

This is me using that mode for it’s intended purpose ie. subtly :

Here is me abusing it to make glitter tulips >_>

This was the last shot before the rain started hammering down and we ran for the car! Poor PastViolet in the photo, you don’t even know how cold and wet you’re about to get!

All in all it was actually a really fun day out! It’s funny but even the most terrible Melbourne weather can be made better if you have great company! And next time I’m going to read the damn map!

New iPhone 5 Decoden Mirrors and Bling Design

Yet another new case for my iPhone after the last one cracked >_< On the plus side, new phone case means new deco yay!

Decoden-iPhone5-40

This design was the end result of a few art deco designs that I tried out before settling on something half way between traditional and traditional bling… if that makes any sense.

Decoden-iPhone5-36

There are rows of mirror glass in between rows of a deco lanyard from Daiso that I cut up. The padding of the lanyard makes sure that the very sharp edges of the glass aren’t within reach of fingers.

The main point of the deco is in the dangly heart chain and bow on the flower up top.

I added some little gems around it too so it was a bit more impressive.

I also made a matching wrist strap from the rest of the lanyard.

I love how reflective and shiny it is, easy to check your lipstick on the go 😉
