How To Do Simple Mermaid Nail Art – Tutorial
Yay more lazy day nail art!
This one was requested quite a bit after I posted it on instagram: Mermaid scales!
The key to this look is a really nice base coat of a reflective blue/green shade. This one is really old so I don’t know if it’s still available but anything that looks a bit sea-ish will work. Also, my new favourite thing ever: nail drying drops! They dry polish to the touch almost instantly and actually work! No more spoiled manicures!! Anyway, let’s get to it. Start with a base coat of the green and then mix some white acrylic paint with a drop of water so it’s a good thin consistency. Paint a small U shape at the cuticle on one side. Continue painting U shapes along the cuticle.
Start another row of U shapes above the first, this time alternate them so each one begins at the high point of the one under it. Continue making scales in rows like this until you run out of nail to do it on. Wait for it to dry then top coat! It doesn’t matter if your lines aren’t this thin or if you can only fit a few scales on each finger, so long as you get the general idea you should be fine!

DIY Painted Purse Make Over – Tutorial
Today’s craft is a mini purse make over. I wanted a little bag to take in my purse while we were traveling but nothing I had really went with the other stuff I was taking so I decided to give this bag a last minute make over. Why I always decide to do these things right before we leave I just don’t know… but yay for the end result anyway?
This was the old version. It used to have a deco Hello Kitty face on it but that fell off quite some time ago… quality craftsmanship! First I painted it white using acrylic paint.
Then I painted it pink using some fabric paint I had left over from another project.
Lastly I cut out the old zips and added in my own zip. It wasn’t quite long enough so I used ribbon to disguise the gap.
Bam! Way cuter. Probably not the smartest way to spend the day before you are supposed to leave on holidays but you know, I’m not that great at relaxing anyway.
Now that I know this method works I’m eyeing off some other old cosmetic bags I have… |
Snow White And The Evil Queen – Melbourne Snapshots
I found a bunch of photos of photos from an expedition that Celina, Tobias, James and I did to film her Snow White video. Behind the scenes for the win! Seriously, go watch that video btw, it is awesome!
I was standing in for the Evil Queen for the day.
So evil…
Mostly I took photos and painted while Celina filmed. I was testing out the new FujiFilm XF1 camera that day.
It was a great camera but the opening mechanism wasn’t so great and somehow all of my photos were erased when it froze so I couldn’t even finish the review ;_; Really cute and great quality photos though! I’m smiling here but I was crying when I discovered that all of my photos were gone later! I borrowed James’ camera so I could do some macro photography (this was before I had my own lens) of all the tiny bits of nature in the park. The deadly apple!
James and I have been eating a bit more healthily so we decided to try Vietnamese food, it was yummy! The healthy thing only lasts so long… french toast with white chocolate > : D The evenings have been beautiful, I love this time of year. It’s still weird to me that the sun goes down at like 9pm but I really enjoy walking in the evening. Oh Lottie, this isn’t your most flattering angle >_>
And I’ll leave you with the sleepiest puppy in the world. |
