For Celina’s birthday we went to Vue De Monde. Holy bajeebus was it fancy. Basically it’s known for being a bit avantgarde and experimental with food and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
It’s right at the top of the building and there are panoramic views of Melbourne like this everywhere you look. It was the fanciest place I’ve ever been and honestly I don’t know if I’ll ever get a chance to do something luxurious like this again so I was determined to enjoy every single moment of it. We were served several “snacks” before the degustation courses began… the snacks were almost a meal in themselves!
I’m not a food blogger and honestly I couldn’t tell you what was in most of the courses (even though it was explained in great detail to us all as we ate) but… look how pretty it all was!
The table was covered in rocks, sticks and naturish things. The interesting thing was that as the meal progressed every single one was used. Some of the rocks held knives, the sticks were used for cutlery holders and other things were used for serving, it was very cute!
There were so many edible flowers. I love edible flowers. I’m pretty sure it’s an osmosis thing, the more cute things you eat, the cuter you get 😛 I loved the cutlery, I want this in my house so much. This was totally cool, they made onion soup in a special coffee maker which sucked the liquid up to the top section. It was delicious! I really enjoyed tasting so many new flavours! The lovely birthday girl! One of my favourite dishes, it was made up of leaves and flowers which the servers poured liquid nitrogen over and we got to crush in a mortar and pestle then we added it to icecream. So much of a flavour punch! SO MUCH FOOD! By the end I was so full, we were there for over 4 hours of constant eating *_*
But there was still more food… desserts! It was probably good that we got to walk some of it off on the way home. Random tangent: I walked past this place and had to take a photo of the gigantic giraffe! I want to go back in daylight and see it properly now!
Anyway on the way out of Vue De Monde we were given a breakfast bag for the following day. It had locally produced honey, fresh bread, biscuits and muesli. Bee! It was a really delicious breakfast and a lovely thought. The bread was really sweet and delicious.
Epic experience over!! Now I just need to make this happen on a weekly basis XD |
