How To Make Your Own Reusable Make Up Pads

In an effort to cut some costs around the house and put more money into our house savings account I’ve been looking at all the little things to see where I can save some money.

Recycled-Face-Pads27

Today’s project is making some recyclable make up pads! They don’t cost that much but it’s good to save every little bit and also it’s good to recycle!

Recycled-Face-Pads15

I had a couple of ideas of what to make these out of but settled on polar fleece. I think I’m going to try to crochet some because the texture will be good to scrub with!

You need:

  • Polar fleece or your fabric of choice
  • Scissors
  • Cup
  • Pen
  • Sewing machine or needle and thread

Recycled-Face-Pads04

Start by tracing around the cup onto the polar fleece. You will need two circles per pad.

Recycled-Face-Pads05

If you want the finished pads to be really squishy and absorbant go with 3 circles each.

Recycled-Face-Pads09

Next take your circles and stack them. Use a zigzag stitch on your sewing machine and go all the way around the edge. If you are hand stitching then do a blanket stitch.

Recycled-Face-Pads10

Repeat for however many you need and that’s it! It’s such an easy project and they can be a lot softer on the skin than some of the cheaper disposable ones.

Recycled-Face-Pads12

So do they actually work as well?

Recycled-Face-Pads23

Answer appears to be yes!

Recycled-Face-Pads29

And when they’re dirty you just throw them in the washing machine. I think I’ll make 14 or so then I can alternate sets every week. And try out the crochet ones too and see if I prefer those!

Do you guys have any money saving tips I can try around the house? Savings for the win!

Zombie OOTD and How To Get Mermaid Hair Without A Crimper!

What a weird mix of videos this week XD

First up we have a Halloweenish Zombie video! It’s an Outfit Of The Day and the outfit is a little plain but there’s a Celina shaped Zombie in the background 😀 Seriously go check out her blog/channel because she’s got an awesome video on the make up!

And next is something slightly more… traditional? Mermaid waves! These were quite popular last year but I’m still seeing people wearing them especially in wig form. This version is quick and doesn’t require a crimper which is good!

And then here’s a vlog from the day we went to the pier to film some videos together!

Hope you all had a good weekend! ^_^

Kiss Nail Stickers

The lovely Seffie gave me these cute nail stickers so I decided to give them a try! They are thicker than some of the other stickers I’ve tried but they stuck a lot better too. It’s not really a full tutorial but I’ve been filming my nails as I grow them out slowly! .

Kiss nail art sticker instructions.
Kiss nails are another brand of those popular nail stickers.
Stick them on quickly, have a cute design for a while and then peel them off with very little effort.
Pick the closest fit for your nail, peel off the sticker.
Press on to the nail starting at the middle and smoothing outwards so there are no air bubbles.
The instructions say to rile off the excess but I found this to be very time consuming.
Instead I opted to snip the extra with some clippers then file the edge a little bit.
The 3D designs that come with these make them a little more interesting than some of the other nail stickers I’ve seen recently.
And that’s it, just repeat on every single nail.
So I think this is a great option for those who don’t have time to do their own nail art.
There’s no drying time which is great.
And there’s no chance of bumping it later.
And if you need to, you can easily just peel it off for school or work later with no fuss at all.
I hope this was a useful video, please check out the blog post linked in the description for more information and tutorials.
Thanks so much for watching.
Bye!

How To Secure a Silicone Keyboard Cover -Quick Craft

For my birthday earlier in the year my Dad gave me his old laptop. Very happy because it was was a big step up from my old laptop, Sophie! I named this one Turnip 😀 Aaanyway I decided not to make the same mistakes I did with my old laptop (not putting on a protector and never actually get around to decoing it). First step was to make the keyboard pink with a keyboard cover! I ordered mine from ebay for $1.50 but it didn’t quite fit, but for $1.50 I didn’t expect much XD

The cover:Violet-LeBeaux-Keyboard-Cover135And how it bubbled in the middle:

Violet-LeBeaux-Keyboard-Cover136
It fit when smooshed down but not just sitting on top like it was supposed to. Thin double sided tape to the rescue! Violet-LeBeaux-Keyboard-Cover138 Step #1. Wipe it down so there’s no dust. Violet-LeBeaux-Keyboard-Cover139 Step 2. Cut out small pieces and stick them down to the keys. You could do all of them but I just picked strategic keys. Violet-LeBeaux-Keyboard-Cover141 Step 3. Peel off the tape backing and then place the silicone cover over the top. Violet-LeBeaux-Keyboard-Cover144 Press each key into place. Violet-LeBeaux-Keyboard-Cover145 Done!! Violet-LeBeaux-Keyboard-Cover146 Cuter and also more protected! Now I just need to actually finish the deco around the lid >_< I swear I’ll finish it soon! Soooooooooooon!

Family Visits – Melbourne Snapshots

It’s another family trip snapshot post today!

Aww James and his Mum! Hi if you’re reading this!

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot01_21083

Some delicious pork from Kaneda.

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot05_21087

We wandered around Myer trying to find everyone and while James was trying to give directions over the phone, I was more concerned with photos XD

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot06_21088

While we were shopping for a jacket for James’ brother he spotted this mannequin who was in need of a belt.

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot08_21090

Then we spotted these expensive pants which literally had a piece of rope as a belt… seriously. I guess they might have helped the mannequin.

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot10_21092

This is my Dad getting to read my Bergamot book for the first time!

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot17_21099

Bergamot on my phone looked on XD

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot18_21100

Marionnettes like this creep me out.

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot20_21102

I saw this snoring prevention device… it’s a stick with a glove to punch your partner in the face with!

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot21_21103VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot22_21104

We had lunch at a super cute little cafe. I’m a sucker for anything with flowers.

They made really nice crepes.

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot36_21118

James tried out a racing game and he was doing really well until he crashed on the last lap (so he says…).VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot38_21120VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot42_21124

Now let’s get in some pretty architecture! This is the chandelier where Dad was staying.

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot43_21125

The city is having a lot of construction at the moment but I find building sites quite beautiful too.

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot45_21127

The Hyatt is possibly the ugliest building in the entire city, it’s bright gold, it reminds me of costume jewellery from the 1970’s.

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot50_21132

This one kind of reminds me of a highway with lots of cars on it.

VioletLeBeauxP1080792_21074

I feel like this restaurant wanted to be called “Kings of Thai” but that was taken so they just went with “Things of Thai” hahaha!VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot55_21137

This is the place that James’ family was staying, so pretty!

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot61_21143

I told James and Kris to look cool and this was the best they could come up with, really?

VioletLeBeauxP1080795_21077

That weekend I had the best cheesecake I’ve eaten in my entire life at Hopetoun. Normally their cakes have been kind of whatever but this cheesecake was so good, my mouth is actually watering again right now thinking about it.

VioletLeBeaux-Melbourne-Snapshot89_21200

I have to go now and dream about that cheesecake again.

Did you eat do anything good this week?
