Another nail polish swatching adventure today! If you read nail polish blogs you’ve probably seen the new Eyeko polishes everywhere. I figured this was as good a time as any to review and show you all of the Eyeko polishes in my collection.
Mostly I just wanted a little down time and swatching polishes is nice and relaxing!
Brand: Eyeko
From: Their website
Price: £8.50 per polish *EDIT* Sorry everyone! I miss-read the website, it’s actually £8.50 for a set of 3 or £3.50 each. My bad! */EDIT*
Volume: 8.5ml Ingredients: Ethyl acetate, Butyl acetate, Nitrocellulose, Adipic acid/neopentyl glycol/trimellitic anhydride copolymer, Isopropyl alcohol, Propyl acetate, Triphenyl phosphate, Trimethyl pentanyl diisobutyrate, n-Butyl alcohol, Stearalkonium hectorite, Diacetone alcohol, Dimethicone, Citric acid, Benzophenone-1. May Contain: CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 15850 (D&C Red No.6), CI 77499, CI 77491 (Iron Oxides), CI 77510 (Ferric Ferrocyanide), CI 77000(Aluminum Powder), CI 19140 (FD&C Yellow No.5), Calcium Aluminum , Borosilicate, Silica, Polyethylene terephthalate. Bottle: Tall round thin bottles. Look good but not as easy to store as square bottles. Brush: Average size, flexible. Drying Time: Roughly the same for all of them. Not ridiculously long but nothing to write home about. Colour Name: Chi Chi Description: Pink glitter in a milky pink base. Thoughts: Quite an interesting pink the milky base is very sheer but after 3 coats it’s nearly opaque from the weight of the glitter. I think this is probably my favorite of the bunch. Good for: -Layering -Small accents eg. French tips etc Bad for: -Being Opaque Colour Name: Saucy Description: Red with an orangey base. Thoughts: Fairly standard bright red. Pretty, shiny and opaque in 1 coat. Good for: -Bright fun summery manicures -Good red for vintage-ish mani’s too -Very opaque so possibly good for Konading Bad for: -Anything you don’t want to be completely in your face with colour Excuse the stripe in the photo below, I managed to get a hair on it while drying >_< Colour Name: Punk Description: Neon pink. Thoughts: This was an odd one for me, I’m not sure if it was just the bottle I got but it’s a slightly different colour than I was expecting. Very very matte, no shine to it at all. Good for: -Insanely bright mani’s -Probably good for Konad as it’s very opaque Bad for: -Not burning your eyes out with it’s insane brightness -Being subtle Colour Name: Rain Description: Light opaque blue/grey. Thoughts: Actually a really interesting colour. Very odd combination between blue and grey, I think the name pretty accurately describes it! Good for: -Nail art, good consistency to use with a small brush -Rain clouds etc… anything gloomy -Work safe designs Bad for: -Cheery bright designs Colour Name: Lilac Description: Pretty much what the name says… Lilac. Thoughts: I really like the packaging on this one! The polish itself is a nice glossy flattering colour suitable for crazy nail art but also more subdued work friendly things. Good for: -Work friendly mani’s -Macaron nail art etc Bad for: -Anything with a big oomf. -Probably not good with konad as the first coat is a little weak. Colour Name: Nude Description: Tan opaque polish. Thoughts: Meh, there’s nothing actually wrong with the polish, it applies well and dries glossy… but I just don’t like it because I find tan so boring. Good for: -Work safe stuff I suppose -Leopard print… Bad for: -Exciting-ness… Colour Name: Purple Description: Nice matte reddish purple. Thoughts: I have a soft spot for matte purples, I don’t know why but I just love them. This one is no different, it is quite an interesting one because it layers really well for 3 distinct colours. Good for: -Versatility -Using as a matte base and adding glitter Bad for: -Can’t think of anything. Colour Name: Coral Description: Bright red polish, light pinky tones. Thoughts: This is a very similar colour to the Saucy polish from earlier but this one is lighter and more… red. In the bottle it looks more orangy but when applied I thought it was on the pinker side. Good for: -More bright manicures. -Again probably good for Konading as it’s very opaque Bad for: -Non-bright designs (duh) Colour Name: Vintage Description: Mint green, shiny and opaque. Thoughts: Another nice shiny opaque colour. This one reminds me of the green/pink striped colours in an old fashioned malt shop. Or maybe an old fashioned dentist. Good for: -Nail art like leaves etc, very opaque and good consistency. Bad for: -Using on it’s own, I think a whole polish design in this shade might be a bit odd because it’s kind of a washed out colour. Colour Name: Tea Rose Description: Dark pink glossy polish. Thoughts: This one dries a lot more darkly than in the bottle. Very nice colour and not a shade I’ve seen very often. Good for: -Work safe manicures -Natural but interesting designs Bad for: -Out there/unnatural designs. Colour Name: Posh Description: Medium brown for “ladylike” nails. Thoughts: Again there wasn’t anything actually wrong with this polish but I just am not a fan of browns like this… they look so boring to me! Also I have no idea how this colour is for posh nails but that’s just me XD Good for: -Ummmm… More leopard print? Bad for: -Cutesy sweet designs. I can’t find the photo of the 3 layered swatch I took so you will have to use your imagination. Pretty much it was opaque in 1 coat. Overall I quite like the quality of Eyeko polishes, though considering the size of the bottle I think they are quite expensive. Some of the colours they come product are quite original. Very nice. |
