ACEO Friday! And weekend plans :D

Ah this little ACEO doodle is how I am feeling right now!

You know those days that just draaaaag on? The main difference between me an the cute little Lolita above is that I have a packet of Timtams next to me. Who ever invented Timtams needs a medal. Or a commendation from the Queen. I wonder if the Queen eats Timtams with her tea? I like to think she does! I bet she has an unlimited supply too. Damn lucky Queen.

To distract myself I’ve been thinking about what I’m planning for this weekend…

  • Trying to finish the new Blue Crane Design website… which is what I’m doing now.
  • Decide on a design to deco my new phone case.
  • Photos for 2 hair tutorials- hot rollers and kitty rolls
  • Dye hair (if I have time to do the above tutorials!)
  • Start next website for work.
  • Try to physically leave the house and go shopping!
  • Do something crafty
  • Sleep for a decent amount of time
  • Download a bunch of new iphone apps to play with and find a cute screen saver
  • Do at least 5 more lessons of Japanese coach, write 2 entries on Lang 8 and try to learn some more kanji
  • Do my nails for guest post at Lisa’s blog

Well that’s a pretty full weekend, I better get back to work so I can start enjoying it tonight!

What are you guys going to be up to? Have any of you made ACEOs recently?

New Nail Art Leopard Print

Hello again, I thought you might like to see my new nail art ^_^

Firstly I want to say thank you for the overwhelming response to my last post! You are all very sweet and your lovely comments really made my week! You guys all rock!

But down to business… I bet you were all wondering what kind of design I had on my nails in those pictures…

Well here they are in all their glory!

I am insanely happy with how these ones turned out, I was inspired by this post by the lovely Brooke. When it’s done in a tasteful way I LOVE leopard print.

I did a base coat of a no-name orange from Cosmetics Plus, it has a beautiful metallic gold shimmer in it but I was worried that it would be lost amongst the other colours. So my solution was to use the leopard print Konad stamp in gold first and then Black over the top, the result has a lot more depth than the plain orange.

I added some red and orange diamantes with a gold diamante bow and top coated it. These photos really don’t do it justice, it’ so shiny and beautiful in the sun!

Bonus shot: After lunch on Sunday James and his Dad had to take some computer parts and an old giant tv to the rubbish dump. I had never been to a dump so I decided to tag along! It was actually quite surprising, not as dirty as I expected though I did get a lot of strange looks from the other people as they were mostly tradies dumping junk from utes! I suppose they don’t get many hime gyaru in the dump! XD

Don’t worry both me and my dress have been thoroughly cleaned! ๐Ÿ˜‰

What’s the most adventurous place you’ve been lately? Have you guys had any fun nail art lately?

How to Turn $10 into about $700 Hime Gyaru Dress Style… Nuffnang Comp Entry!

This is the story of how I made a Hime Gyaru style dress for $10.

Ok ok ok ok ok ok so you were all waiting on the edge of your seats for this post right? I’ve received a surprising number of messages from you all desperate to know what I did… well here it is!

In my previous post I mentioned this competition at my advertising company Nuffnang (who rock). The general jist of the competition is that they sent us all a $10 Coles Myer Gift voucher and the blogger who spends it in the most creative or frugal way wins a voucher for $100.

Here is the story of what I did…

One night I was busy dreaming about how much I love clothes that make me feel like a princess. I love Hime Gyaru fashion and most of all I love Jesus Diamante clothing… but it’s notoriously expensive ;_; Dresses can cost as much as $1000 which a poor little graphic designer like me just can’t afford…

But as I awoke I came up with a brilliant idea!

So I put on my favorite outfit and headed off to the shops with James to use my $10 voucher on what I needed….

I went everywhere looking for what I wanted. I visited Kmart and Target but there was nothing in my price range *_* I consoled myself with yummy pancakes filled with caramel… But alas I couldn’t find it… so after a long day shopping we went home for a nap. I was very disheartened but James convinced me to try again and visit Coles later that night… also we didn’t have any food in the house and needed to find something for dinner but that’s beside the point!

Lo and behold I got exactly what I needed! I bet you’re all about to burst from holding your breath about what I bought… TAADAAA!!

2 pink flannelet pillow cases and 1 cream scarf. Wait not what you expected? Well keep reading!

And it even came to $9.98 so I have 2 more cents to spend at Coles XD

Now let’s get to work… I took everything up to my sewing room and unpicked all of the seams in the pillow cases. Now I have 2 large pieces of pink fabric and 1 cream scarf.

I made up a pattern and cut up the pieces. I made sure to keep all of the scraps in case I need them later. I gathered and sewed the skirt piece onto the cream belt and pink bodice, I overlocked each seam to make it cleaner and more hard wearing.

Then I found a piece of lace and finished the bottom seams. I gathered the top of the bodice to make a sweetheart neckline. lt=”” id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5373387288188375186″ border=”0″ />Next I added some darts to the bust area to it fit nice and snugly. After that I added two small straps to hold it up. These were made from the scraps of pillow case.

I have been in love with all of the 50’s inspired boat neck dresses Jesus Diamante have been coming out with lately so I made my own interpretation with the remaining pieces of the scarf…

I used the fringe ends of the scarf and a scrap of pillow case to make a little pin as an accessory… And TAADAA! I turned $9.98 worth of pillow cases and scarf into a dress!

I bet you all want to see what it looks like on right? It sure isn’t “One Size Fits All” anymore!

Add some beautiful accessories and you’ve got a pretty Hime style summer dress!

I wore it to James’ family lunch yesterday and it was a big hit! I got many compliments even before they all knew what it was made from ^_^

We took all the chairs and tables outside in their garden to have a delicious feast! Very French and perfect for summer. The garden was the perfect backdrop for some photos, everything was so green!

James keeps his classic 1963 Valiant Regal car at his parent’s house because there is no room for it in our place! I’ll post some proper photos of it another day because it’s really pretty, but the star of today’s post is my dress!

Before lunch was ready James and I played around in the garden and took some photos, there were lots of gross bugs everywhere! You can’t really tell in this photo but I’m standing on a stump which is very unstable! Don’t get the dress dirty it’s so expensive I might not be about to afford to replace it!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I decided that this was the perfect garden party dress! I have to say I’m very happy with how it turned out ๐Ÿ˜€

Say hello to everyone guys! This was desert and boy was it yummy!

And so that is the story of how I turned $10 at Coles into some pillow cases and a scarf and then into a cute dress ^_^

What do you think? Pretty close but with my own spin? For the record I know that brand replica’s are illegal and morally wrong, this is merely my own spin on the fashions that inspire me!

Jesus Diamante (Probably around$700) and me ($9.98)

Nuffnang! Please give me the $100 voucher and fill up the rest of my wardrobe!

Creative right? ๐Ÿ˜›

So what do you guys think?

P.s. Anyone who wants to nominate me for the Nuffnang blogger awards is full of win and awesome and I’ll love you forever!

Hope you enjoyed the mini Hime Gyaru tutorial ๐Ÿ˜‰

Outfit of the Day and Presents from Nuffnang

As a lot of you would know I’m withย Nuffnangย for my blog advertising and I love them to death!

Who doesn’t like getting presents right? As well as organizing my advertising they have also built a community for bloggers which I love being a part of. It’s kind of like a big family and because they are based here in the Asia Pacific area it’s not like talking to someone on the other side of the world!

And they send me presents which rocks!

Outfit- Skirt and jacket: Angelic Pretty Stockings- Myer Beret- Portmans Shoes- some place in the City, customized

Hmm it feels very heavy! I wonder what’s inside it? Open it up and all the Nuffy goodness pours out!

First thing to come out is a $10 Coles Myer gift voucher! Yaaay! Nuffnang is having a competition at the moment where the blogger who spends this voucher in the most creative or frugal way wins a $100 voucher, I have an awesome idea which I’m going to try out tomorrow so wish me luck!

And a lovely letter welcoming me to the Nuffnang family ๐Ÿ˜€

Guess what? I designed that little guy in the corner of the letter! How cute is it that they actually used my silly sketch on their letterhead ^_^

Now the rest of the awesome stuff… This is a sample pack of Redken hair supplies for girls! How cool is it that the samples are actually in usable sizes instead of those stupid little packets? I’m going to try it out and let you know how it works on my hair!

And there is a bottle of Blackberry/Vanilla tea from Spring Valley and John West Tuna with Beans. The tea was super yummy! I haven’t tried the tuna yet, I think I might let James have it because he’s a big fan of beans ^_^

And something which will be important later on in this post… a matching pack of Redken hair supplies for boys! Big sample sizes and information books in this one too ๐Ÿ˜€ Also there is a packet of Leggo’s Italian Beef Casserole base thingy which will be my dinner tonight! Thank you Nuffnang for feeding me for a day ^_^

Taadaa! All of the fun stuff together!

I mentioned that Nuffnang is having a competition with who can spend their Coles Myer voucher in the most creative/frugal way so I decided to put my thinking cap on and come up with something fun to do with it… Did I not mention that my thinking cap is actually the box that my items came in?

Then I decided that instead of entering that competition I would make up my own… May I present “THE MOST CREATIVE USE OF PACKAGING”

I fashioned the tissue paper the presents were wrapped in into a beautiful gigantic bow!

Super adorable and attractive right? I totally deserve a special prize for creativity and cuteness! Got to make sure it’s straight! Don’t worry I’m going to go buy my actually competition entry tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜›

Now if you remember I mentioned before you should take notice of the men’s hair products from Redken… I decided to experiment with them on James! He wasn’t so keen on the idea especially seeing as he shaves his head. I said too bad! After chasing him around the room for 10 minutes I finally pinned him down ๐Ÿ˜€

Apparently it was very cold ^_^ It smelled delicious though!

Make sure to rub it in well, lather rinse and repeat! Poor sad James he looks so miserable… oh well!

He was only sad for a minute though because then this happened…..

Giant afro hair of doom! Very suave! I’m sure I’ll be fighting all the ladies off him with a stick XD

Anyway if you guys were wondering how to get one of these gift baskets for yourselves, all you have to do is sign up with Nuffnang and they’ll send one out! Here is the link to register, make sure to put my URL in as the “Referred By URL” if you end up joining ^_^

Well I’m off to enjoy my Casserole thingy for dinner now ๐Ÿ˜€

What’s the coolest free thing you guys have every got/won? Are you signed up with Nuffnang?

Poupee Girl Changes- The Jewel System

Well a lot of you guys are my friends on Poupee Girl so I thought I’d have a talk about the new Jewel system that they’re implementing now.

If you want to know what poupee girl is have a look at my original post here.

So Katherine announced the other day that they are going to being a new campaign called Jewels.

What is it?
-Poupee has a currency of ribbons, you can earn ribbons to buy cute clothes for your Poupee at the market and at special events at Katherine’s shop. About a year or so ago they put in a new feature where you could buy ribbons. The basic idea with jewels is that now instead of being able to buy ribbons you will be able to buy jewels, a second currency.

So? What do jewels get me?
Well the only thing you can do with jewels is buy clothes at the special Jewel floor of Katherine’s shop.

And what’s the point of this?
Well judging by the current trend they are now only going to release the cutest items on the special floor of Katherine’s store. So what it boils down to is that if you want the super cute items you’ll have to spend real money and buy jewels. It also seems you won’t be able to use your jewels to buy anything other than the special items.

Apparently several other free to play webgames have gone the same way as Poupee and are more and more often implementing pay to play parts of the site. I am in no way against the creators and people who work on the site making money, they totally deserve it with the cool games they create… but I think there are much better ways to do things than this. Firstly Poupee is already full of subtle advertising, every time you leave a comment there is fine print advertising underneath. Not the mention the special even sales at Katherine’s shop which link to real world items. More special events please!

So what do other users think? Is this going to change the way you play Poupee Girl?
