Pink Ardell Star False Eye Lashes Review

I was so excited to receive these lashes from the lovely She Falls Softly! I love pink, I love lashes so combining the two is the ultimate in awesomeness!!

Ardell Pink Lashes Review

They are 1/2 length and meant to be used as a little accent at the end of your lashes. They have a clear band which I found to be good as it was easy to disguise. The only problem with the band I found was that it was a little shiny so I had to disguise it a little with a little eyeliner to match it in with the rest of my look.

Ardell Pink Lashes Review

They were a bit long for my natural lashes so I layered them with another set of mostly natural looking falsies for a really cute effect. James thought they looked really subtle but I got maybe 4 random compliments for strangers on them that day so clearly they stand out a bit!

I wore them with fairly subdued make up and my hair in a low side bun. I added a pink streak to my hair to tie it all together and finished with a little white flower handmade by Reece.

Ardell Pink Lashes Review

VERDICT: Soft, pretty and good quality. Very good for an added point of interest in an outfit. Not sure where you can buy them or the price but DO WANT.

Felt Crafting Again- Yummy Tart ^_^

First thing!

Lately lots of people have been asking me questions about blogging so I will now be holding a weekly “Ask Violet” session. If you have a question about blogging you would like to ask me just click here to submit it.

Secondly!

I’ve been a little stressed out with work and a whole lot of other stuff lately so I haven’t been doing as many crafts because I just haven’t had time. This weekend I am going to take both days off to de-stress and craft. Expect a whole lot of tutorials coming from that! One (just to tease you :P) will be about making a cupcake tier thingy out of household objects ^_^

Thirdly!

In the mean time I’m going to show you how I made the last of my felt foodie things from Retro Jet Girl!

The delicious tart thingy ๐Ÿ˜€

Felt Tart

This is another one of the kits ^_^

Obviously again I canโ€™t take any credit for making this tutorial because I was just following their instructions. Full credit goes to the original company but I took photos while I was making it because I thought you might find it interesting anyway ^_^ You can find most of the materials around the house and you can easily substitute anything you like.

Felt Tart

This is the most complicated one of those I’ve done so far because there are so many pieces!

So you need:

  • 2 brown triangles with curved edge
  • 1 smaller yellow triangle with curved edge
  • 2 white triangles with curved edge
  • cardboard triangle with curved edge
  • 2 red semi circles
  • 2 small white semi circles
  • 3 green semi circles
  • 4 white tear shapes
  • stuffing
  • thread/scissors/needle etc

Felt Tart

Blanket stitch the yellow and white triangles together.

Felt Tart

Then sandwich the cardboard between the brown triangles. The hole is there to stick a magnet in but I wanted to keep my options for use open so I left it.

Felt Tart

Sit the two pieces you’ve made on top of each other like this:

Felt Tart

Stitch them together, once you get to the back you need to hold it at an angle while you stitch. This makes the crust ^_^

Felt Tart

Taadaa…

Felt Tart

Now let’s make the top bits ^_^

Stack the white tears on top of each other. Running stitch through them all…

Felt Tart

Fan them out into a dollop of cream and stitch again!

Felt Tart

Now set that to the side and make the strawberries. Stitch some seeds with white thread onto the red semi circles.

Felt Tart

Fold in half and blanket stitch up the side.

Felt Tart

Flip it inside out and add stuffing.

Felt Tart

Stitch the hole closed. Repeat for the other one too ^_^

Felt Tart

Kiwi slice time! Stitch the white semi circles onto two of the green ones like this:

Felt Tart

Add some little black dots for seeds!

Felt Tart

Now stack them and stitch together!

Felt Tart

Add them all together and you’re all finished! Good enough to eat yes?

Felt Tart

What have you got planned for the weekend? I’m so looking forward to my time off!!

Maybelline Eye Studio Review

I don’t usually like brown tones… in anything. It just never appealed to me so I was kind of meh when I saw the Maybelline palette that came in the MBBE bags:

MBBE

It was very… brown. I’ve never really tried brown tones because I didn’t think they suited my skin at all but these colours were so sparkly that I decided to give it a go for once!

This was the result:

Here I am wearing each of the colours in the palette with some dark brown eyeliner and mascara:

Maybelline Eye Studio Review

You know what… I actually really liked it! I think the reason is that they are all a little sparkly and more metallic than your usual browns. With the dark brown liner it reminds me a lot of a 60’s look ^_^

Maybelline Eye Studio Review

As for the quality, it went on very smoothly, stayed on pretty much all day and blended awesomely. I don’t think you can really ask for much more than that from eye shadow!! The colours were super complimentary and I would love to see some of the other colours from this line.

At AU$16.95 the price is about what I would expect from a “drug store brand” here.

Maybelline Eye Studio Review

VERDICT: Quality is really good, price is good, overall… really good! DO WANT

Bonus shot: I bought myself half a wheel of brie as a treat! WIN !! Oh yes of course I would use it as a gigantic smiley mouth! ๐Ÿ˜€

So what do you think? Browns yay or nay?

Bathroom Organisation Tips :D

I’ve been on a mad organizing kick lately. On this scale, I am at the point of “Clean ALL the things!”. It won’t last but while I’m on the rampage I’m making the most of it and trying to tame my bathroom.

Before we moved to this apartment our bathroom was huge, before that house I had 2 bathrooms… so space was never really an issue! Now space is a premium so I have to be smarter, which is good for me because I tend to accumulate junk.

Nice clean pristine hotel-like bathroom before all my junk took it over:

First thing’s first. Eyelashes!

I store my lashes in a two layered cakewhich has room for 16 pairs. I am bad with throwing away lashes because until recently they were quite expensive here. Also when they come apart I like to use the individual lashes for other things like to accent the corners of my eyes or layer them.So problem: too many old crappy lashes.

Make Up Tips Tutorials

Solution:

Wash and clean off any dirt with make up remover. If the lashes have lost their shape, put them in very warm water and carefully bend back into shape.

Make Up Tips Tutorials

Sort them all into pairs. Throw away anything that is broken, too damaged, un-cleanable or useless.

Clean out your storage area with damp paper towel and after it’s dry store them away again. DONE!

Make Up Tips Tutorials

Problem:

Too many crappy shades of eyeshadow that I’m never ever going to use taking up space.

Solution:

Mixing and matching my own colours! For example, I have an unnatural number of blues and yellows in my collection. I really only need a couple of them… so I crushed them up and mixed them into green which I wear all the time.

After…

Also… I’m almost out of purple but I have lots of red/blue/white! So before:

Super fun to experiment with colours and if you don’t like the end result it’s a good excuse to chuck out colours you’ll never wear anyway ๐Ÿ˜€

Problem:

I need some place to store lip sticks and glosses that isn’t just the shove-in-a-drawer solution. I hate not being able to find what I need at a glance. So I found this little wooden box that came with some bath salts I bought back when we had a bath and set to work with it using the same roses I’ve been painting on everything lately XD

I added a stripe of lace using a glue gun so the lip glosses didn’t slide out ^_^

Very useful and easy to see everything!

Make Up Tips Tutorials

Last problem for the day:

I can’t get any more lip gloss out of my favorite with the wand thing but I can see there’s lots more in there!

Make Up Tips Tutorials

Solution:

This trick is an old one but just cut the sucker open and scoop it all into something else!

Make Up Tips Tutorials

Even though I couldn’t get any out with the wand there was still this much left in my favorite gloss…

Make Up Tips Tutorials

So that was what I managed in a night, once I’m finished over-hauling the bathroom I’ll make sure to take some photos of it all for you ๐Ÿ˜€
