Nail decals are a fantastic way to jazz up plain nails while expending minimum effort.
I love them because they mean you can have beautiful nails no matter what your skill set.
Start with clean bare nails and paint a base colour.
Glitters look awesome under decals and you’ll find light colours provide the best results.
Wait until it’s completely dry.
I am using decals from inspirednails.com they are the very thin kind.
Pick the size of the decal which will cover your entire nail.
Cut out the decal.
Trim the edges to fit your nail and the bottom to fit the cuticle.
Lay it over the nail to make sure it fits.
Submerge the decal in water for around 10 seconds until it’s soaked.
Put it on your finger, decal side down and slide the wet paper off.
Press it down on your nail and smooth it over.
Don’t worry about the over hang for now, just smooth it down.
Coat the whole nail with clear polish.
Once it’s dry, use a nail file to file downwards on the edge to remove the over hang.
If you need to, you can remove extra with tweezers.
Looking good!
Add another coat of clear polish and you’re finished.
Very pretty and very easy to do.
The possibilities are endless.
You can buy these and other decals from inspirednails.com

False nails are a great alternative for those who want long nails without the effort.
This is how I apply mine.
Start with clean dry nails.
Lightly buff the shine off them.
Don’t buff too hard.
Choose the correct size nail and snap it from the frame.
The correct size will cover the entire natural nail.
Carefully file any rough edges from the tips.
Grab your nail glue, I like the kind with a brush for easy application.
Apply glue over the entire nail surface.
Don’t get it on your skin.
Line the nail at your cuticle and ease it down onto the rest of your hair.
Apply pressure firmly for 10-20 seconds.
Tadaa!
Repeat on the rest of your nails for the finished look.
I love these nails because they were custom designed with my monogram.

Today’s video is a quick tutorial n how to do some simple lacy nail art.
I love silver and pink together so this is a fun combination.
First step, you need to lay down a base colour.
I am using a very light pink.
You may need a couple of coats to make it completely opaque.
Clean up around the edges by using a cuticle stick with a little bit of polish remover soaked cotton wrapped around the end.
Now it’s time to add the design.
I am using a bright pink Essence nail art polish.
Whatever polish you use, you will find it easier to use a long striping brush like this.
Load the brush with polish.
Lay it diagonally across the nail and draf upwards so it forms a stripe like this.
You might need to touch up the end if you didn’t have enough polish to do it first go.
Next load your brush with silver, again I’m using some from Essence.
using the same technique, drag the brush across to create a thicker silver line below the pink one.
Now add little semi-circles along the bottom of the silver line.
You may find it easier to use a small nail art brush if you can’t control the long brush properly.
Now add another small diagonal silver stripe to the top corner.
The next step is to create the lattice pattern at the top so paint a couple of horizontal stripes between the top silver line and the pink one.
Then add the same amount going the other way.
Add one more pink stripe above the top silver one.
If you want you could also fill tin the rest of the top with the pink for extra pop.
Lastly, to tie it all together, place small pink dots following the lines of the silver bumps.
Done! Very pretty but not too over the top.
So now it’s just a matter of painting all of your other nails to match.
While waiting for the polish to dry I practice my awesome TapTap Revenge moves.
Without all of the speeding up, I think this hand took me around 15 minutes to do, not including waiting for the polish to dry initially so this is a style which you could do before a night out of special occasion.
Striping quickly and neatly takes a bit of practice.
My biggest tip would be to rest your hand on something and move the nail rather than the brush.
Doing all of these little lace loopy parts really is much easier and more precise if you use a short thin nail brush but oh well.
Of course this is much more interesting when you’re doing it on yourself rather than watching me.
The little dots can be easier to make perfectly even if you use a dotting tool or the end of a match stick.
And there you have it. Nailed it! haha Ok sorry that was a james joke.
I hope this was a useful video, please check out the blog post linked in the description for more information and tutorials.
Thanks so much for watching.

Easy Leopard Print Nailart Photo Tutorial

So remember that leopard print nail art I was talking about when I reviewed Molten Metalics from Face of Australia? I actually got around to doing it! No, it’s not particularly original and I’ve done the same pattern a bajillion times but it’s still hard to not look at in the sunlight!
I’ve previously done a video tutorial on leopard print but some people have trouble following videos so here’s a nice easy quick photo tutorial of the steps.

violetlebeauxdsc_0323_1841

What you need:

  • 3 colours of polish
  • Thin brush
  • Clear topcoat

VioletLeBeauxDSC_0312_1830

I’m using false nails, these were the only ones I had left in my stash and they weren’t quite the correct size or the shape I prefer unfortunately. Kind of makes me want to grow out my natural nails again or get awesome glitter acrylics but I just don’t have time or patience for it at the moment >_<Start with clean, filed nails.

VioletLeBeauxDSC_0314_1832

Apply 2 coats of base coat and wait until completely dry. The base colour I used was White Gold.

VioletLeBeauxDSC_0315_1833

The next colour I’m using is Gold. This is where the tiny paint brush comes in handy!

violetlebeauxdsc_0316_1834

Paint little splotches all over the nails randomly.

violetlebeauxdsc_0317_1835

They don’t need to be even or the same size, you can make them as big or small as you like.

violetlebeauxdsc_0318_1836

Last colour I’m using is Bronze.

violetlebeauxdsc_0320_1838

Use the tiny paint brush to edge the spotches. Don’t worry about being neat about it and don’t go around the edge in a complete circle, you want it to be broken up into 2-3 parts with gaps between them.

violetlebeauxdsc_0326_1844

Let it dry, apply a clear top coat for extra shine and you’re done!

violetlebeauxdsc_0323_1841

You could reverse the colours to put a light leopard print on a dark background for a really pretty effect too.

This is a really good pattern to break your teeth on if you’ve never tried nail art before because it doesn’t matter if you make mistakes 😀
