Outfit Of The Day – Back In Black… and Pink?

Today’s outfit features a very special birthday present and a dress which is plain but now one of my favorites.

Belt- ebay
Shoes- Femme Connection
Scarf- Chanel
Brooch- Amaranth Opulent
Stockings- Myer

This is pretty much the first completely plain black dress I’ve ever owned… ever. Seriously. I know, I know, I’m missing out on the whole little black dress thing but I’ve caught up now! I bought this one from ebay on a whim for $12 and even though it’s a little big I really love it. In fact this dress is what started me liking black again. Something about it just makes me feel extra elegant!

VioletLeBeauxP1080864_21146VioletLeBeauxP1080869_21151

To be honest it might also be the scarf that makes me feel like this. It was a surprise birthday present from my Dad. He came to visit around my birthday and brought some handbags as presents from my extended family in England. It was my 25th this year which is a big deal in my family and I’ve worked really hard to make the career I have so they were really generous <3

Normally I use any birthday money I receive for sensible things like bills or insurance or household appliances but this time he said I had to buy something fun and frivolous. Usually when my parents say that, they just give me money and I spend it on sensible things anyway… that’s how I got my fridge!

But not this time, this time he said we actually had to go and physically buy something that was 100% fun… That is so not me XD So he refused to give me money and instead insisted on only buying me something. The long story short is that we walked around the cbd for ages and ended up in front of Chanel waiting for James to catch up from changing his phone contract. On a whim I went inside, saw this scarf and completely fell in love! It’s so beautiful but I always feel slightly awkward wearing it because it’s probably worth more than all of my other clothes put together *_* It’s the same with the hand bags though, I’m terrified of spilling something on them or setting them down somewhere and forgetting them. I’m clearly not built to have this level of fancy things! I feel much more comfortable with my $15 dress XD

Bergamot Bunny Spreadshirt T-Shirt Review

YAY!!! My Bergamot shirts arrived!

Bergamot-Bunny-Shirt-Review-0477

These have been a long time coming so excuse me a little while I camwhore a bit to celebrate 😉

Bergamot-Bunny-Shirt-Review-0473

I think Bergamot is pretty happy with them!Bergamot-Bunny-Shirt-Review-0485

Down to the nitty gritty, as you guys know there are no punches pulled in my reviews… even for my own products so let’s get in to it.

The shirts are designed by me and printed through Spreadshirt. You can visit the Bergamot apparel store here.

I ordered 4 shirts for this first lot to test out the quality and shipping times.

The order process was fairly simple but I already have a spreadshirt account so this may change if you don’t. I was able to pick the sizes and colours and international shipping was calculated automatically.

The shipping prices were a bit expensive. For orders under $49.99 it’s $13.99 to Aus but up to $99 it’s $23.99. Considering it took around 2 and a half weeks to arrive I think that’s over priced. If it was shipped via EMS with tracking I think the prices would be fine but for regular airmail it’s too much. That said the prices within the US are quite reasonable so it just made me want to find a separate Australian company to deal with orders on this side of the world. That or possibly order in wholesale quantities and sell them myself here. I’m looking at other options so all suggestions are welcome!

The shirts came bundled in a plastic bag:

There was 1 care instruction sheet.

VioletLeBeauxBergamot-Bunny-Shirt-Review-47_21029

I ordered 2 of the V-Neck version, 1 long sleeve and 1 classic. I only got to keep one of the v-neck versions though because the others were gifts ;_;

VioletLeBeauxBergamot-Bunny-Shirt-Review-46_21028

So one by one, this is the v-neck:

VioletLeBeauxBergamot-Bunny-Shirt-Review-61_21043

I ordered a small out of habit without checking the actual measurements. I’d say that the sizes don’t really correspond to Australian sizes at all and this is really more of a medium than small, you can see how big it is on me in the photos. I’m planning to order some more so I’ll measure and test out other sizes then too.

Seeing as this is the only one I’ve gotten to wear for an extended period of time I have more opinions on it.

The fabric on this was quite thin and drapable (totally a word). Not thin as in low quality but that kind of thinner t-shirt material that hangs nicely. The neck hole was a little smaller than I was expecting but not so small as to be irritating when worn. It’s not transparent so I don’t need to worry about layering and the colours on the print were quite vibrant.

I’ve worn it several times now and it was very comfortable especially after the first wash softened it up completely. I want buy more of this one to use in different Bergamot t-shirt surgery projects, I think it would be a really cute dress!

Overall I’m quite happy with this but I do now want to add in a much more fitted option to the store too because that’s how I prefer my shirts.

Each of the shirt styles had a different manufacturer and you can see more information on the tag shots.

The tag:

VioletLeBeauxBergamot-Bunny-Shirt-Review-62_21044

And  a close up shot of the print. You can see the colours and the crispness of the print lines. My camera blurred the edges a bit trying to be fancy but in real life it’s quite crisp.

VioletLeBeauxBergamot-Bunny-Shirt-Review-59_21041

The long sleeve shirt:

VioletLeBeauxBergamot-Bunny-Shirt-Review-54_21036

This one was a medium and it was much bigger than the V-Neck. The fabric was slightly thinner so I don’t think this would keep you very warm in winter but it would probably good for layering or in Spring/Autumn when the weather can’t make up it’s mind. The fabric was the softest out of all of them to the touch.

This one was a gift so I didn’t get to wear it.

VioletLeBeauxBergamot-Bunny-Shirt-Review-55_21037

The classic version:

VioletLeBeauxBergamot-Bunny-Shirt-Review-56_21038

This was the thickest fabric out of the lot and it’s very much a standard shirt. This one was a small too and was around the same size as the v-neck.

VioletLeBeauxBergamot-Bunny-Shirt-Review-58_21040

So overall thoughts?

I’m happy with what I ordered, the printing looks good, the shirts drape cutely and the design came out how I had envisioned it in my head. The shirts are comfortable and soft.

The shapes are good for standard t-shirts and I’ll be adding in an option for a more fitted shirt now too because that’s my personal preference. I’ll also look for both some smaller and larger sizing options so everyone has a good selection to choose from.

I’m not happy with the shipping charges so I’m going to look for local options as well so people on this side of the world don’t need to worry about crazy prices but I think that within the USA this is a good option for the moment.

I’ll be ordering again in the mean time so we could always do a group order and split the shipping if anyone wants to 😀

Final verdict: DO WANT

And because this is something I’ve been waiting for, have some more photos!

Outfit Of The Day- Minnie Mouse Style

VioletLeBeauxP1080717_20152

I’m going to change up the outfit posts a bit now 😀 Instead of doing several per post I’m going to do one but get more into detail about what makes up the outfit and details of what inspired it. I hope you guys enjoy it!

Dress- Made by me
Bow- Made by me
Shirt- SES

VioletLeBeauxP1080719_20154Every time I wear this dress I get Minnie Mouse comments XD I didn’t intend it when I made it and I honestly didn’t even make the connection until people started pointing it out. Totally oblivious haha!  So for this outfit I decided just to run with it and wear the gigantic bow too.

The dress was made in around 2 hours when I wanted something new to wear Christmas 6 years ago. I had a Christmas lunch planned with family and got up early with an idea in my head. I didn’t have a zip at the time so I attached some jump rings to the back and used them as lace up ties. Around a year later I added in the zipper and because it was a little short for my tastes I repurposed a skirt and added the white part to the bottom.

The bow was made a few years ago for a tutorial on how to make basic hair bows. It’s got tiny little crystals all over it 😀

VioletLeBeauxP1080718_20153

I really love the combination of black, white and red. I’ve been wearing a lot more black lately because most of my light coloured stockings seem to be missing.

This was the only photo I managed to get of my make up, stolen from my own Instagram haha. I tried a heavier look with bright purple on the bottom as eyeliner.

It was done with the new Lancome palette which I am completely in love with. The purple is just drool worthy!

And because change can be scary, here are some bonus pictures that I took while trying on my new Bergamot shirt! I’ll be doing a full review soon too so look forward to that ^_^

VioletLeBeauxP1080879_21161

I’m totally loving my new straight fringe again too ^_^ I really missed it for the last two years, it’s like putting on a comfy old sweater haha!

VioletLeBeauxP1080881_21163

Hope you enjoyed the new version!
