Special Guest Post- Liza from Nail Art World

Today I’m going to treat you to a special guest post by my good friend Lisa from Nail Art World.

She actually made this mani inspired by me, how cool is that?! I’ve done one to go on her blog too, I’ll post the link when it’s up πŸ˜€

Lisa- “First of all i am extremely proud to be a guest here – at the Violets blog. She is the most wonderful creature i ever met in the internet, and i just admire her beauty and creativity. I am a huge fan and regular reader of this blog, and i also want to thank Violet for sharing her wonderful world with the rest of us. When i was thinking about manicure for Violet, i knew from second one – violet is a right color. I also wanted to make something super sweet and girlish, but also add a touch of my own nail-art style on it. So it is not really like a manicure for Violet, but instead a manicure devoted to Violet.”

How sweet is that? I am completely beyond flattered at this. I have to say that I love it! It’s so cute and girly, I love the little flowers and glitter. I would totally wear this myself πŸ˜€

Have a great weekend guys and make sure to check out Lisa’s nail art!

New Nail Art Leopard Print

Hello again, I thought you might like to see my new nail art ^_^

Firstly I want to say thank you for the overwhelming response to my last post! You are all very sweet and your lovely comments really made my week! You guys all rock!

But down to business… I bet you were all wondering what kind of design I had on my nails in those pictures…

Well here they are in all their glory!

I am insanely happy with how these ones turned out, I was inspired by this post by the lovely Brooke. When it’s done in a tasteful way I LOVE leopard print.

I did a base coat of a no-name orange from Cosmetics Plus, it has a beautiful metallic gold shimmer in it but I was worried that it would be lost amongst the other colours. So my solution was to use the leopard print Konad stamp in gold first and then Black over the top, the result has a lot more depth than the plain orange.

I added some red and orange diamantes with a gold diamante bow and top coated it. These photos really don’t do it justice, it’ so shiny and beautiful in the sun!

Bonus shot: After lunch on Sunday James and his Dad had to take some computer parts and an old giant tv to the rubbish dump. I had never been to a dump so I decided to tag along! It was actually quite surprising, not as dirty as I expected though I did get a lot of strange looks from the other people as they were mostly tradies dumping junk from utes! I suppose they don’t get many hime gyaru in the dump! XD

Don’t worry both me and my dress have been thoroughly cleaned! πŸ˜‰

What’s the most adventurous place you’ve been lately? Have you guys had any fun nail art lately?

Blonde and at Greazefest

Evening all! Excuse if this post is a little all over the place, my brain is fried from looking at code for the last 3 days. Yes I know today is supposed to be ACEO Friday but I’m so behind on posting I thought I’d scrap it this week and show you some photos from last weekend.

James and I went to Greazefest!

What’s Greazefest? Well it’s a Kustom Kulture expo, basically full of classic cars, Rockabilly/Psychobilly music and 50-60’s culture! We go every year and it’s fantastic. These are the type of cars that you can expect to see at a Kustom Kulture expo:

I spent a lot of the day posing for photos with the “normal” people, very funny as I was wearing Hime Gyaru fashion not Rockabilly ^_^ Ah they are a bit similar so everyone assumes.

This car was so tiny! I can’t remember what model it was but it litterally came up to just above my waist!
So I decided to play out my Godzilla fantasies and pretend to crush it. Hime Gyaru is a fearesome monster! RRRAAARGH!

I can’t remember what this band was called but they played a lot! None of our friends were playing this year which was quite disapointing but oh well! I do miss bands like the Voodoo Kreepers, Bad Moon Company and Men Into Space, they were all awesome πŸ™

This is one of my dream cars! Pity I can’t drive XD Can you imagine going on picnics in this though?!

This is one of James dream cars haha. My god it was very hot that day, this year there were so many more people than usual too so there was no shade. I ended up cowering under my parasol all day!
How cool is the inside?
There were even adorable kid’s cars done up in classic style! So cute!!

This was the main stage, there are always heaps of swing dancers but when we took this photo there were just a bunch of kids. It’s a big family day and it’s adorable to see the tiny little girls in their swing dresses or the little boys with their turned up jeans and quiffs.
Heehee after James took this I noticed you can see us both in the reflection!

Me next to my picnic car πŸ˜€
Posing for a really nice old guy who loved this car ^_^ haha coming to Greazefest can make you feel like a celebrity!

After we walked around for 3 hours looking at the cars and market stalls I needed a break to sit. Look behind me to see the line for the food stall *_* I wanted a drink but decided to wait until we got home because it was craaaazy!

I did my nails specially for the day! James is in a psychobilly band called Sin Vida and their trademark is purple tiger stripes so this was for him ^_^ I even covered his double base with matching tiger stripe fur, it looks so cool! You can’t really see it here but the nails have silver lace on the tips and silver diamante bows.

I wanted more photos of James but he’s always so awkward when I try to take photos! He really wants a motor bike but I’m too scared he’ll fall off and die!

This is what you get when he won’t let me take real photos… Beard photos. Yay.

I also had to put up with this face everytime we turned a corner and he saw a new car! Imagine the sound effect of “AAAAWW YEAH! Look at that engine! Man that Slant 6 is so hot!” -_-‘

Ok so I got one nice of us at least! AAAAAND… you can see my hair! What do you think? Yay or nay? I think the last blonde got voted down in my poll so what do you think of this one?

At the end of the day I realised my parasol had gotten broken some time during the day and I was very sad. We went to get pearl tea and Yogen Fruz (I’m going to review it next week) to cool down which put an awesome end to the day though. I only had this sulky face for a few minutes…

Lastly here I am doing a bad job of blending in. I had such a great day, I can’t wait until next year but I hope they change venues so there’s enough room for everyone this time!

What did you guys do this week? Did any of you get to Greazefest?

My Hime Gyaru Inspirations…

Well I’ve had quite a few questions about what inspires me to do the things I do and clothes I wear. I’ve been asked what blogs I read too so I thought I’d use today’s post to give a bit of a shout out to people I admire and my favorite things! This is going to be a pretty long post because I have a lot of wonderful people to talk about, at the end there are random facts about me you didn’t know so keep reading!

I’m also going to be adding to this over time too.(All photos other than the one above credited to their original owners and found via google images ^_^ Also these are all my opinions, I’m not being paid to endorse anything hahaha!)

Styles that Inspire me:

Hime Gyaru Hime style is what I’m most inspired by at the moment. The philosophy is basically to live like a princess! Big hair, big accessories and big nails, I love it all. Many people refer to this style as “Lolita’s older sister” because many Lolitas graduate to this style. It’s slightly more grown up but not much! I think it’s less restrictive though, I can wear beautiful high heels πŸ˜€

Lolita One of my first fashion loves was Lolita and no matter what I do I’ll never shake it completely! While I still love the over the top-ness that is Sweet Style, after almost 5 years or so I’m moving towards Classic styles. Still love my pettis though πŸ˜€
1950-60’s and RockabillyI love the music and the dresses. I may not have ben alive when it happened but I sure love that style! I know it’s oversimplifying it but I wish girls still got all dolled up for a night at the Malt Shop ^_^ So classy and classicly beautiful. This cut of dress is flattering on almost anyone.

Shops that I Love: Angelic Pretty- The ultimate Lolita store, enough said. I still love their accessories and a lot of the dresses. http://www.angelicpretty.com/en/ http://www.angelicpretty.com/ Jesus Diamante- Jesus Diamante is to Hime Gyaru what AP is to Lolita. BLONDE Hair and new nails :D

Yes that’s right I’m blonde now… I finally took the plunge!

All I’ve got at the moment are crappy cell phone pics because I was sick all weekend *again*

I was aiming for Ageha caramel blonde. It looks a lot lighter than this in the light…

Unfortunately after bleaching for an hour and a half the black tips were so strong that they are still dark brown, it looks like cool gradation though… so hmm… I totally cant decide whether
I like it or if I want to just dye it back to red again. So I’ve created a poll for you to vote on in my left side bar πŸ˜€

Please excuse me looking like death, I was so sick and snotty!Yay or nay?

Now on to my new nails! This is a Japanese technique called “paving”. Basically it’s a silver base coat and then covered in various sized jewels.

Very time consuming.

But I really love how it turned out!

Zomg where did my nails go? They’re camouflaged!

What did you all do over the weekend? I would love any tips you all have for blonde hair!

Nail Art and Hair

Hello lovely readers time for more nail art!

Today I’m getting back to my roots and showing you the nail art I was talking about last post. Very Hime-style and very over the top πŸ˜€ Exactly my style.

It’s been ages since I’ve done something this 3-d but I just couldn’t resist using these pretty flowers that I ordered a while ago.

The blue and pink polish was mixed with shimmer dust to make it a little bit more opaque and shiny.
I love how they turned out, the only problem I have is that because the little flowers are made of ceramics rather than sculpy they are very sharp so I keep scratching myself πŸ™

Lastly I’ve been trying out new hairstyles for when I cant be bothered/don’t have time to do a proper Hime pouf. I figured I’ll get everyone’s opinion and then once I’ve done a few you can all vote on them πŸ˜€

So here’s style number 1… The Giant Updo Pouf with Flowers!

Created by teasing everything except the fringe, pinning it up at the back, spraying and sticking in flowers. Good for showing off earrings.

Yay or nay? I’m hoping for more nail art soon too.
