Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Another nail polish swatching adventure today! If you read nail polish blogs you’ve probably seen the new Eyeko polishes everywhere. I figured this was as good a time as any to review and show you all of the Eyeko polishes in my collection.

Mostly I just wanted a little down time and swatching polishes is nice and relaxing!

Brand: Eyeko

From: Their website

Price: £8.50 per polish *EDIT* Sorry everyone! I miss-read the website, it’s actually £8.50 for a set of 3 or £3.50 each. My bad! */EDIT*

Volume: 8.5ml

Ingredients: Ethyl acetate, Butyl acetate, Nitrocellulose, Adipic acid/neopentyl glycol/trimellitic anhydride copolymer, Isopropyl alcohol, Propyl acetate, Triphenyl phosphate, Trimethyl pentanyl diisobutyrate, n-Butyl alcohol, Stearalkonium hectorite, Diacetone alcohol, Dimethicone, Citric acid, Benzophenone-1. May Contain: CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 15850 (D&C Red No.6), CI 77499, CI 77491 (Iron Oxides), CI 77510 (Ferric Ferrocyanide), CI 77000(Aluminum Powder), CI 19140 (FD&C Yellow No.5), Calcium Aluminum , Borosilicate, Silica, Polyethylene terephthalate.

Bottle: Tall round thin bottles. Look good but not as easy to store as square bottles.

Brush: Average size, flexible.

Drying Time: Roughly the same for all of them. Not ridiculously long but nothing to write home about.

Colour Name: Chi Chi

Description: Pink glitter in a milky pink base.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: Quite an interesting pink the milky base is very sheer but after 3 coats it’s nearly opaque from the weight of the glitter. I think this is probably my favorite of the bunch.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Layering -Small accents eg. French tips etc

Bad for: -Being Opaque

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: Saucy

Description: Red with an orangey base.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: Fairly standard bright red. Pretty, shiny and opaque in 1 coat.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Bright fun summery manicures -Good red for vintage-ish mani’s too -Very opaque so possibly good for Konading

Bad for: -Anything you don’t want to be completely in your face with colour

Excuse the stripe in the photo below, I managed to get a hair on it while drying >_<

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: Punk

Description: Neon pink.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: This was an odd one for me, I’m not sure if it was just the bottle I got but it’s a slightly different colour than I was expecting. Very very matte, no shine to it at all.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Insanely bright mani’s -Probably good for Konad as it’s very opaque

Bad for: -Not burning your eyes out with it’s insane brightness -Being subtle

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: Rain

Description: Light opaque blue/grey.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: Actually a really interesting colour. Very odd combination between blue and grey, I think the name pretty accurately describes it!

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Nail art, good consistency to use with a small brush -Rain clouds etc… anything gloomy -Work safe designs

Bad for: -Cheery bright designs

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: Lilac

Description: Pretty much what the name says… Lilac.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: I really like the packaging on this one! The polish itself is a nice glossy flattering colour suitable for crazy nail art but also more subdued work friendly things.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Work friendly mani’s -Macaron nail art etc

Bad for: -Anything with a big oomf. -Probably not good with konad as the first coat is a little weak.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name:

Nude

Description: Tan opaque polish.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: Meh, there’s nothing actually wrong with the polish, it applies well and dries glossy… but I just don’t like it because I find tan so boring.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Work safe stuff I suppose -Leopard print…

Bad for: -Exciting-ness…

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: Purple

Description: Nice matte reddish purple.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: I have a soft spot for matte purples, I don’t know why but I just love them. This one is no different, it is quite an interesting one because it layers really well for 3 distinct colours.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Versatility -Using as a matte base and adding glitter

Bad for: -Can’t think of anything.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: Coral

Description: Bright red polish, light pinky tones.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: This is a very similar colour to the Saucy polish from earlier but this one is lighter and more… red. In the bottle it looks more orangy but when applied I thought it was on the pinker side.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -More bright manicures. -Again probably good for Konading as it’s very opaque

Bad for: -Non-bright designs (duh)

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: Vintage

Description: Mint green, shiny and opaque.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: Another nice shiny opaque colour. This one reminds me of the green/pink striped colours in an old fashioned malt shop. Or maybe an old fashioned dentist.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Nail art like leaves etc, very opaque and good consistency.

Bad for: -Using on it’s own, I think a whole polish design in this shade might be a bit odd because it’s kind of a washed out colour.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: Tea Rose

Description: Dark pink glossy polish.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: This one dries a lot more darkly than in the bottle. Very nice colour and not a shade I’ve seen very often.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Work safe manicures -Natural but interesting designs

Bad for: -Out there/unnatural designs.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: Posh

Description: Medium brown for “ladylike” nails.

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: Again there wasn’t anything actually wrong with this polish but I just am not a fan of browns like this… they look so boring to me! Also I have no idea how this colour is for posh nails but that’s just me XD

Eyeko Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Ummmm… More leopard print?

Bad for: -Cutesy sweet designs.

I can’t find the photo of the 3 layered swatch I took so you will have to use your imagination. Pretty much it was opaque in 1 coat.

Overall I quite like the quality of Eyeko polishes, though considering the size of the bottle I think they are quite expensive. Some of the colours they come product are quite original. Very nice.

Rose Print Nail Art!

I’ve been playing with the 3D acrylic again and I wanted something to match my dress for Manifest on Friday. This is what came out…

Rose Nail Art

I am slowly getting better with modeling the acrylics, I just need more practice! though I think some of the effect is lost because the layer of gel over the top was too thick.

Rose Nail Art

I am very happy with how the painted roses turned out, this was my first time trying them too and I really like the effect.

Rose Nail Art

Over all, quite happy!

Rose Nail Art

My favorite of the 3D parts is most definitely the glittery hearts! Makes me think I need to use MOAR GLITTER 😀

Did you all have a good weekend?

Chimera Nail Polish Swatching

If you read a lot of nail polish blogs you will know that Australian polish brand Chimera has had problems in the past, bloggers that I respect and consider to be friends were affected and I do not in any way condone what went on. Since then, Chimera have apparently made a lot of internal changes and I believe in second chances so when they asked me to review these polishes I said yes.  I will only be commenting on my opinions and experiences with the actual polishes. The polishes were provided by Chimera and all opinions are 100% honest and mine.’Nuff said.

*EDIT* Ok so it has come to my attention that the problems mentioned above have not stopped. As Chimera continues to engage in behavior like this I cannot recommend their polishes. I do not condone spam. I do not condone underhanded blogging tactics. I believe in second chances but I also believe that those chances need to be used well not squandered. My opinions on the polish stand but I do not support the brand AT ALL. */EDIT*

So let’s talk nail polish!

I received 8 polishes in total so here are the basic details, specific polish details will be with the relevant photos below.

Brand: Chimera

From: Their website

Price: $14.95 per polish

Volume: 15ml

Ingredients: N-Butylacetate, Nitrocellulose, Ethyl Acetate, Isopropyl Alcohol

Bottle: I do like square bottles because it makes them easier to stack and keep tidy. The lid has an odd texture which is kind of grippy.

Brush: Very thin flexible brush.

Drying Time: Pretty much the same for all of them… quite quick.

Colour Name: All of the colours have names on the website but only numbers are printed on the bottles so I can’t remember what the names are >_< This is number 121

Description: Dark grey polish with lots and lots of silver glitter.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: Decent coverage with 1 coat, great with two coats. The polish itself looks a little matt so it reminds me a bit of gun metal. I like how dense the glitter is.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Industrial style nails -Matte background for designs -Possibly good for Konad as it’s highly concentrated, haven’t tried though.

Bad for: -Glossy nails, would need a good top coat

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: 124

Description: Purple with pink tones and a silver shimmer through it.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: Very pretty light purple, quite metallic but not in a cold way. This is exactly the kind of blingy colour that I like ^_^ Very opaque too.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Cute french tips -Flowery nail art -Possibly Konad because it’s very opaque but I haven’t tried it.

Bad for: -Layering over other colours as it’s very opaque

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: 70

Description: A kind of sea blue with gold shimmers.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: Opaque in 2 coats, a little streaky but that makes me think of the ocean even more haha!

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Ocean themed nail art -Swirly 70’s-ish nail art

Bad for: -Super smooth base coats -Probably wouldn’t be very opaque over dark colours

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: 101

Description: Very light pearlescent pink.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: Very thin polish, took 3 coats to be really opaque. I suspect it is supposed to be used in natural looking French manicures. It reminds me a lot of the colour my Barbie dolls used to wear XD

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Natural French mani’s -Office appropriate nails -Cotton candy themed nail art

Bad for: -Standing out

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: 88

Description: Slightly darker than the previous pink, this is a bubble gum-ish pink pearl with gold tones.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: Opaque in two coats, the colour you get with one coat is quite cute too. It has quite a pleasant shine to it but is a little thick for my liking.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Sweet, girly nails -Nail art on darker colours

Bad for: -Cold colour themed manicure

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: 68 (or possibly 89 >_<)

Description: Light purple with a pearl finish, more on the blue side of things.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: This polish is a bit of an odd colour, it is quite streaky but it layers in an interesting way. The difference between 1 and 3 coats is quite large. It’s quite opaque in 1 coat but if you continue to layer it becomes quite dark.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Odd interesting layered designs -Possibly very good for Konad stamping over matte bases

Bad for: -Super smooth bases

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: 64

Description: Very pale plain pink.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: Very pink. Nice and smooth, opaque in two coats with quite a high shine factor. This is the sort of colour that is very versatile because it’s understated enough to go with lots and lots of other colours. While all of the pinks I’ve reviewed in this post are very similar I like this one the most because from a nail-art point of view it can be used in so many types of designs.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Super cutesy nail art -Natural French manicures -Office friendly manicures -Possibly good with Konad as it’s very opaque

Bad for: -Mmm… can’t think of any!

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Colour Name: 117

Description: Deep chocolaty brown with a shimmery finish.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Thoughts: -Very very opaque creamy brown, it is absolutely spot on the colour of chocolate! The application of this one made me very happy, really smooth and shiny and I couldn’t stop thinking about melted chocolate.

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Good for: -Leopard or animal themed nail art -Chocolate themed nails

Bad for: -Plain manicures

Chimera Nail Polish Swatches

Conclusion:

I was really pleasantly surprised at these polishes. After actually trying them I was really happy with the results and I use some of them very frequently now. While being quite pricey I thought the quality was really good, they went on very smoothly and the finishes were overall very pretty and shiny. They have a very wide range of colours (especially pinks!), the shipping was very fast and the customer service that I experienced was very polite and I got same day answers to everything I asked.

Verdict: If I had the money I would buy a lot of the other colours.

Missha- Lucid Nail Polish Swatches

I’ve been thinking about posting swatches of my nail polishes for quite a while now. Seeing as I’ve collected so many it seemed a shame to just have them sitting there already swatched and not post them! And I finally convinced James to take all the photos for me… even better!

So first up is this awesome glittery pink from Missha. It’s currently my faaavorite!

Missha Nail Polish Swatches

Brand:

Missha

Colour Name:

Lucid (?)

Bought From:

Missha store at Box Hill

Price:

Around AU$5 not completely sure though

Description:

Very highly concentrated dark pink glitter polish.

Volume:

7.5ml

Ingredients:

Not listed on the bottle. Bottle says “Against Animal Testing”.

Missha Nail Polish Swatches

Bottle:

Very cute heart shaped design. The design takes away from the volume but because it’s a fairly tall bottle it makes up for it.

Brush:

Very wide and flat. Really good design for being able to get almost an entire nail in one swipe. Also makes it very quick and easy to do French tips.

Drying Time:

One coat dries very quickly and looks great.

Thoughts:

I looooove this colour so much and I really love how pigmented and opaque the glitter is. It goes on surprisingly smoothly and maintains a good sheen even without a top coat. Very thick consistency due to all of the glitter. When it’s in the sunlight it is insanely shiny.

Missha Nail Polish Swatches

Good for:

-Fancy french tips -Looks cute plain on short nails -Pigmented enough to use for nail art

Bad for: -People who don’t like cutsy pink glittery things 😉
