It's Krrunch Time ;)

Evening everyone! Nuffnang is having another competition to win tickets to the Regional Blog Awards.

For those who haven’t heard of the competition it’s basically to show how fun Pringles are and you have to use the word “Krrunch” in place of the word “fun”.

Anyway this is my entry, I hope you enjoy it!

Today has been a very boring day πŸ™

There is absolutely nothing to do. It’s my day off so there’s not even any work to keep me occupied.

There is nothing going on online either *_* No new emails, slow Twitter day and no comments to reply to!
Luckily my savior arrives! James is home and behold he’s brought lots of yummy Pringles πŸ˜€

Yaaaay! Maybe today won’t be so boring after all! Maybe it will be a Krrunch day!
After just one chip something amazing starts to happen….
I am transformed from plain old boring Violet to……………..

Photobucket

SUPER AMAZING KRRUNCH PRINCESS GIRL VIOLET! Gone are the boring pajamas and pig tails, replaced with a hime style ensemble! I’m ready to rid the world of bad style every where, look out people with bad fashion sense, IT’S KRRUNCH TIME!

Hmm now that you mention it, this outfit looks a little bit plain doesn’t it? I wonder how I could jazz it up a bit?
Hmm maybe Pringles will come to my rescue again!

Now what do I need? I’ll separate the cardboard from the coloured front and go from there.
Now I can gather up some other craft supplies life felt, glue and the staple of a Princess’ closet: lace!
I’ve got lots of ideas what to do but I’m going to start with 3 to begin with. Here is what I’m going to start with…

I cut a bigger circle out of the Pringles box to make the base of idea #1 and taped them together. I added some glue to make sure it would stick and left to dry.
Idea #2 sees me cut a small tube cover the outside with some squishy batting.
Now time to decorate idea #2, I got some nice ribbon and started wrapping it around the tube.
Here’s what it looked like when that stage was finished…Then I covered Idea #2 in pink felt to match my dress!
I added some pretty decorations to cover all the yucky edges and left it to dry again. Can you guess what it is yet?
While idea #1 and #2 are drying let’s get started on making some decorations for them! Remember when I stripped off the wrapping from the Pringles can? Well I’m going to make some roses with it. First cut it into strips varying in width depending on how big you want the finished rose to be. Then fold them in half so the red is on the outside.
Start at the end and fold it backwards on an angle. This is actually how you make ribbon roses but it works the same with paper.
Start curling it around. Fold the long edge backwards again and keep rolling, continue doing this over and over again.
It’s starting to look like a rose! Keep going until you reach the end of the paper and glue the end out of the way.
Taadaa!
Repeat and make a bunch of them to decorate everything with πŸ˜€
Did you guess what Idea #1 was? It’s a mini top hat! Now add some roses and ribbons to make it even prettier.

And Idea #2? It’s a bangle! Add some roses to that too, everything looks better with roses!
Now those ones are finished, time to move on to Idea #3! I cut a Pringles can to this shape:
Next I glued the lids on both sides and covered it in felt and lace. I added a ribbon handle and used one of the roses I made as the closing mechanism.
So Pringles inspired me to make all of these adorable pieces!
Now to model them all! Cute right? Not bad for a couple of Pringles cans and lace!
Thanks Pringles, you sure made my day Krrunch in the end ^_^

This outfit looks pretty good now? I am ready for a night out on the town! (Preferably in Singapore *hint hint*)And a close up to end it all nicely ^_^ SUPER AMAZING KRRUNCH PRINCESS GIRL VIOLET TRIUMPHS AGAINST A PLAIN BORING OUTFIT!What do you guys think, am I in with a chance? It’s Krrunch time, get playful! Cross my fingers that Nuffnang will like it too ^_^

Hime Gyaru Tutorial – Sewing A Shopping Bag

Today I’ve got a quick and easy tutorial for you, a hime gyaru shopping bag.

Well even with the best laid intentions I didn’t have a particularly awesome weekend. In fact I would go so far as to say it sucked. I’m not going to get in to everything here but the one thing I will mention is my horrible hair dye mishap. I had been planning to give you all 2 hair tutorials this week but after the hair incident (which left me a strange ashy blonde with completely different coloured roots) you’ll have to wait for my hair to rest for a few days so I can dye it again hopefully back to normal.

So anyway instead of a hair tutorial I’m going to show you how to make a pretty shopping bag. I believe that as many aspects of my life as possible should be filled with beautiful things. It follows fairly easily that I don’t like plain old grey shopping bags. After reading THIStutorial on Craftster I was inspired to make my own portable, reusable, beautiful bag ^_^ Mine is quite different than the original because I wasn’t reading the pattern as I was going so it folds differently.

Let’s get started then! Here is what you will need for the shopping bag:

-Fabric for the bag (and lining fabric if you decide to use it, I didn’t and it’s perfectly sturdy) -Plastic bag for pattern -Lace, pearls or other decorations

Cut the seams off the plastic bag at the top and bottom.

Unfold it so it looks like this:

You now need to use this as a pattern to cut two pieces like this out. If you are using lining cut some of that out too.

I had some spare pink lace that I decided to decorate mine with. I laid out the lace in several layers to get the effect I wanted. Then I sewed it all down.

I sewed a layer of lace flowers across the top of the lace. Now you should cut out a piece of fabric for the pocket, I decided to put a lace bow on there so I cut that out too.

Now sew the pocket onto one side!

Next it’s time to overlock all the loose seams and overlock the sides and tops of the handles together.

Now it’s time to put those origami skillz to good use! On the sides you should fold them in on themselves like the original plastic bag was. The handles should fold in on themselves too. Do it on both sides and then overlock the bottom seam. I then covered the bottom seam with lace flowers to match the top.

The few last steps are very simple. Sew the seams around the top and handles so they are neat. Then if you included the lace bow on the pocket, gather it in a piece of ribbon. Lastly I added a string of pearls which will double as a handle when it’s all folded up.

Here is an animation of how it folds up! 1. Fold the bottom underneath 2. Fold the side in 3. Fold the other side in 4. Fold the handles backwards 5. Fold it under on it’s self and push it into the pocket. 6. TADAA!

If you don’t want to put it in your purse you can carry it in with the pearls until you need to fill it with groceries etc

Time to take it for a test drive!

When you buy something then unfold it and tadaa!

Sorry that wasn’t my best tutorial, I wasn’t expecting to use these photos as a tutorial. I was very crafty on the weekend, I’ll show you what else I made next time! Let me know if any of you make a hime gyaru shopping bag too!

New Nail Art Leopard Print

Hello again, I thought you might like to see my new nail art ^_^

Firstly I want to say thank you for the overwhelming response to my last post! You are all very sweet and your lovely comments really made my week! You guys all rock!

But down to business… I bet you were all wondering what kind of design I had on my nails in those pictures…

Well here they are in all their glory!

I am insanely happy with how these ones turned out, I was inspired by this post by the lovely Brooke. When it’s done in a tasteful way I LOVE leopard print.

I did a base coat of a no-name orange from Cosmetics Plus, it has a beautiful metallic gold shimmer in it but I was worried that it would be lost amongst the other colours. So my solution was to use the leopard print Konad stamp in gold first and then Black over the top, the result has a lot more depth than the plain orange.

I added some red and orange diamantes with a gold diamante bow and top coated it. These photos really don’t do it justice, it’ so shiny and beautiful in the sun!

Bonus shot: After lunch on Sunday James and his Dad had to take some computer parts and an old giant tv to the rubbish dump. I had never been to a dump so I decided to tag along! It was actually quite surprising, not as dirty as I expected though I did get a lot of strange looks from the other people as they were mostly tradies dumping junk from utes! I suppose they don’t get many hime gyaru in the dump! XD

Don’t worry both me and my dress have been thoroughly cleaned! πŸ˜‰

What’s the most adventurous place you’ve been lately? Have you guys had any fun nail art lately?

How to Turn $10 into about $700 Hime Gyaru Dress Style… Nuffnang Comp Entry!

This is the story of how I made a Hime Gyaru style dress for $10.

Ok ok ok ok ok ok so you were all waiting on the edge of your seats for this post right? I’ve received a surprising number of messages from you all desperate to know what I did… well here it is!

In my previous post I mentioned this competition at my advertising company Nuffnang (who rock). The general jist of the competition is that they sent us all a $10 Coles Myer Gift voucher and the blogger who spends it in the most creative or frugal way wins a voucher for $100.

Here is the story of what I did…

One night I was busy dreaming about how much I love clothes that make me feel like a princess. I love Hime Gyaru fashion and most of all I love Jesus Diamante clothing… but it’s notoriously expensive ;_; Dresses can cost as much as $1000 which a poor little graphic designer like me just can’t afford…

But as I awoke I came up with a brilliant idea!

So I put on my favorite outfit and headed off to the shops with James to use my $10 voucher on what I needed….

I went everywhere looking for what I wanted. I visited Kmart and Target but there was nothing in my price range *_* I consoled myself with yummy pancakes filled with caramel… But alas I couldn’t find it… so after a long day shopping we went home for a nap. I was very disheartened but James convinced me to try again and visit Coles later that night… also we didn’t have any food in the house and needed to find something for dinner but that’s beside the point!

Lo and behold I got exactly what I needed! I bet you’re all about to burst from holding your breath about what I bought… TAADAAA!!

2 pink flannelet pillow cases and 1 cream scarf. Wait not what you expected? Well keep reading!

And it even came to $9.98 so I have 2 more cents to spend at Coles XD

Now let’s get to work… I took everything up to my sewing room and unpicked all of the seams in the pillow cases. Now I have 2 large pieces of pink fabric and 1 cream scarf.

I made up a pattern and cut up the pieces. I made sure to keep all of the scraps in case I need them later. I gathered and sewed the skirt piece onto the cream belt and pink bodice, I overlocked each seam to make it cleaner and more hard wearing.

Then I found a piece of lace and finished the bottom seams. I gathered the top of the bodice to make a sweetheart neckline. lt=”” id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5373387288188375186″ border=”0″ />Next I added some darts to the bust area to it fit nice and snugly. After that I added two small straps to hold it up. These were made from the scraps of pillow case.

I have been in love with all of the 50’s inspired boat neck dresses Jesus Diamante have been coming out with lately so I made my own interpretation with the remaining pieces of the scarf…

I used the fringe ends of the scarf and a scrap of pillow case to make a little pin as an accessory… And TAADAA! I turned $9.98 worth of pillow cases and scarf into a dress!

I bet you all want to see what it looks like on right? It sure isn’t “One Size Fits All” anymore!

Add some beautiful accessories and you’ve got a pretty Hime style summer dress!

I wore it to James’ family lunch yesterday and it was a big hit! I got many compliments even before they all knew what it was made from ^_^

We took all the chairs and tables outside in their garden to have a delicious feast! Very French and perfect for summer. The garden was the perfect backdrop for some photos, everything was so green!

James keeps his classic 1963 Valiant Regal car at his parent’s house because there is no room for it in our place! I’ll post some proper photos of it another day because it’s really pretty, but the star of today’s post is my dress!

Before lunch was ready James and I played around in the garden and took some photos, there were lots of gross bugs everywhere! You can’t really tell in this photo but I’m standing on a stump which is very unstable! Don’t get the dress dirty it’s so expensive I might not be about to afford to replace it!!! πŸ˜‰

I decided that this was the perfect garden party dress! I have to say I’m very happy with how it turned out πŸ˜€

Say hello to everyone guys! This was desert and boy was it yummy!

And so that is the story of how I turned $10 at Coles into some pillow cases and a scarf and then into a cute dress ^_^

What do you think? Pretty close but with my own spin? For the record I know that brand replica’s are illegal and morally wrong, this is merely my own spin on the fashions that inspire me!

Jesus Diamante (Probably around$700) and me ($9.98)

Nuffnang! Please give me the $100 voucher and fill up the rest of my wardrobe!

Creative right? πŸ˜›

So what do you guys think?

P.s. Anyone who wants to nominate me for the Nuffnang blogger awards is full of win and awesome and I’ll love you forever!

Hope you enjoyed the mini Hime Gyaru tutorial πŸ˜‰

BLONDE Hair and new nails :D

Yes that’s right I’m blonde now… I finally took the plunge!

All I’ve got at the moment are crappy cell phone pics because I was sick all weekend *again*

I was aiming for Ageha caramel blonde. It looks a lot lighter than this in the light…

Unfortunately after bleaching for an hour and a half the black tips were so strong that they are still dark brown, it looks like cool gradation though… so hmm… I totally cant decide whether
I like it or if I want to just dye it back to red again. So I’ve created a poll for you to vote on in my left side bar πŸ˜€

Please excuse me looking like death, I was so sick and snotty!Yay or nay?

Now on to my new nails! This is a Japanese technique called “paving”. Basically it’s a silver base coat and then covered in various sized jewels.

Very time consuming.

But I really love how it turned out!

Zomg where did my nails go? They’re camouflaged!

What did you all do over the weekend? I would love any tips you all have for blonde hair!

Nail Art and Hair

Hello lovely readers time for more nail art!

Today I’m getting back to my roots and showing you the nail art I was talking about last post. Very Hime-style and very over the top πŸ˜€ Exactly my style.

It’s been ages since I’ve done something this 3-d but I just couldn’t resist using these pretty flowers that I ordered a while ago.

The blue and pink polish was mixed with shimmer dust to make it a little bit more opaque and shiny.
I love how they turned out, the only problem I have is that because the little flowers are made of ceramics rather than sculpy they are very sharp so I keep scratching myself πŸ™

Lastly I’ve been trying out new hairstyles for when I cant be bothered/don’t have time to do a proper Hime pouf. I figured I’ll get everyone’s opinion and then once I’ve done a few you can all vote on them πŸ˜€

So here’s style number 1… The Giant Updo Pouf with Flowers!

Created by teasing everything except the fringe, pinning it up at the back, spraying and sticking in flowers. Good for showing off earrings.

Yay or nay? I’m hoping for more nail art soon too.
