Old Sewing Projects Lolita Style
Nov 19, 2011 by Violet
I’ve been going through a lot of my old stuff lately to clear space for new things and reclaim some floor space in the apartment. While I was getting rid of stuff I came across some old craft projects I did when I was interested in Lolita. I’ve given away almost all of my Lolita stuff now so this was the last to go to a very excited girl I know!
But anyway I thought you guys might be interested in seeing some of it and I feel like reminiscing!

These ear muffs were made out of an old broken pair of headphones. I never even wore them once because Brisbane pretty much is Summer all year XD So they were completely pointless to make! They were based off a BtSSB design back in the days when no one did overseas shipping.

Of course to match I made the bunny bag that was so popular too…

In the end it creeped me out a bit too much and it didn’t hold much so I think I only used it once.

Blue was my favorite colour at the time if you couldn’t tell XD

Lastly this is the last Lolita skirt I ever sewed, the design was quite plain but the fabric was so cute that I didn’t want to go too crazy. I wore this one quite a bit, in fact I had quite a few similar blue skirts because I liked them so much. I’ve kept one AP one but the rest have gone to more loving homes where they can be worn and enjoyed again rather than just collect dust at the back of my closet ^_^

One day I should did up some of the photos of other dresses I made back then. I did quite a few, before I went to Japan in 2007 almost my whole wardrobe was hand made.

While I’m not wearing Lolita styles anymore I know a lot of you guys do wear it so let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see made, I’m in the mood for nostalgic sewing haha!

These are so darling. The bunny bag looks amazingly like the original! Let me be the first to say that pattern will be in demand if you happen to have it lying around still, haha. I love the earmuffs.
I didn’t use a pattern but I could definitely try to remember what I did ^_^
I am a full time Lolita, so leaving the style seems unthinkable to me, but I’m the type of person that wears any and everything and find a way to blend my old wardrobe into my new one, so I never want for different things to wear. From the Goth of my high school days to the fancy frills I don today, I love it all. I am even playing with Hime Gayaru and Kogal styles, but I figure, it’s all just me!
I love the earmussf you did. So Cute! and the skirt was lovely. Scallop hems are a great look on most anyone.
The bunny bag is a bit creepy, I agree with you, but cute in it’s own way.
If you were going to make anything….I’d ask to see your straw hat/ bonnet interpretation as well as a cute pair of slippers.
Thanks ^_^ Kat!
I was an every day Lolita too, and you’ve got the best outlook thinking it’s all just you :D I think this stuff definitely isn’t me anymore though, I’ve changed so much since I made these both personally and in tastes. Straw bonnet and slippers are added to the list!
Anything you want to make I would love to see! My niece has decided to go Lolita and I volunteered to teach her to sew, so I’ve been on the lookout for project ideas!
Oh teaching your niece to sew sounds like such a fun thing to do together! You are so nice to do that!
Oooh that skirt is very cute!!
I’d be interested in a simple jsk tutorial :)
Thanks Rie! Can do :D
hey thats a cool idea… telling the wifey :-)
^_^
Wow – you did a wonderful job on the scalloped hem. My mother is an excellent seamstress – but my skills don’t go much beyond straight stitches.
Thanks! Scalloped hems are the most irritating thing to sew I think XD
OMG the Bunny Bag please!!!
I would so love to make one! Or two… or one for each color LOL
Ok! Added to my list!
-gasps and points at the earmuffs-
Could you do a tutorial on those? ;o
Also, maybe you could do some tutorials and stuff on your normal Hime things but kind of put a Lolita twist on them? Like a tutorial on how to make a basic JSK or skirt that can be worn with both Hime-Kei and Lolita. Stuff like that.
So everybody is happy xD
I most certainly can :D Thank you so much for your suggestions Mana :D
That skirt is sooooo cute!!! I’d love to have one like it….and the bunny bag = <3
They’re on my tutorial list now :D
It is downright freakin’ amazing the way everything you make turns out awesome!
You should give some basic tutorials for all of those! XD
Haha thanks so much Bunny! Added to the list!
Oh, those are absolutely darling! Especially those earmuffs and that bunny bag. Hehe, I think the bag would be precious if it had eyes. ;; But it’s still absolutely adorable.
And I love that practically all of it is sax! That’s one of my favorite colorways. ;o;
Me too! I was completely obsessed with this light blue colour!
Wow! Even back then your sewing projects are marvelous! :O I loved everything that you had made: the earmuffs, the bunny bag, and the skirt. Basically I loved all of them. xD I do agree with you on the creepiness of the bag, though I think what you should’ve done was add on some black beads for eyes to make the bunny more friendlier. When you had mentioned that blue was once your favourite colour, you weren’t kidding at ALL. Although I’m more into himegyaru than lolita, I won’t mind seeing a Jsk tutorial, though that is if you have spare time of course.
Thanks Wanda, I think I was a much better seamstress back then, now I’m too busy and lazy to sew very much >_< I will definitely make some tutorials!
You are so amazing at sewing~ Its probably because I dont get creeped out easily, but I think the Bunnybag is cute^ ^ The earmuffs are perfect, too!
Aww thank you <3
What, this stuff is awesome! I like the earmuffs and bag MORE than btssbs. I mean you are good at all crafts but you’re extra amazing with the stuffed animal type things.
Oh wow! That’s such an awesome compliment Holly thank you so much!
That blue fabric! I used that to make a baby blanket for my head of years baby boy! EEEEE! You made such a lovely use out of it, I’m jealous, it puts my quilting skills to shame!
That’s such a cute use for the fabric though!
