Outfits and Mini Maos Review

Oct 6, 2011 by

So we’re back to regularly scheduled programming now that most of the year’s events are over, I’m feeling much better and I’m ready to get back to my routine and post properly again!

This review has been a long time coming because I wanted to get some good photos with James’ new camera to do it justice!

Mini Maos contacted me a while ago to organise a review and having been a fan of theirs for quite a while via Cheesie’s blog I agreed. I love the idea of reasonably priced resellers outside of Japan and considering the conversion from the Australian Dollar to the Malaysian RM it’s another +1 in terms of shopping XD

Yay for reasonably priced Japanese brands and world wide shipping!

Shop: Mini Maos

Mini Maos sell imported Japanese clothing and carry brands such as Liz Lisa, WC, Dolly Wink, Duffy, Murua and the like. They also carry some other general gyaru brands from cheaper stores.

i remember when i went to japan a few summers ago and i was pretty surprised the first time i really went shopping. a large amount of clothing was ‘one size fits all’ which is something you rarely ever see that in the u.s.

also i remember how short a lot of liz lisa (and other brands in general) dresses were when i tried them on. i’m 5’4 so i’m not that tall however i’m tall enough were some clothes i did buy i have to wear an extra skirt with them.

however, thanks for mentioning this site! it’s awesome to be able to find the japanese brands i fell in love with there from reliable stores!

    • Yes! I had never thought about the concept of one size clothing until I started buying Japanese clothing for Lolita years ago. I’m only 151cm so I can get away with most of it I think but yes so short I would consider half of them shirts not dresses XD Glad you enjoyed the post!

  5. The last photo is absolutely stunning!

All of the things you got suit you to a T. Well done! I’m going to check out the site to see how their shipping is to the US. :)

  6. You are so absolutely gorgeous in the last photo!!! Love the two dresses, so cute!

  7. I’ve heard of Liz Lisa before, but I’d never really looked at their stuff before; now I want to buy some of it; because it’s so pretty!! :O

I honestly think that very last photo of you is the prettiest picture of you I’ve ever seen. :D IT’S SO PRETTY. <3

    • You are just the sweetest Alyssa! I think you would love some of this season’s clothes from Liz Lisa, they have some seriously adorable things!

  8. Aww~!! You’re sooooooooooooo prettyyyyyy~xD They suit perfect on you!!! I used to wear lots of clothes from LizLisa too~xD They’re really cute!! Well, I didn’t look as cut as you do but, hehehe;p

  9. Ah! That bag and dress is fabulous! :D Really love the details.

  10. Zoey

That last photo reminded me of a fairy. >.< I guess that's a compliment to both you and James' photography.

  11. I didn’t know Mini Maos shipped internationally! BRB browing!

  12. Holly

Oh wow, you remind me of Rapunzel in those last few photos!

  13. Ruby Larkspur

Wow, all those items are super cute! :-) I really love that natural make-up on you too, you look very pretty and ethereal. The picture with you holding the lamp looks like you’re hugging the moon! ^_^

  14. Style Awesomeness!

  15. ohh i’ve always been interested in ordering from mini maos, and after reading your review, i think i will! thanks :)
and i like the last photo and the photo where you’re hugging the light, it’s so cute > U <"!

  16. You make so jealous that we’re starting winter soon instead of spring, I love the florals and that basket purse! I especially love the photos at the end, in the dark! I have a question though – I included Minimaos on a link carousel on my blog, and one of my readers told me that Minimaos only sells fakes. Looking at your photos they look like the real deal, or at least the Liz Lisa items do. I just ordered their angora sweater set so I’m curious as to the fake-or-not question. What do you think?

    • Thanks so much Victoria! Oooh really? Wow that’s really interesting, everything that I got was tagged with the correct brand names and the quality was what I would expect from that level brand (as in below an AP dress but above a regular retail store) so I didn’t have any reason to doubt authenticity. I don’t have anything else to compare it to though so there’s no way I could tell for sure but if you had something to compare to I would be happy to send some details shots *_* I know some of the items on the site were billed as being ” style” and some were just advertised as brand so maybe it’s half and half? I would love to know what you think of the set you ordered when it arrives because I’m very curious now as to whether I was just lucky with the items I got!

Oh My Goodness! I’m going to have to make a whole wishlist! My mom will want to browse with me too, she loves doing that. Thank you for leading me there! X3

  18. The blue dress is really pretty but the shoes are looking a bit cheap to me..

Anyway, the last picture of you is gorgeous! You look so cute! :)
