Fried Rice Recipe Food Friday!
I’m totally going to make an adorable graphic of me in my chef’s outfit for these posts as soon as I dye my hair again :D Until now you guys have to put up with…. a text stick figure with kind of a chef hat… just pretend it’s me ok?

Ok it looks more like a crown than a chef’s hat… also the question mark is totally a wooden spoon… just use your imagination ok?
Fried rice is my favorite comfort food and seeing as the weather has been so chilly lately I like nothing more than curling up on the couch with an episode of Buffy, a bowl of fried rice, a cup of tea and some knitting.
So as a completely random post, here’s my current favorite recipe!
What you need:
- Onion (diced)
- A couple of cups of old rice (I usually use 1 day old rice because I’m impatient)
- Ham (diced)
- Egg
- Anything else in your cupbord, my favorite add ins are peas and leeks!
- Oil
- Soy sauce
Cut up all of the ingredients and fry the onions in a little oil.

Thanks for making me hungry at 10:40PM ~
My favorite comfort food is ice cream or anything cold really. :)
Because it makes me get my mind off of whatever I need comforting for.
Anyway, that looks delicious! You should try one of my favorite dishes: Cơm Chiên Cá Mặn (Rice Fried Fish Salty). Yay for Vietnamese cuisine!
Mwahaha you’re welcome! I’ve never tried much Vietnamese cuisine, I need to find a good place here and give it a go :D
Cooking with Violet video!!!! <3
YES!
My favourite comfort foods chili/lasagna/homemade macaroni and cheese. For midnight snacks I prefer something chocolatey, like a bit of dark chocolate or a cup of hot chocolate. I also love tea at any time of day, it’s the ultimate hug in a mug :)
Mmm I love mac and cheese! Couldn’t agree more about tea :D
Wow I didn’t realise it was so easy to make…Mmmmmm hungry now nom nom nom
You should try it :D
I love fried rice – one of my favorite comfort foods too! I sometimes make up little packets of the diced veggies and ham or bbq pork and keep them in the freezer. Then I just throw the frozen stuff in the skillet and then add the eggs and rice and I can have fried rice almost instantly.
:O That is the smartest idea ever! I have frozen veges but I never thought of freezing the other stuff!
I love fried rice! I actually prefer putting a fried egg on top instead of mixing it in though.
I’ve never tried that way, I’ll have to give it a go :D
I made this today!! It was so good :) You should try cheesecake brownies for a midnight snack. They are delicious!!
That sounds delicious!!
My favorite confort foods are baked Mac and Cheese and homemade chicken noodle soup <3
Mmmm mac and cheese is awesome for cold nights!
That looks so yummy and fun to make! Now I’m impatient because I don’t have any old rice. :) I’ll have to try some tomorrow.
XD I get impatient too, if you’re super hungry you can always leave it out on the bench for a few hours to dry out a bit ;)
I love making fried rice with leftover rice! Especially now that NO ONE in this town makes a decent version. I never thought of using ham in my recipe, but I’m more likely to have chicken on hand. Besides Easy Mac for comfort food… I love to also use leftover rice and mix it in to cream of chicken soup!
Chicken is a great idea, I hadn’t thought of putting chicken in! Do you add it to made soup or just a little soup to flavor the rice?
God that looks delicious! My tummy is grumbling
Mwahaha I’ll have everyone super hungry!
Macaroni and cheese is my ultimate comfort food! Also, and this is gonna sound weird, but I love pork and sour kraut cooked in the crock pot. My mom used to make it all the time when I was a kid so it reminds me of childhood.
Omg I could totally go for macaroni and cheese, SO hungry now!
