Jimmy's Time To Shine
Hello readers of Violet! It’s me, Jimmy! I know you were expecting some kind of miracle craft from Violet where she turns a cue tip, some old lace and a dollar store plastic flower into the best tasting doughnuts ever (wait, am I dating Macgyver?) but instead I have locked her away. HA HA HA!

You see, many people don’t know this but Violet used to work from 10am to 10pm and then spent the night replying to e-mails, comments, writing blog posts, taking pictures, thinking up new ideas, contacting companies and worrying if people liked it. Then we discovered how funny YouTube actually was. Between blogging and working on photography/graphic design/video work for clients we were already using up all of our peak-time internet, so we have to watch YouTube during the off-peak (2am-8am). So now Violet works from 12pm to 2am. That’s a 14 hour day, every day of the week. And she doesn’t stop for anything, I do the cooking and she eats at her desk. She used to break for Judge Judy, but then they cancelled it!!!
Finally enough was enough and I decided to force her to take a day off. I told her she is sleeping in, she can get up and have a shower, but then it’s straight back to the bedroom for breakfast in bed.
She was really worried about all of you, so I said I’d handle today’s post, then she got REALLY worried. But she can relax, we’re having fun, right? Right!
I then gave her a list of my top 10 Jimmy approved activities:
1. Read poorly written romantic novels and critique/poke fun at them (a guilty pleasure of hers)
2. Deco something (but no photos, she’s not going to sneakily turn something into a blog post on MY watch!)
3. Do nails
4. Bake something (again, no pictures)
5. Beat me at arm wrestling (my list was sounding a little chauvinistic)
6. Do some Japanese lessons
7. Tell me what to get her for lunch/dinner
8. Clean up the icons on her desktop (ooooohhhh how it bugs me)
9. Watch some TV/Movies
10. STRIPPEROBICS!

Did I get a punch in the tummy for that last one? You bet I did! I also suggested Terraria, but she thinks games that don’t have an end are pointless. Which I guess is true in a literal sense, but it’s so freaking addictive!!! If you haven’t played it yet, don’t. I played it once and now I play it almost every night for ages. I started to get bored with it, then I started from scratch with a new world and I love it again. Damn you Terraria!!!

This is starting to get a little long, but maybe you guys could settle some bets for us? I say that while I’m sure you guys appreciate all the effort that goes into tutorials and reviews, sometimes you would just like Violet to post about more general stuff like what she did that day or what she has planned for her next day off in 2013. You know, general personal stuff. She says it would seem conceited and boring. So if you guys agree with me, sing it loud and sing it proud in the comments below! Violet will read the comments, but I will be answering them this time. Also I think there should be more of me here because I am clearly awesome! Vote 1 Jimmy!
Ah crap I forgot we are going to Adelaide tomorrow, maybe I should let her out so she can tell me what to pack? That doesn’t sound very relaxing though.
One last thing before I go, a plug.
ha HA! Plug. No but really, Violet has told me that I should post everyday to on MY blog which is about photography for beginners on a budget, so now I’m posting Monday-Friday. Trying to anyway, I forgot yesterday, even though I had actually written the post, I just forgot to post it. www.JimmyAmerica.com and if you have any photography related questions you can ask me here in the comments or on my blog. Maybe I’ll turn your questions into a post because it’s really hard thinking of 5 posts in a row. BYE!!!
Oh damn, she does some kind of code thing at the end here to make it only show the first picture and some text. I must have watched her do this a million times, why don’t I know how to do this? Uhhhh…tell you what, just pretend you only saw the first picture and some text, then you clicked a link and now you see the whole thing. There, I fixed it.

I would love to read posts about random, daily life stuff. Don’t all bloggers blog about that kind of thing? Don’t worry! We all love Violet, so we’d love to read about whatever she feels like sharing with us. We know she’s a human – not a crafting robot! ^____^

I love the snapshot posts and being out and about. Most of the other bloggers I know include something about their daily life in their posts in some way or another.
Oh and Violet in bed being all grumpy is perhaps one of the cutest things I’ve seen today.
I wish I was man enough to drink Guinness, I almost wrote a song about it called just that, but you know…I’m pretty lazy!

No, no, those are her real faces. She has grumpy noises to go with them as well. After all the positive feedback I’m sure I’ll be able to talk her into taking a day off every now and then!

I think it’s awesome that Violet is getting a day off! And I totally vote for #1 more days off for Violet #2 more personal content (I love snapshot days!) and #3 MORE JIMMY (because I don’t have an internet crush on him, I am married after all.)
When Violet links to your blog from here, I go over to read, but honestly the majority just flies right over my head. I JUST bought my first DSLR not too long ago and I’m still trying to figure it out (which is hard on my own). I’d love to read some really super super basic tips! (When I think of more specific problems, I’ll be sure to ask!)

Actually, my favourite posts are usually the ones where Violet shares stories of what she’s been up to posts her random pictures taken around the city. More of those would be fantastic!
I think so too! Apparently quite a few people said they wanted less of them in the poll post, in fact I think they were the least popular, but everyone here seems to love them!

I agree locking her in the room with a pretend lock was a bit extreme, but she never takes a break! Even the days she doesn’t post is because she is too busy with either meetings, clients or tutorials! Maybe next time I can take Violet out for the day instead of locking her in her room! =)

It’s okay Violet; Jimmy took good care of us! I lol’ed and enjoyed the funny pictures. : D On a more serious note, I had the whole blogger burn out issue ~ not knowing what to post about when I had other stuff on my mind, or was really busy.
I ended up deciding that I would share more “life and random stuff” type posts simply because I thought that my readers might like it, and also importantly, I might like it!
I do like reading other people’s personal posts as well, so feel free to post away! I look forwards to reading about what you get up too. : )

I loved this post. It was seriously so cute, i was like “Awww!” *.* (sorry to threaten you masculinity here, Jimmy), because my boyfriends does those forced days off with me, too. When I reached the point where my boyfriend threatened to leave me if I didn’t reduce my scedule I had to stop and just like that I started to sleep regular hours again. Nobody can both work that hard and stay sane. Besides, your the cutest thing ever all grumpy like that.
You are a wonderfull blogger, Violet, and I enjoy your post very, very much. I love the crafty posts but i love the snapshot posts just as well. You show a hilarious, funny, sweet kind of humor in your writing and i imagine that would shine through even more in random “my live today” posts, which i’d thoroughly enjoy.
As for Jimmy posts: I don’t think i’d visit a photo blog everyday, but I do enjoy his style of writing so I’ vote for that, too.

It’s cool Jinfeng, I got masculinity coming out the whazoo and it can only be threatened by having to carry around a pink wheely bag full of groceries on my own! I could threaten Violet with leaving but she knows I’d never leave, so I don’t think it would work very well =( Thanks for the compliment son my writing style, can you believe I nearly failed English every year I was at school? Unpossible! I AM English!

I would totally love to read more day-to-day type posts. I’m in Canada so whenever Violet posts about going out I’m always intrigued by the where and what it’s like. Also who couldn’t want to post day stuff when they’re being locked away with breakfast in bed? Hahaha.
I nearly moved to the great white north! When we moved to Australia I decided I would finish year 12 and then Move to Banff and try to get a job as a snowboard instructor (you know, every 15 year old snowboarders dream) but alas, by the time I finnished highschool I had friends, a band, a girlfriend, a car and it was just easier to stay. Hopefully Violet and I can come visit you in Canada someday!
Haha, have you ever come? Banff is such a beautiful area (not as beautiful as BC, but close.) Funny how our 15 year-old dreams never seem to work out eh? I was planning on being in Nashville rocking a cowboy hat by now… haha.
I went with my family when I was 7-10ish. I don’t remember much except for going in one of those REALLY big trucks up to the glacier which I thought was pretty cool, then a small hole opened up in the glacier right below me and I got stuck. Also my sister fell into lake Louise. It was a fun trip!

Last week she ate mostly hot dogs because we kind of went nuts at Costco. It was so cheap! I think we ended up paying like $15 for 24 hot dogs, 24 buns and mustard or something ridiculous like that. LOVE Costco!

Jimmy I think you’re right that people would be interested to hear more about Violets regular life – That’s what I’d like to see too. The craft and tutorial posts are excellent but she doesn’t need to bust her own balls to always have something brand new for us! :-D She is human after-all! ;-)

And yes, I agree with you. Violet’s ‘Snapshots’ posts are my favourite. I don’t think I’ve ever crafted anything following a Violet tutorial, but I love the posts that show a glimpse of her interesting life, and all the funny and random things you two get up to.

Love the post Jimmy!!! Violet more than deserves a day off – she has been so busy and always does it with grace and style.
I think the lifestyle/general posts are a great suggestion. They help bloggers connect with their readers on multiple levels. Also, as an international reader I find it so interesting to compare your daily routine to my own. (And unfortunately my daily work schedule seems to mirror yours – I need a nap!)
So tell Violet not to worry – you did a great job. I vote for her doing her nails today, having a bubble tea and sitting in bed. Her only contact with her blog should be listening to you read her some of the comments while she is in bed so she will quit worrying about your post.
On the photography question – I would love more on product/item photography and photo editing.

Violet is so friendly that it would never be conceited of her to make posts about her daily life. I love seeing snapshots, but a random post of her average day would be awesome!
She is super friendly, but also super shy! Her average day wouldn’t be very exciting, it’s mostly just working on her laptop in pj’s, but I’m sure we could make something up that would be much more exciting!

I’d love to hear more about your personal life Violet! It would have been really cool if you like posted about your life in Australia. I have never been outside of Europe, and I am extremely curious about the world, so it would have been so awesome to see more what it’s like to live in your town. Like, what’s there to do? Is the food cheap? Where do you work? How do you celebrate Christmas? And just simple things like, what’s going on in your life when you’re not making tutorials and stuff like that? :)
In Melbourne there is SO much to do I don;t thinkw e could do it all, the food is expensive unless you know where to go, we both work from home and for Christmas violet and I like to go to the zoo! I’ll let her fill in the actual details herself!

I only really come here for the pretty pictures and occasional craft ideas (I just finished my very own sparkly sneakers and they’re glorious, world of love to Violet for the tutorial) but I’m happy for her to take a break from craft posts! If she decided just to post a picture of her shoe collection or a pretty decorated room etc one day that would be good enough for me :D
HAHAHAHA, MY crafts!!! Oh man, I am terribly un-crafty. My craft would be something like “here’s an ordinary coat-hanger, but if you cut it here, and here, then add a toilet roll you get…a coat-hanger that no longer works!” enjoy!
