iPad Drawing App Reviews

Jul 13, 2011 by

As you guys know I’ve been doing quite a bit of drawing recently to relax at night. I tend to cycle between knitting, embroidery, drawing and video games depending on my mood at night and having the ipad has given me yet another medium to play with. From my art posts quite a few people asked what programs I was using to draw with so here is my list and reviews!

All of the pictures in this post were done with InkPad

    Your vectors are really cool!

I NEVER draw creatively using them – I’m using Illustrator every day at work and do some pretty complex stuff – even tried my hand at gradient mapping – but to make a piece of art, my brain just goes “WAAA!!!!” and all patience flies out the window. Silly isn’t it!

ANYWAY – yours look great! :-D

    • XD I so know what you mean, some things that I do for work are just unable to be made fun not matter how awesome the end result would be XD I get bored with Illustrator easily so I think this was a good step in for creative-vectoring because it requires less effort and if you want you can just *draw* with non-sucky results!

  2. wow! you are one super talented woman!! great post too! Thisnk ill check oout ink pad when I get time to have a play with it xx

  5. Thank you for the informative review.

  6. Thank you soooo much for doing this! I’m absolutely in love with Procreate and as soon as I get another iTunes card I’m planning on getting Inkpad.

    • :D No problems! I’m totally glad it was helpful, let me know what you think about Inkpad, I really enjoyed it!

NEAT ! I love drawing on the iPad and this is very cool since I’ve been looking around for new apps :D
I’ll definitely take these into consideration !
One question, have you tried Adobe Ideas ?

    • I haven’t tried Adobe Idea yet but I read quite a few reviews which weren’t favorable. Have you tried it?

      • Leanne

Yeah, it’s quite a simple and fun app !
It’s like the bridge between a kid’s drawing app and professional one. A huge problem is it’s pretty over priced and in order to get layers and other functions, you have to pay more on top of that !
But the fact I got the app for free on one magical day is cool. It’s just pretty dull when you can’t use layers.

        • Oh wow you have to pay for layers? That sounds so silly! I’ll have to wait for a magical day too so I can test it all out :D

  8. love your drawing~ they’re fresh and cool~
