Deco iPad Stylus Project

Jun 9, 2011 by

Deco project time :D For my birthday my Dad bought me a stylus for my iPad so I could use it for illustration work. You’ve already seen some of the drawings I’ve done with it but here’s the project I did with the stylus itself.

The stylus looks like a really fat, blunt, aluminium pencil which is pretty cute but I wanted to personalise it a bit more. I settled on adding charms to the top, a dangle and some diamantes fading from that.

  1. I was wondering what you were doing with pink poop, but the final result is gorgeous!

  2. I love this! The fading effect is my favorite part of it (: Plus the luck pink poop, hehe. Also, I was pretty mesmerized by your gorgeous nails.

  3. So where did you get the stylus from?

  4. I love the fading effect.

  5. Love it!!!

The Japanese have a way of making anything cute!!!!

  6. I love the charms. Very cute.

  7. Oh wow, i LOVE your D.I.Y projects!
They look so cute & professional! Love Love LOVE this!
    Such a great idea too!

  8. wow , u did an awesome job! can u use any stylus on ur ipad or does it have to be a special one. i have an ipad and i have styluses from other things (ds, phone, bamboo tablet, etc) can u use these?

    • It needs to be a conductive stylus with a squishy tip like this. Your phone stylus might work if it was designed for iphone but the pointy ones for like DS won’t work because they don’t conduct electricity to the screen ^_^

    Super cute!

Great way to add a little personality to your items. Plus no one can claim its theirs now!

Maybe you could create a small cover for wear you hand sits on the pen made out of material. like those pens you can buy which have a hand grip on them. Or if you carry it around with your ipad2 maybe make a addon on your ipad case and have it sit in a little pocket there. Like a cute weaved pocket you can store it in.

Just some ideas, It’s so cold at the moment and its only going to get worse! Have to start pulling out my scarfs and big jackets now.

Also what glue did you use? I can see a blue and a red caps in one picture but the top picture has a purple and green tube.

    • I thought about making a grip but if I cover it the stylus won’t conduct electricity to the screen so it won’t register >_< Doomed to cold fingers XD But yes a little pocket in the case would be awesome! The glue here is just plain old epoxy the different coloured tubes are because one set is clear and one set dries black.

  10. so lovely~ *-*

  11. You are right! The stylus does look like a fat aluminum pencil, which I think is cute (makes the ipad look like a notepad haha). I like the gradient on the pencil and the dangling charms. Reminds me of the pencil that I used to use. :)

  12. Dang, Violet, that is so friggen cute. I wish I had a tablet thing (I’m not a fan of apple, maybe I’ll get the new android tablet). Lucky poop!!!!! OMG!

    • I love tablets! I haven’t tried any of the android ones but I bet they’re pretty cool too :D Lucky poop=win!

  13. I just got an iPad. What program do you use for your art?

    • Yay! At the moment I’m switching between Art Studio for line art, Procreate for colour and Inkpad for vectors. Love all of them for different reasons :D

    looks cute!

Maybe you could knit or crochet a little coat for your stylus, so that it’d work like a grip and won’t be cold since it’s wool, and if it doesn’t stick well, maybe you can cut off a finger of a latex glove (or a balloon, dunno) and slip it under the corchet/knitted coat to make it stay well.

    • I really want to but the stylus needs to conduct electricity to register on the screen so I can’t make it out of wool or anything non-conductive ;_;

  15. Your stylus looks amazing! It must be so fun to use. I would find was to use the I-pad just to use the stylus.

  16. Sooooo, so so so cute! I love everything about this! But I think especially the rhinestones fading down into the pen. Just adorable! You really inspire me to cover everything in my purse with rhinestones and charms XD

    • :D Dooooooo iiiit! Mwahaha I’ll be the little devil sitting on your shoulder at craft stores telling you to max your credit cards on diamantes ;)

  17. I love the whole effect! Who knew poop could be cute? lol

  18. I love the poop on this!! XD XD
