Peacock Make up Video + Reviews

Apr 29, 2011 by

After the fun I had with the last lot of products from Fashion Addict, they were lovely enough to send me some of their make up items to look over and review. I have always loved bright fun make up and so after chatting to David about it for a while we came up with the idea for a peacock themed look. Challenge accepted!!

And here are some pictures of the finished look as well as the test run I did to try it out. I don’t normally wear my make up this bright but I’ve been making myself try new things and I’m loving it!

I just watched the video with my laptop speakers at about 60% and the video volume 100% and it was loud enough to me. Though, not everyone’s set ups are the same, etc.
Very nice tutorial. Wish I could actually apply shadow well enough to use it. :) (and my coloring is also hard to find suitable colors for. red hair/blue eyes/pale)
Overall very informative! Keep ‘em coming. :)

Haha, just noticed I hacked off most of my name. :) Oh well. (feel free to delete this if you like)

    • Thanks so much for the feedback, glad it was loud enough :D I know what you mean about having frustrating colouring, it took me years to find a foundation that actually matched >_<

  2. This looks very sultry on you! I love it!

  3. I love this tutorial so much, you did such a great job and it looks so pretty. I’m inspired now to try something like this :)

    • Thank you so much Megan, I’m really glad you enjoyed it ^_^ I would love to see your results if you try it!

  4. Love the colors!

    xoxo

  5. I loved your take on a peacock look! So unique!
    xoxxx

    • ^_^ Thank you Natsumi! Definitely not the best one out there but I’m quite pleased with the result :D

  6. I really love how bright the colours are!! I was apprehensive at the thought of the gold, but it really does look wonderful :)

    • Thank you so much Liala, haha I felt the same way the first time I added the gold but after I got used to it I loved it too :D

I’m sorry, but I really think you should stick with craft tutorials. I work as a makeup artist and this is not very good at all :/ The colors are too washed out and not blended well and it just simply is not flattering.

    • Thanks for your comment and advice Anon! I’m not surprised at all that working as a professional you don’t think my skills are very good, I’ve had no training and make up to me is a fun and enjoyable hobby ^_^ I can completely understand you not being interested in tutorials like this so if you would prefer just the craft I have provided categories on the sidebar which you can view only the craft posts and even follow the RSS for just those. To address your feedback, I agree it could be blended much better, I’m sure had I given the brief to a professional such as yourself the result would have been amazing :) The colours appearing muted may be a difference between monitor colours or personal taste, I personally wouldn’t have been comfortable wearing anything brighter than this. That all said I think doing things videos and style this is a good way to improve my skills and get feedback so you can expect more in the future, I imagine both my life and my blog would be quite boring if I didn’t try anything new! Thanks again for commenting :)

  8. Oh, I absolutely love the first picture. You look extra sexy and seductive.

  9. Gorgeous!! Hope this isn’t creepy but your so adorable!
I’m filming mine today, can’t wait to see what the others do too :)

  10. I adore that peacock fascinator. I’m a bit fan of fascinators, as you’ve probably figured out by now.
I used to have a Covergirl gel slicks eyeliner that was a gorgeous colour, but I hardly wore it because the liner was so stiff and you had to press really hard on your eyelid to get any colour to transfer. I wasn’t really impressed with it.
BYS really do have pretty fantastic makeup for a tiny price. I have loads of their products, and I’ve never found one that’s a dud. I like their nail polishes best of all.

  11. Lovely reviews and lovely tutorial, I really enjoyed watching it! *^^* Thanky ou so much for uploading, hehe.

  12. OMG! You’re so beautiful!! and sexy:D I love those blue and blue green colours very muchXD

I’m loving it too! xD Love how all the colours go so well with each other and comes out as a pretty gradient (sorta). I always find it weird how 2 of anything that comes from the same line are so different O-o (aren’t they suppose to be consistent? Oh well, guess not…) As for the peacock earring problem, you could always trim the longer one slightly xD but then I guess if your looking at it from a certain distance you can’t tell a difference. Anyway, awesome review. :) Need more reviews like these

    • You are totally right about the earrings! I’ll have to give it a try and see if it looks ok. Thanks for commenting!

  14. For you American ladies who can’t get easy access to the Be Yourself line, NYX sells a lot of similar products, particularly with regard to the Glitter Creme Palettes. I personally haven’t had an allergic reaction, but all it is really is vaseline and glitter XD

Good job, Violet! ^w^ This tutorial was cute and the video was well done.

    • Thank you Dizzy! Yes, you are completely right about NYX, it’s pretty much the same stuff! Mwahaha vaseline and glitter XD

  15. The bright colors look lovely on you! It’s a really bright, fun look :)
Too bad we don’t have BYS cosmetics here in the states, they look pretty cool.

    • Dizzy pointed out that BYS is pretty much the same as NYX over in the states, hopefully that helps :D

  16. What is total cost for it?!

  17. Awww great reviews. You pictures are so cute. I love the many different colors!!
