| The second ball was put aside for a matching beanie that I was planning to knit on the drive down here. Best laid plans and all but I ended up being too concerned with trying to take photos and I only got this far XD

Pretty much all the photos here were taken on my phone so sorry for the quality!
After we got down here I was really pre-occupied through the rest of Winter so I gave up and it got moved to my “some day” pile.

A couple of weeks ago I found it while cleaning out my stash and decided that since Winter was coming again it was time to finally finish it!

I moved it over from my double pointed needles to circular ones and the race was on :D

Because of the crazy amount of ribbing it took a really long time >_<

That said the second I was past the ribbing I finished the whole top section in one night XD

Folded and with a pompom added to the top it was finally finished! And it only took a year for me to get around to it XD

I made a couple of heart pompoms for the top but in the end I think the big floppy one works better with the design.

And now we have my new favorite winter accessory :D

It’s massive and super soft, perfect for days when you can’t be bothered with hair and even more perfect to cover up a couple of weeks worth of re-growth :P

I think I have an obsession with hats, I just keep wanting to make more and more! Is there some kind of hat lovers anonymous program I can join for this problem?? |
I can’t knit at all, but I totally need one of those beanies! It looks super comfy :)
You should learn! It’s very relaxing :D
A great thing (project) to do with left over variegated wool/yarn is to wrap it around a bangle. Just use some superglue or craft glue and wrap tightly. I use wooden bangles but you can use plastic as well. I’ve been using Noro wool which is Japanese (sold at Morris and Sons) and has fantastic variegations to it.
I love Morris and Sons! I could live in that shop :D I’ve been meaning to try out yarn bracelets too though I’m thinking nautical theme for my first try!
i love the last photo ^^ i like sepia and cute photos of u knitting ^6 i lvoe the hat and the rainbow colour :3
:D Thanks Naka!
If there is some kind of Hat Lover Anonymous, I think I also need to join. I have more hats than I can conceivably wear in a lifetime, and yet that still doesn’t stop me looking for more.
That beanie is super-cute though. I love the oversized pom poms.
We should form one, and have a lot of cake at meetings :D
Love the beanie, though one in black or scarlet might be more my style… aren’t circular needles simply the best thing ever?!
Circular needles= seriously awesome! So much quicker for large projects like these, I’m thinking maybe a sweater next on them :D
You’re making me feel hot with your tights and beanie on!I can not wait till winter or even autumn weather arrives in Perth.
Also it looks greats, I have tried to knit several times. I can only do a basic scarf. And then I get frustrated learning other bits and pieces.
It’s gotten freezing here in Melbourne! Basic scarves are underrated, you can make a surprising number of other items out of just basic flat shapes.
love your hat!
i also love hats for bad hair days :)
Thanks Jacci!

I love this beanie Violet and it looks great on you! Personally I prefer a slouch beanie as they look better on me, but I agree, hats are great for covering those bad hair days! I can not wait to get some cute summer ones to hide the frizz. I confess ~ I am hat addict too. > __ <

Heehee we definitely need to form a club of some kind!
Ha, this sounds like a good portion of my crochet projects! lol It turned out great though, the pom pom was the perfect touch!
XD It can be hard to want to finish things sometimes!
Looks gorgeous *-*
Yet…I don’t think I could ever make something like that looll!
Aww I bet you totally could, probably quicker than me too XD
Very cute! I love it! I also love that you added heart pompoms to it!
XD I still never got around to try my hand at pompom making. I only have really super fluffy yarn, and I don’t know if it will work… Hmm I should try though!
I ended up hanging the hearts out my window to cheer me up during the way :D Fluffy yarn might work, it would just be super soft.
that look amazing!!
Thanks Lissy!
Aw, that is so cute!
Thanks Vita!
What a gorgeous hat! Wonderful job! I’m in love with that rainbow yarn – may I ask what it’s called?
<3
Thanks so much Crystal! I’m not sure what it’s called sorry :( I bought it from Spotlight in a discount bin so maybe if you took them one of the photos they could match it? If you find out let me know because I would love more!
how many cast on stitches did you use?
It was a long time ago but I think it was around 80?
