Houndstooth Nail Art Tutorial
Houndstooth is one of my favorite patterns so making nail art in it is a fairly logical next step XD The pattern itself is very basic if not a little time consuming to make. Your finish will really only depend on how steady your hand is and how thin your brush is, in this tutorial my brush is looking a bit ratty so the result is a little wobbly around the edges. That said when you’re more than 10cm away you really can’t tell haha!
Again no sound, sorry! Vimeo has been really unreliable lately so I’m gradually moving completely over to Youtube. Feel free to go look at my channel there now :D
Hope you enjoyed and let me know if you give it a try!

i agree, it is time-consuming but it is really worth it,ne?
love the nails,sweetie!
^_^
I think the end result is most definitely worth it :D
Houndstooth isn’t my favourite pattern, something about an influx of cheap versions of it a few years back, worn badly by trendies, it just left me cold. In saying that, this is really cute! I may even attempt a go if I can find my white nail paint :)
Ah I know the feeling, I felt the same way about leopard print for a very long time. Hope this can rekindle the love XD
Violet, freehand houndstooth design have always been something I wanted to try. But I am too afraid of it, because it’s so time consuming and needs a steady hand. You make it look real simple. I’ll definitely give this a go when it’s not so hot in Perth!
Seriously Jin, if you can get something to lean your hand on it makes all the difference in the world to the end result. I can’t wait to see your results!
wow, this came out great freehand, lots of work though!
Thanks Danielle! Yep lots of work but I think it’s worth it!
Hi violet! I tried drawing the houndstooth nail art too!
hehehe…not as tidy an clean as yours though =)
I never know that the way to draw it..is to begin with a square shape first!
I will try it next time =)

Your nails turned out so cute Irene, I love them!
You’re amazing and these really show your skill! :) Have you heard of Konad though? They have an image plate (m63) that has a houndstooth pattern that would definitely be a time saver lol.
Thanks Alli! I have Konad and I even have that image plate XD It definitely is a time saver but I think I prefer the look of hand drawn for some reason haha!
I had looked at your “Bad Dog, No Biscuit” nails a while back and wondered how on earth you painted that pattern. This was an awesome tutorial. The end result is really effective.
:D I’m very glad you found it useful!
