What you need:
- Felt or fabric or something similar
- Scissors
- Needle and thread or hot glue gun for quick jobs XD
- Rice or something equally heavy to fill it with.
Ugh, felt scraps are so messy, I haaaate them >_<

First let’s cut a base. This is the shape you should cut out:

Now cut the sides! Below you can see the shapes you need, to make the back ones it’s basically a square with a corner cut off. For the front it’s a square with the top cut into a semi circle. Make sure you leave an extra centimeter on each side for a seam allowance.

Now let’s put it together! Start with these piece:

Lay them together like this:

Stitch (or glue if you’re in a hurry hahaha!) down the left side. Open it up and it looks like this:

Repeat on the other side :D

Now join the two flap pieces to form a back seam like this:

Now it’s time to make the front ^_^

Stitch/glue the front piece around the curve:

Turn the whole thing inside out so the seams are like this:

Stitch/glue the side until you reach the little corner.

Leaving a hole in each side stitch/glue the seam at the very top!

Now let’s make some ears! Cut a triangle of matching felt and a square of pink.

Put them together like this and secure:

Fold them up like this and secure:

Time to put the ears in :D This is roughly the placement you want to use…

Fold in the loose edges so the ear is sandwiched between them and stitch/glue!

Now using the hole on the other side, fill it with rice!

And close up the hole with the second ear sandwiched in!

From the back it looks like this:

Now add a cute face and you’re good to go!

Unfortunately ours suffered a slightly gory death as James was getting dressed, lost his balance and accidentally stamped on it. Brains everywhere >_<

I made another one to replace the blue one then fixed him up to live at a less action packed door XD

NEKO!~ such a cute door stopper <3 perhaps a mouse version for another door? lols… well done.
That sounds adorable! I would totally spend all day playing with them though XD
Super cute!
and inexpensive too, easily replaceable in stamping mishaps! :D
Make me a WC Kumatan one please? ;D
Hahaha a Kumatan one would be so awesome!
Awww, poor blue kitten!! Both are really pretty:D
Heehee he’s in a better place now XD
They’re so cute! The black one sorta looks like Luna from Sailor Moon :)
I love Luna!
The blue one reminds me of Furbies, while the second reminds me of the cat from Trigun. Both would die a horrible horrible death in my house :( The dogs would go after the rice. I could see using pebbles or something less interesting as a filler though. :D Overall I think they’re super cute!
Omg Furbies! Baaad childhood memories!! XD
OMG they’re so cute!!!
*even cuter with the brains spilled out..*
hahaha *evil grin*
hmm but by using rice, will you get bugs after sometime?
Mwahaha you’re evil! So far they have been safe with the rice because we don’t really get many bugs this high up but yes if I was in a warmer climate I would probably replace the rice with something like pebbles.
hahaha i did laughed out loud at the brain picture. XD Nice job btw. <3
Haha thank you!
I can’t stop laughing at the image of James stomping on the first one. This is a great idea. My loungeroom door refuses to stay closed, which is a pain in winter because all the warm air from teh heater leaks out. I’m totally going to be making a whole bunch of these.
Seriously he looked so sad and apologetic when he killed it, hilarious!
OMG! *-* they’re so cute! I was about to make some of these door-stop thingies for my house, but just simple round ones. But now i’m making these cuties! *-*
Thaaanks a lot for sharing this ♥
You should totally try it out :D
Is that rice? Please don’t tell me it’s rice…cos that is such a terrible waste of perfectly edible food. =/
Hi Quynh, thanks for commenting! Yes that is indeed rice :) The amount used was around 1 cup and it was recycled from the first to second version. As it’s serving a long term purpose in my house I personally don’t see it as a waste. Of course if you prefer to use non-food products then sand is a perfect substitute but where I am living, rice is much cheaper and easily accessible than sand so that’s how my choice was made. Thanks again for commenting and have a good afternoon!
Adorable! Thank you for easy directions and fun commentary too!
Anytime ^_^
