| Firstly you need a design for your mousepad! I decided to draw my own but you could use a picture from a magazine or what ever you want really!

First I inked a rough sketch…

Then added some colours…

Some shading…

Thicker lines…

And in about 10min my picture was finished :D So next step is to cut out the drawing in the shape you want the finished product to be and get your other materials ready.

You will need to use the really thin kind of double sided tape for this part because if you use the squishy thick kind your mousepad will be bumpy *_*

So place a bunch of strips on the back of your paper:

And stick it carefully down to the foam. This is the thin kind of foam that you can buy at the craft store in the scrap booking supplies section.

Cut the felt out in the same shape. I decided to use it as a border for my drawing so I left a couple of millimeters gap but you don’t have to.

Next remove your contact from the backing sheet.

Carefully stick your drawing to it and press out any air bubbles.

Cut off any excess leaving around 2cm hanging off the edges.

Snip the overhang every few centimeters.

Fold it around the back!

And that’s it :D Super simple to do but very pretty and effective!

What do you think?

I imagine you guys probably wouldn’t want a Violet-themed one but you could use something personal XD I think I spend so much time around my computer that I want it to look pretty! |
Nice! I wish i had such drawing skills. I assume it’s a ‘laser’ mouse. does it work on a reflective surface?
Yes I have a laser mouse & it works perfectly.
*waves* HI VIOLET’S MUM!!!! ^^
*waves back* Hi Glo~w, Happy New Year, I hope this year is a happy one for you!
XD I see this has already been answered for me haha!
I would love to do something like this! Unfortunately I use the trackpad on my laptop and my artistic ability does not include drawing. Truly adorable though! ^_^
Haha I’m sure you could come up with something!
It looks really nice ^^!
Just wished that the colors were more vibrant, because when you put the plastic layer on that kinda fell away :(
Ah I think the colours just lightened because of the camera flash, in real life it looks pretty much the same ^_^ Thanks!
gosh that reminds me that i need a mouse pad (a padded one). Do you know how to make nice padded pieces for the mousepad? You probably do T___T because youre too awesome with crafts. Are those water coloured markers that you used to design the mouse pad?
The markers are copic markers so they are alcohol based. By padded do you mean like with a pillow to rest your wrist on?
That’s cute and pretty handy! Definitely can’t use this for gaming though, but for all else, it’s good :D
Haha no probably not for gaming XD
This is an amazing idea. I might hack up this SS Vogue catwalk special and add some of my own art to a collage, make a pretty frock mousemat!
That sounds awesome!
Wow this makes me whish my computer had a mouse ^^ It’s a really cool idea with a clever solution, as always.
I was really surprised to find so many nice tutorials on your blog( I loved the one about the headwear holder). Being the spazzy girl I am, I just figured ”aww a girl who like pretty things just like me” when I subscribed. Instead, I found an interesting person with crafting skills and helpful tutorials. They are so detailed that maybe someone like me(who’s never made anything before) could use them. So… Yeah, I really love your tutorials and I hope you’ll make more!
Aww I’m very glad you’re enjoying my tutorials! Thanks very much for subscribing :D Don’t worry I’ve got lots and lots of fun tutorials planned! Thank you so much for your lovely comment!
Cute mousepad! :D Does it move around when the mouse moves? That’s what had happened to me when I had tried making mine (ended up buying a new one instead). Now it’s a wall decoration :D
Nope because it’s foam on the back on a plastic desk it stays in place pretty well just like a normal foam one :D
very cute and a great idea!
Thanks Rie!
Haha!! I’ve never thought handmaking mouse pad was possible! You did it wonderfully(^^)v Your mum must be very happy!
I think she likes it :D Thanks Minnie!
Cuteness~!
Thank you ^_^
Lovely! I really like the kind of coulors. Why can`t more people be so creative…
Best wishes from Germany
