What you need:
- Jug
- Caster sugar (I use about half a cup for this size jug because James likes it really sweet)
- Kettle
- Loose leaf tea
- Tea strainer-dunking-thingy-that-I-can’t-remember-the-name-of
- Tongs
Fill up your kettle and boil it.

Make sure to store tea in an air tight container so it lasts longer.

For the size jug I’m using I needed two of the tea dunking things with around 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of tea in each.

You shouldn’t fill them too full otherwise the tea won’t have room to move around and you won’t get a full flavour.

Once the kettle boils add the plungers and the water to the jug.

You should be able to see the colour change very soon, use your tongs to give everything a stir.

Now herein lies a very important lesson… when you go to refill your glass jug with new tea after it’s been in the fridge for days don’t pour boiling water straight into it! Glass (especially crappy glass from a $2 store) can’t take sudden temperature changes and will crack. Then you will have super hot water all over your bench which is very irritating to clean up and also then you have to have an internal debate on whether it’s worth it to catch a tram all the way to the junk store and replace the jug to continue with the tutorial… it’s not pretty, it looks something like this in fact!

So after deciding you are too lazy to go buy a replacement jug and digging around under your bench to find a smaller one and remaking it all up to this point… leave everything to cool for around 10 minutes.

Then it’s time to add in your sugar. We like a huge amount of sugar (like probably 1/4 of a cup for the big glass jug above or 1/8th of a cup for the small pyrex one below) but the first time you make this I would suggest measuring and adding a bit at a time until you’ve got a flavour you like. Ours tastes kind of like un-set jelly XD

Now stir it all together so the sugar dissolves and remove the tea strainers. Leave it out on the bench for a couple of hours until it’s room temperature then pop in the fridge over night. The next day you will have some pretty delicious tea ready and waiting to go :D

Do you guys have a favorite flavour of tea? I love strawberries and cream for the ice tea and at the moment my favorite hot tea is good old English Breakfast :D |
mmmmm tea, love tasting tea at T2 :D
:D Me too!
ooh I’ve tried strawberries and cream at t2 ages ago.. they are delicious!! :)

XOXO
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Violet! Where do you buy the T2 strawberries and cream tea? I’m sorry you cracked your glass jug :(
Kisses, Melanie
XD It’s not a big deal, I just bought another one hahaha! The tea is actually from the store T2: http://t2tea.com/
Caramel and Vanilla is my favorite right now!
I tried making iced tea with eggnogg flavored tea the other day. I do not recommend this.
Ooo that caramel/vanilla sounds fantastic! Egg nog *_* That sounds so icky!!
^.^ It’s called an infuser haha. I love making milk tea with rose flavored green tea. Floral teas are my favorite!
*smacks head* Of course! Ugh one of those days where I forget my own name XD I love floral teas too, milk/rose/green sounds heavenly!
Eek! Violet, you totally read my mind! I was just thinking the other day that I would like to look up some iced tea receipes on the internet, and now I don’t even have to do that. ^ U ^
I shall try it out as soon as I can, your receipe looks great. Oh, but I am sorry you broke your jug. I broke a glass casserol lid once by lifting it off the hot meal inside and putting it in the cold sink…. Ooops. Mom wasn’t very impressed! > o <
xox,
bonita
Heehee glad to help! I’ve done so many silly things like the jug, when I was a kid I put a metal lasagne container in the microwave and burned a hole in the back of it XD
Your tea sounds yummy, and your website is lovely! As I’m sure you know, it’s winter here although it never gets cold enough (for me, anyway) where I live in central California. (It does get sickeningly hot in the summer though– I HATE summer!!!) The lowest it gets here is around 30 degrees Farenheit. (I don’t know what that translates into in Celcius; I don’t even know how to spell either one of those words actually! ;) It seems like a lot of peeps here (that I know anyway) think of iced tea as a warmer-weather drink. Not me!! My daughter and I have “teatime” every evening with ICED tea. I just fill up a gallon-sized jug with cool water from our (really cool!) built-in water purifier and put about 9 tea bags in it; then I leave it on the counter and let it steep. The tea steeps a lot faster if you place the filled jug in the sun (this is sometimes known as “sun tea”). I always have a jug in the refrigerator ready to go, though; I’m just too lazy to boil the water! (And use a steeper, which I have somewhere at the bottom of a kitchen drawer.) I LOVE mango tea, especially green mango. A lot of people think pre-filled tea bags make tea that tastes like it had floor sweepings steeping in it, but I really like Bigelow Sweet Dreams (herbal with chamomile), Bigelow Mint Medley and Celestial Seasonings Sleepy Time (another herbal w/ chamomile.) These are mass-marketed in the U.S., but so tasty!
Sorry I typed so much!–Gena in CA
Wow! Thanks for such a wonderful comment Gena! I love tea in pretty much any form :D I’ve never tried sun tea but I’ll definitely have to give it a try :D I’ve heard of Celestial Seasonings before but not the other ones, I definitely have some research to do, thanks for all the information!
P.S. I use plastic jugs. If I used glass I’d probably be breaking one every other week, even using cold water. :)
xxooxx–G
Haha definitely learned my lesson XD
your kitchen outfit is so cute! and your photos are so crisp. I’d love for you to do a photography tutorial or talk about how you get such great photos :)
Aww thanks Victoria! I will add it to my tutorials list for you :D
oooo im gonna try this i could do with a way of weaning myself off coffee :)
Tea is definitely the way to go with that!
Oh it looks so yummy!!
And I love iced tea.
I will have to try this out.
Thank you :D
I hope you like it! :D
I love making iced tea with T2′s strawberries and cream. It’s so delicious. I do mine a little differently though. Instead of adding the sugar, I make a super-strong batch of tea, let it cool, and then stir it into a jug of fizzy lemonade. It’s still nice and sweet, and you get a little fizz to it too. I sometimes add some chopped strawberries as well.
OMG lemonade is genius!!! I am going to have to try this! Thanks for such a great idea Ness!
Hi Violet, forgive me for saying this but you looked like a doll!!! So cute, my daughter ask me if she can dress up like you
Thank you so much Lily, omg your daughter sounds so cute!!
My tea cupboard is overflowing. I love tea of all types. I drink green tea most often, but I also like blueberry herbal tea quite a bit. I use stevia for sweetener instead of sugar. Sorry about your jug. :( I usually make mine in the microwave. So lazy, haha.
Blueberry tea is delicious! Haha the jug is no problem, it was just a cheap one, already replaced :D
You’re so freaking CUTE! I just wanna squeeze you~
The tea looks absolutely delicious. I’m really excited to try it~
Uh ohh~ I’m sorry to hear about the glass! It’s a good thing you included it because I definitely would have forgotten :x
Teehee
Thanks so much for another great tutorial! ♥
Aww that’s so lovely of you to say Hana! Haha no problems about the jug, I just replaced it later in the week, teach me for buying a cheap jug XD
Turkish Apple from T2 – yummy as an iced tea :)
Delicious as a hot tea, too!
That one is James’ favorite too!
Yuuuum! I have that exact same tea so I’m definitely going to give it a try… but perhaps with a little less sugar :P
XD not many people can take the same amount of sugar as James!
Oh no, what a shame about the jug!
I love a cup of tea, but have a hard time drinking it in the summer. I LOVE T2 it’s the best. I believe they do online ordering for those who don’t have one near.
T2 really does have lovely blends, oh I didn’t realise they did online ordering too! Thanks :D
Strawberry and cream.. That sounds delicious!
My favorite tea at this moment is green tea with jasmin ^^ but my all-time favorite is English Breakfast as well<3
I love green/jasmine tea too, it’s my favorite in winter :D
Kyahhooooy(*^▽^*)I gotta try this! I gotta try this!! I just need to find the fantastically princessy looking strawberry tea☆ Yuuuumm♪
Oh Princess, you would love strawberry tea! It’s so sweet and yummy :D
Hi There, I am an avid T2 fan and can tell you the Strawberries and cream is the bomb….heres a secret worth sharing…..if you infuse the tea in vodka for 24 hours it makes the best and I do mean best strawberry vodka. A few other favourites and worth trying is the Frutilicious, Citrus Punch and when its christmas try the White Christmas it has a bit of a kick. I think I should apply for a job at T2 I have 2 bodum jugs now broken from over use and have recently purchased the spill proof 2 litre jugs..they are worth the investment……..sorry to rave its just the best tea on earth.
That sounds sound nice, though I don’t really drink alcohol so I’ll have to pass on the recipe to my friends :D Haha it does sound like you should work there, I bet that would be a super fun job!
Yummy! I am rather fond of strawberries and tea.( My favorite is Korean plum tea.) I love your blog, Violet! I’m a rookie blogger, so what are your tips for good blogging? I’d love to know! :)
If you’re looking for blogging tips you could have a look at the ebook I wrote about it here:
http://violetlebeaux.com/store/?p=692
Or I’m doing a Q and A session so just email me your questions ^_^
I haven’t tried Korean plum tea but it sounds lovely!
Love your cooking clothes! That apron is adorable! Love your blog.
Thanks Anna!
Aww, I’m so sorry about your poor jug :(
My favorite tea is a blooming tea I got from Numi’s website, called Dragon Lily. Not only does it “bloom” into a pretty orange lily (I love lilies!), the tea has a wonderful apricot flavor~! They always sell out of it though, so I always miss it once I’ve got the money!
The fact that it’s white tea as well is only the delicious whipped cream topping on an already delicious Key Lime pie…. which would go perfectly with this tea. XD
Oh that sounds lovely! I’ll have to look out for it :D James loves Key Lime pie too!
That looks delicious! I’ve just been having black tea. I had no idea you could get strawberries and cream, but the colour is so pretty!
Oh you should give it a try, it’s heaven on a hot day :D
Early Grey for breakfast and hot Chai before bed. But it’s winter here so I’m focused on warming my bones, not chilling them any further.
Haha you should read my entries like 6 months behind so we sync up seasons-wise XD
Brilliance. Although yesterday it was 70f here… so we might not be too far off from each other temp wise.
Now it’s 28f again. :(
28f? Man send some of that weather here please!
I’m a good ole Southern Yankee, and we take our sweet tea very seriously. My favorite recipe (for a gallon of tea) is four bags of orange pekoe tea (preferably Louisiana brand), one bag of Earl Grey, and a cup of sugar. :) It’s a great classic flavor.
I am going to have to see if I can find orange pekoe here :D
OMG!! I have that tea! I HAVE to try this!!
DO IT!!! It’s fricking delicious!
Ooh this is such a cool recipe. A while ago my boyfriend bought me the cutest ‘tea dunking thingy’ and I haven’t really known what to do with it. I will definitely try this out. I wish I had blogged about the tea thingy so that I could show you, I’m sure that you would love it. :)
:D I have one that looks like a little tea pot! So cute :D Let me know if you like the tea!
I’ve recently discovered T2 in Brisbane and I was in heaven >_<
Now I am the proud owner of a cute little tea pot and a variety of teas, my favourite also being strawberries & cream :)
T2 is awesome! Strawberries and creme is delicious :D
