Face Washer Cute-ification
Jan 31, 2011 by Violet
Aaaand continuing in the series of making house hold things a bit prettier today we have face washers!
What you need:
- Face washer
- Lace
- Embroidery thread
- Pretty fabric

| First cut out your pretty fabric into a nice design, I chose two hearts.

Thread your needle with matching embroidery thread.

Place the hearts in the corner of the towel.

Stitch them in place ^_^

Now using the embroidery thread start stitching the lace around the edges.

I decided to do a simple running stitch but you could do something much more elaborate :D

All the way around the edge and you’re finished! This is how mine turned out:

It’s nice and easy to make and still very pretty. This is a something that looks really effective but is still easy enough to do that I wouldn’t be put off from doing it to all of the ones in my house XD

I figure that if I start doing little things like this now, by the time I actually can afford to buy a house I’ll finally have nice stuff to put in it XD |
i would so decorate mine, but sadly they already have patterns on them…
I’m sure they’re cute anyway ^_^
People here pay big buck for cutified things in shops like Lovely Lace and Teddy Tales! Why pay more right? <333
I agree, though sometimes I wish we had a shop like that here!
How’d you make the corners look so good? I want to do this but I know the corners would look horrible :(
You need to pleat the corners so there’s enough lace at the edge to make points ^_^
as always, sure cute!
Thanks Laura!
This looks so cute! I love how by using embroidery thread you turned the stitching into part of the decoration. :)
Thank you! I love the stitching too!
I think “face washer” is the cutest name I’ve ever heard for a washcloth, hehe. :3
PS Violet! You should put before and after pictures before the jump on all your posts so we know what the final product looks like!
Haha that’s what they’re called here, at least that’s what everyone I know calls them XD Thanks for the suggestion Nano, I’ll have a think about it!
Hehe~ I love all these cute things you’re teaching us how to make!
I’m very glad you enjoyed it ^_^
Oh cute!! I’m loving lace at the moment, so may try this out :)
I could totally see you having a whole house full of these Jess!
i cant believe i didnt see this earlier (i think i follow your blog way too much, i’m starting to creep myself out.. i should become a professional celeb stalker T_T ahaha jk). i tried decorating mine improvising with anything I had, however I managed to mess it up.. badly. I finally realized I just cannot sew. or use a glue gun. or do anything craft related T_____________T somebody save me from myself.
Hahaha you are too cute!! I think you just need to start with something really simple XD You can do it!
How cute!!! In Canada, we call them wash cloths. :)
Thanks ^_^
