Deco Calculator

So my Mum bought me this cute little calculator for Christmas as something to deco, how could I say no to a challenge like that XD
The parts I used are mostly from The Sticker Monster who is beyond awesome! People always ask me where I get deco parts from and I always give the following answers:
All of those places ship internationally and all of them are full of awesome stuff so no more questions about that XD First thing I did was put together a basic design by laying out the main pieces on the calculator…
I transfered the flowers to the side while keeping the design in tact so I could see what needed to go where. Then one by one I glued them in place.
Now let’s talk about glue. Again another question I get at least once a week is about the glue that I use. Glue which can be used for deco:
So after gluing down the flowers I started adding larger jewels around the edges of the buttons…
Then smaller jewels, stars etc…
And I just really kept going until I felt there was enough. Done!
This is the kind of deco that only takes a few minutes especially if you’re using sticky back jewels ^_^
Of course you probably shouldn’t let your boyfriend take the before/after shots -_-’
I haven’t decided if this is finished yet, I might continue the deco around the other other side but I’m more focused on my next big project… my laptop. I’ve finally settled on a new design for it so I just need to get off my butt and get some parts now :D |
Oh wow, you’re calculator is much cuter looking than what I did to my sci calc for last semester. Still using it for this semester, next semester I get to decorate a graphing calculator though! I’m hoping to pick up a cute pink one.
tl;dr Deco’d calculators make my day, at least three times a week in class. I approve whole heartedly of this post.

I love it! But I think it could use some smaller rinestones to fill in the spaces. I wonder if that might make it hard to press the buttons. Hmmm…
I don’t think it would be hard to press the buttons with smaller stones because they are really tall buttons. I’ll definitely have a think about it :D

It looks adorable, I’ve just fixed one of my old deco projects (I dropped in on a marble floor and some of the jewels fell off) and I’ve got another one I really want to start work on soon. I also use epoxy it’s the best glue to use, I did try superglue once but it dulled the jewels so never again!
You’re completely right about super glue, it always makes them look less shiny and gross >_<

This is so cute! It’s also really inspiring for me. I have a bunch of things to deco with but I don’t have anything to deco. I have been trying to find a cover for my cell or camera so that I can deco them with out reducing the resale value but have had no luck. For some reason I just never thought of buying something with the intent of decoing it. :D
Oh make sure you show me what you end up doing! If you’re worried about the resale value of the phone maybe just put down some clear contact?
